This was initially going to be a super angsty one-shot I wanted to write about but I can't will myself to write it so I'm just gonna reveal this little angst headcanon of mine regarding the Hook siblings.

So, the Hook siblings are half fairies from their mother, Zarina. They don't have the major fairy appendages, like wings. But they got other smaller fairy attributes that are more in line with Never Fairies.

Like the elf ears.

Hook hates their ears with a burning passion because it's exactly the same "He who shall not be named"'s ears.

When Zarina dies and Hook's mental state is rapidly depleting, Hook tries to get rid of anything fairy-like in his home. Anything that reminded him of Zarina and Peter.

One drunken night, Hook gets this brilliant thought as he watched his children.

His children looked like fairies.

His children looked like Peter.

He had to correct that.

By the end of the night, Hook's hook was bloody, Smee was sick to his core, the kids were screaming-

And their ears were cropped into a vaguely human-ish shape. Mutilated and bleeding. The shapes were completely off, but so long as it didn't look like Peter's fairies.

Hook was at peace.

Curious about Zarina's life (and death) on the Isle? 👀

Hey anon!

So essentially it follows what happens in Tinker Bell and the Pirate Fairy but instead of realizing that James (aka Captain Hook) is bad news and staying away forever, she tries to see the good that she once saw in him. Essentially, she repeatedly ignored the red flags, convinced herself that he would change, and unfortunately wasn't able to see herself out of a toxic relationship with him.

When she heard about the Isle of the Lost and how all the villains would be resurrected and put under there, she begged the fairy queen, Queen Clarion, to turn her human so she could be with the man she loved. Though Queen Clarion is definitely the most level-headed of the Neverland fairies, push her too far, and she can be just as petty and/or vindictive as anyone. She was mad that King Adam wasn't listening to her about how negatively "retiring magic" would impact her faries. As a bit of an "eff you," she allowed Zarina's wish, which technically uses a lot of magic, and helped her sneak onto the Isle. Not much is known about what happened to Queen Clarion and the rest of the Neverland fairies, though. She and the rest of them just...disappeared...leaving Zarina as technically the only remaining Neverland fairy.

But again, Neverland fairies get so much of their magic and strength from the island, and even though Zarina looked like a human and wasn't able to access her magic on the Isle, at her core, she's still a fairy, so as the magic in Neverland seemed to be fading with Pan asleep and Tinker Bell sealed away, along with the less than stellar health conditions on the isle, she died soon after giving birth to CJ.

And if you're wondering, Hook treated Zarina as a side check at best, an annoying nuisance that he wasn't afraid to lay a hand on at worst when they were together on the Isle. As I said before, the Hook siblings have different mothers, so we know Hook wasn't faithful at all. There were a few times when Smee would try to convince her to get over his captain, but after her love for Hook almost nearly faded, Zarina only had pride left, and she couldn't let it seem like she was giving up on this man that she had given EVERYTHING for, so when she found out she was pregnant with CJ, for a moment, she thought Hook would change, but he didn't. He still wanted nothing to do with her. So Zarina wanted nothing to do with her child. She gave birth to CJ, did her the kindness of at least putting her in somewhat cleaning clothes, avoided the child-eating witches, and left her on the deck of the Jolly Roger before she soon after died, labor and a broken heart taking the final toll on her body. Harriet was the only one who saw Zarina leave CJ behind, and even at a young age she was so adamant that this left-behind baby was her sister.

And that's all I got! Again, I never planned to go too deep into Zarina's backstory. Just give a few hints for people who watched the Tinker Bell movies.

When Zarina first came to Neverland, Pan wasn't there. She could sense the magic in this place. So she kind of went in and out for a while, practicing her magic there and growing a pixie dust tree. If the fairies wouldn't teach her she would learn herself. She would get close to her mother in her own way, by being a fairy. But soon… Pan came. He plagued the island. He started off as someone who just goofed off. Zarina met him and he seemed like, well, a child. He just wanted to have fun and practice like her she thought. The two formed a friendship. She had no idea that underneath he was Gold's father, that he was actually an adult. Pan was impressed by her magic and praised her highly. He told her she could be the strongest fairy to exist. He was amazed by her ability to fly without wings and of course, the fact that she could wield and use pixie dust. He encouraged her to use her magic on Neverland itself. Make it a place where pixie dust was accessible. That way, the two could share what Pan called 'their gifts' to the world. He said they could bring Neverland to a paradise. And she believed him.

