You know what's awesome... This girl is getting back into the ICU! The best part about nursing is the ability to choose so many different specialties. I've done cardiac tele, adult ICU, NICU, labor and delivery, pediatric ICU, pediatric (hospital / doctor's office), and telephone triage. I love the adult ICU. I love the adrenaline you get when someone's life is in your hands and you must think on your feet and fast. I love seeing patients on their deathbeds make a full recovery and I love being there for families when they must let a loved one go. I will stay at the pediatric office because I absolutely love everyone that I work with and kids are just too much fun!! I'll be PRN (as needed) and pick up shifts here and there. I will also be PRN in the ICU however I plan on picking up a day a week there. I'm so happy to have made these changes in my life. Felt good about myself, took a photo 🤩 Today in my @noom program we talked about high stress = high cortisol and how to control that cortisol. I'm a super stressed person and get stressed way to easily 🤷‍♀️ so I learned some #psychtips that resonated and I wanted to share 😁 . 1. "Oh well" stress statement - you're not giving up or waving the white flag🏳. You acknowledge how you feel and save it for later. #motivationmantra you accept it and move on!! (Gotta learn to do this ✅) 2. Single task - doing one task at a time. (Easier said than done for me 🙄 Have you seen my office?!) but you will do it well and be more productive! (Alrighty then I'll try it out ✅) 3. "Get out of jail" phrase - 🤔 helps you get out of sticky situations! i.e, Someone offers me a cookie 🍪, I say "I'll help myself to some later thank you" (alright easy enough, but later don't eat the cookie! ✅) 4. Be mindful - live in the present!! 47% of our time is "stuck" in the past or predicting our future 😲 (SAY WHAAAAT??!!) Living in the present prevents you from experiencing stress thinking about your past or future! ✴ This one was my favorite ✴ I dwell on the past and stress about the future...probs more than 47% 🤦‍♀️ There is nothing I can change but I can create a better future by living in the present 😊 .
