It doesn't matter which Azula slash ship it is, they're all better if they written as Azula and her girlfriend being psychologically damaged murder-buddies.

Azutara? Better when it's Azula and Katara being psychologically damaged murder-buddies.

Tyzula? Better when it's Azula and Ty Lee being psychologically damaged murder-buddies.

Azuki? Better when it's Azula and Suki being psychologically damaged murder-buddies.

Tophzula? Better when it's Azula and Toph being psychologically damaged murder-buddies.

Maizula? Better when it's Azula and Mai being psychologically damaged murder-buddies, and one of the best things about the Maizula community is that the majority of authors actually realize that.

We can name this the Yuezula rule, after the one lesbian ship which is an exception. Yuezula is best written when it's Azula and Yue being being psychologically damaged princesses.

Here is my second contribution for @atlararepairbigbang! This art accompanies a Yuezula fic called "Our Place in the Family of Things," which you can read here! When Yue arrives in the Fire Nation on a diplomatic trip, she begins to bond with Azula, but quickly discovers they have very different ideas of what it means to be the princess of their respective nations. But still, they each find the other captivating. Things come to a head when Azula finds out Yue is engaged, and you'll just have to keep reading to see what happens next. ;)

oh my god now I'm thinking about azula and yue political marriage

right???? the possibilities...

when i was drawing it i was thinking about yue being betrothed to someone else and azula pursuing her anyway. but political marriage...

i think that azula wouldn't appreciate being married off but would try to turn it into something that would show her father she's useful, and so she's ready for yue and her to be 'the most powerful couple in the world!' and is rather annoyed that yue's...well...a good person.

but slowly maybe they rub off on each other. yue inspires a little empathy in azula and azula inspires a little rebellion in yue.

and well. azula isn't about to let the person she fell for be a sacrifice for the whole world, so she's going to find some way for yue to escape her fate...even if she has to burn down everything to get it. (maybe assuming in this au that yue knows it will ultimately be her fate to replace the moon spirit but doesn't know when)

uhhhh just spitballing. anyone else have yuezula thoughts?