It started off just taking children at night BUT bringing them back. Pan started it and said it was just to give neglectful kids a home. That there was no harm done. Zarina believed him and was more focused on harnessing her own abilities, her alchemy. It was only when she started to see that those who stayed weren't leaving. Yet again he insisted it was just a little vacation from their lives. Zarina believed him… she didn't want to believe that he had ill intentions. She basically did as he said. Hung out with him and gave him the magic he needed, the dust. And even took a few children. It was actually her that took Wendy that night. Her second biggest regret. But one day… Captain Hook and his brother came to the island. She could sense Pan's distaste for the pirate. Pan had started to order her around and told her not to get involved with his affairs with Hook. Zarina obliged but had a bad feeling. Why she obeyed she still didn't know. Did she really have faith in Pan? Or did she just want to believe he was good? Zarina was a coward who gave him the power he needed to get where he was. Worst of all she was a bystander as Pan killed Hook's brother. When she found out his plans she tried to warn Hook but it was too late. His brother was dead. Guilt smacked her in the face. Zarina confronted Pan who merely knocked her out. He went after Hook but she was able to get up and use her magic to follow him. She saw him rush to the ship but before he could do anything she tackled him to the ground and used her abilities to push the ship out of range so Hook could escape. Basically threw Pan off until Hook was in another world. Pan didn't forgive her. He had her pinned again the wall. She didn't care about the consequence. If he killed her she didn't care. She deserved it. But… he did something worse. Pan needed her for her magic and wasn't willing to give it up. So instead he took her heart and ordered her. She was now forced to be with him whether she wanted to or not. She was his sidekick forever. That was her fate. That was her story.

Sorry for not posting anything recently. I always struggle with  the seasonal sads in the fall so my productivity has gone way down on top of that I’m sick so you know I’m having a lot of fun 

anyway I thought it would share a random thought with you guys today, so I grew up watching the Disney fairy movies with my younger sister, who was absolutely obsessed with Tinker Bell

And the fairy movies and for the most part I enjoyed them they were fun. I watched them with her every time a new one came out Until we got to the pirate fairy movie,

which I hate with the burning passion don’t get me wrong. The antics were fun. The characters were fun Tom Hiddleston has young Captain Hook excellent. I hate the movie on one soul principal,

and that is that it broke the fundamental law of the universe that was set out in the first movie, you don’t get to pick your talent

you’re stuck with the talent you were given and you have to learn how to use that talent in a way that brings you joy and makes you feel good about yourself

and then Zarina comes along. You got a different talent and you got a different talent and you got a different talent. Everybody’s got a different talent,

it just feels like it completely demolishes the point of the first movie. The next time a new fairy like Tinker Bell comes along and is having a hard time fitting in because their talent isn’t what they wanted it to be they’re just gonna switch talents and they’re never gonna learn how to embrace what they’re actually good at also why on earth did the pixie dust physically change their outfits? How did that work?

On the other hand, I actually loved the fairy books like I read a bunch of them like you don’t get it. I’m dyslexic reading is very hard for me. I never finished the Harry Potter series. I quit after book 4 because I didn’t want to deal with Dolores Umbridge, and then them killing series black

but I had a collection of Disney fairies books like nearly every book on this pic I either own, or have read I even have the quest for mother dove’s eggs 

and prilla was my favorite fairy I even had a little poly pocket sized Prilla that was actually part of a two pack that also came with Tinker Bell that I gave to my sister although my dyslexic ass read it as Priscilla so I don’t know what that was about

But I genuinely enjoyed the books more than the movies although I’ve loved videos character arc in the movies, because in the book, her character development frequently gets set back for the sake of a cheap villain, which I hated so you know neither iteration is perfect. I just ended up liking the books better which I don’t say very often . But seriously, if we ever decide to do more Disney fairy movies, I would love for us to use more of the book characters, there’s just such a wide cast to work with you know and instead we pretty much got stuck centering on like the exact same seven fairies no offense to any of them it’s not like they were bad characters. It just gets boring when you know that there’s a whole universe we could be exploring, and instead, we’re just stuck with the same thing over and over again

I mean, for Pete sakes talk about representation we could’ve had a disabled fairy if they had decided to put rani in but no nothing

Although it never really made sense to me, why water fairies wings weren’t waterproof I mean the snow fairies wings are protected from getting to cold and cracking right so why are the water fairies wings waterproof? I don’t know I’m sick and I’m rambling. 

and can we just recon the pirate fairy movie like it never happened Because, like I said, it literally breaks the fundamental law of the universe set forth in the first movie

If the Hooks have the same mother, then I headcanon that it’s Zarina. Not that I’ve watched The Pirate Fairy or anything.

If the Hooks have different mothers, though, then I headcanon that Harry’s mother is still Zarina, but Harriet’s is Red Jessica and CJ’s is Helga Sinclair. Not that I’ve watched the movies they’ve appeared in either.

Harriet looks exactly like her father, which I am basing entirely off of the fact that the wiki says she has black hair, and so does Captain Hook. CJ looks exactly like her mother, which I am basing entirely off the fact that they both have blonde hair, Never mind their other facial features. Harry has his father’s (and Harriet’s) blue eyes and his mother’s hair.

So basically, Harry has a bit of a resemblance to Harriet, while CJ and Harriet do not look remotely related.

Hello! I saw you said in the tags of one of your posts for someone to ask you about Claudine Frollo (she's one of my favorite characters too) so, well...here I am? ;)

wow i’m so glad someone asked me about claudine, i say, having begged for someone to ask me about her.

so first i have to get something out of the way: jehan is on the isle. i don’t know what he does in the movie, since i’ve only seen the musical, but in the movie he *check notes* is kicked out of the church, has quasimodo, and dies. we miss you king. anyway, i’m fairly sure he was doing stuff auradon looks down on. so, on the isle he goes.

he knows what frollo did to quasimodo — his son, who he entrusted to him. so when he learns about claudine he thinks absolutely fucking not. He already ruined one kid, he won’t ruin another. so he approaches frollo, says that with his second chance at life, he’s realized the error in his ways, and wants to repent. it takes some convincing, but frollo eventually lets him back in.

so claudine grows up with her uncle. her uncle who believes in the exact opposite of the church, is very good at pretending, and teaches her basically everything that isn’t scripture.

jehan isn’t able to guard claudine completely, though. she’s still beaten, and starved, and harassed. but jehan gives her food when she’s sent to her tower without dinner, treats her wounds and gives her what pain meds he can, and tells her when her father is out so she can sneak out if she wants, and he teaches her stuff that counteract everything her father teaches her.

claudine grows up to be very rebellious, but she’s good at hiding it. her father is often gone for days at a time, preaching to the isle and probably murdering people. so she can get away with not memorizing one new bible verse a day, or let her clothes be slightly dirty, and she can eat food even if she made a mistake during the day. as long as her father never finds out.

she still believes she deserves her beatings, though. no matter how many times jehan brings her back from the edge of death, or how many new scars she gains, she believes she deserves them. not because she sinned — she doesn’t really believe in sinning anymore — but because she was caught misbehaving. and it’s getting caught she hates most. next time, she’ll do better.

she is not religious, because there are fairies in the isle, and her captain is a demigod, and a Greek god runs one of the only good restaurants on the island, and the queen of hearts may be having an affair with time himself. what are gods, really, when everyone on the isle is so close to power they can’t quite touch? there are only powerful people, and in her mind, none of them deserve that power.

thanks to jehan, her father’s hold on her is shaky at best. it snaps completely when she is 13.

she is 13 when her father beats her, and jehan was out, so she runs to find him. she leaves bloody footprints behind her, and she’s always had a bit of a limp after. she doesn’t find jehan. instead, she’s found half dead by the hooks, who take her to their mother (zarina, who does not live with hook) to heal her.

when she wakes up, she’s surrounded by pirates, and two of whom’s mother instincts kicked in and decided yeah, this is my child now.

claudine officially joins the lost revenge because she only spoke french at first, and gil volunteered to be a translator until someone got around to teaching her english (it ended up being gil, which goes about as well as you’d expect), but she is a hook. they all will protect her.

she’s resistant, at first, but relents eventually. she still goes home, to see jehan, but she mostly sneaks in now. frollo still catches her, either at home or around the isle, and she will be punished. the pirates have taken to sending someone with her when she leaves the ports.

harry is especially good at noticing when she’s been injured, because harriet hides her injuries the same way, and she has the same bad habit of running back to abusive homes. whenever he sees the slightest hint that she’s hurt, he has to force her to accept help because claudine, lass, you’re limping again, and the more you walk on an injured leg, the more likely it’ll have to be cut off, and you don’t want that, do you? he’s exaggerating, of course, but the idea of being deformed terrifies claudine, so she concedes.

her father made her wear her hair up and cover it, so when she joins the lost revenge, she starts to wear bandanas, and lets uma help her find hairstyles she actually likes (to this day, harry and uma are two of the only people she’ll let touch her).

when frollo is mad at her, she’ll be locked in her room without food. she’s beaten (burned and whipped, i’d say), and forced to beg for forgiveness. sometimes, frollo only issues one of these punishments. sometimes he issues them all.

she wears clothes that cover all her skin. partially because she will be called a whore if she doesn’t, and because of her scars. she doesn’t want her scars to be seen, even though everyone knows what frollo does to her. she does have a jacket that was her mother’s, and she’s nearly always wearing it. frollo has yet to destroy it.

speaking of her mother, claudine does not know who her mother is. she was abandoned as a child, left on frollo’s doorstep. all she knows is her father calls her a witch, and she bears some resemblance to the few romani people on the isle. it wasn’t hard to connect the dots from there.

she has a habit of assessing tone of voice when speaking to people, since it was one of the only ways she could evaluate how her father was feeling.

claudine is friends with freddie, which sounds odd, but hear me out: frollo tries to kill most the isle because they’re witches, right? one day, the person he captures is freddie facilier, who likes conning people and talking with the dead. claudine knows her death would start a war with dr. facilier, and freddie is her age, and claudine has been made to watch these executions before, but the idea of watching someone her own age killed is another thing, so she lets her go. frollo never found out it was her, but he beat her anyway.

they don’t talk again until claudine is adopted by the hooks, and cj decides it’s a good idea to introduce the two of them. claudine is still getting used to magic being normal, since so many members of the lost revenge and harriet’s crew have some sort of magic, even if it’s weakened under the barrier. but freddie remembers her, and her father, so she only steals some of her stuff.

i imagine their friendship being something like freddie asking if she can shrink people’s heads, and claudine saying as long as she’s not associated with it, she can shrink whoever’s head she wants. and if freddie is making a voodoo call of frollo? well, claudine sure didn’t see it.

also, she’s definitely gay, but the thought terrifies claudine so much she just ignores it.

anyway. that’s it. claudine is easily one of my favorite characters, and i’m so mad we don’t see her more. she really is a blank character, so i can do whatever i want with her. most of my headcanons come from the fandom’s consensus on her, and also just ideas i like.

Probably not gonna draw it because A) I'm lazy and B) I think there are enough angsty Peter Pan retellings as it is, and I'm not sure I could pull this off in a way that's actually interesting, but I've been thinking about the "James and Zarina are Peter's parents" AU, and how this could fit with the actual Peter Pan story.

So my idea is this: Zarina finds a way to become human sized with pixie dust or something, she and James somehow work through their issues, they end up together. Zarina gets pregnant, to everyone's surprise, since that's not a thing with fairies (my headcanon for this would be that on top of being now human sized, she spends so much time with the pirates and wants to be with James so much that it ends up changing her a bit and she gradually becomes more human and less fairy). A few months later, Peter is here and for the next few years, they all live happily on the ship.

Then one day, Zarina disappears. Nobody knows why. Maybe something happened to her, maybe she decided to leave for some unknown reason. They look for her, they wait for her, but eventually they have to accept that she's not coming back.

And that's when things start to turn sour between James and Peter. James is the first one who stops looking for Zarina. He somehow convinces himself that she left him, got tired of him, realized how bad and unlovable he is, etc... He just goes full self blame and self hate, but he also makes it everyone else's problem. Kinda goes "she left me because I'm a terrible person, this was always going to happen, so I'm just gonna stop trying to be a decent man, let myself be a monster so that I can at least tell myself that she was right to leave".

This change doesn't happen overnight though. Even though he's bitter, for a while, he still tries to be a father to Peter. But Zarina disappeared just as Peter was entering a complicated age. Just like James, Peter is convinced that his mother decided to leave. And like James, he blames himself. But he also blames everyone else. He's angry at his mother for leaving without a word. He's angry at his father for not trying hard enough to get her back, and part of him also ends up believing she left because of his dad. He's angry at the crew and the fairies because none of them have a good explanation as to why his mother is gone. They all expect him to act like a sweet little kid but none of the adults around him have their shit together.

So one day, after a heated argument with his dad, Peter decides to leave the ship, and he also decides that adults suck and that he'll never grow up if that means turning up like them. Tink, who acts like a very protective aunt, finds him and tries and fails to convince him to go back to the ship.

A few days or so later, Tink goes to talk to James, explains to him that Peter is still angry but that he's safe, she's watching over him, and that he'll come around eventually. And James, who at this point is all "everyone I care about is leaving me, I guess I never deserved to have them in the first place" just gives up on Peter like he gave up on trying to find Zarina. He tells Tink that it's alright if Peter doesn't want to come back, he's not a good father to him anyway and the fairies will take better care of him than he would. Tink thinks that's super messed up but it's not like there's much she can do about it except to keep watching over Peter.

And that would be where they leave things at. Peter's constant provoking of Hook is half him still blaming his father for causing his mother to leave, half a sad attempt to get his father to acknowledge him.

Which other parents will you be focusing on in your new series, besides Bruno?

So far, I planned this kind of narration during-the-Isle for Bruno only (there will be hints of other stories in the Elsa one, like Zarina's, Hans', and the matter of Hadie's mother), but I have in the works a story set between D2 and D3 that will have the Core 4 finding out about/meeting their other parents, so Evie interacting with Hans, Jay finding out what happened to his mother, and Carlos discovering Bruno in Hell Hall's walls. Plus the aftermaths, one fic each.

In fact, I think Jay's mother's story is going to be a heavy ride, while Carlos' will be set mostly during the events of Encanto, so an easier story. Evie will have to face a different set of issues. Then I may add something about Uma, Freddie, and Celia, or the Hook siblings, perhaps Gil or Claudine too since I have headcanons for all of them, but no promises on that.
