ziggs doodles + apothalypse au rambling

regular ziggs + my apothalypse au ziggs. they are not the main character of the au by any means but by god they are probably my favourite here (apothalypse summary here and ap!ziggs lore below)

*claps hands* SO apothalypse ziggs aka ap!ziggs aka ziggs my blorbo my scrunkly my etc etc. this dweeb overslept on the first day of the zombie apocalypse. a true hero. since tgwdlm is set 2 years earlier than nmt2, ziggs would be around 17/18ish in this au (steph and grace are around 15/16 and all the characters from black friday are their ages in that). also the apotheosis was canonically on a school day so. ziggs basically just slept in that day and woke up at like 2-3pm and everyone was singing and killing each other in the street so logically they freaked out a little. this also meant they were pretty much one of the only people in this au that had any sort of prep time seeing as the hive inexplicably didnt break into their house while they were asleep and they had time to stock up on stuff from their home.

since ziggs is canonically an art kid, i decided to give them a spray painting mask. they are also kitted out with a knife and a messenger bag containing food and a first aid kit among other things. the other things are weed.

after escaping their house, ziggs travels alone for a while before running into steph and grace, a couple of kids they sorta recognise from their school, and the three of them team up and go hide in the woods together for a while.

ziggs and crew are accompanied by dale. dale is a nighthawk. he is just a tiny little bird that started following ziggs around after they gave him a few crumbs from their rations as a treat and has since become the group’s sidekick/mascot. (i have this obsession with the idea of ziggs just having some sort of weird connection to birds in every universe for no explainable reason. like some kind of weird disney princess)

in summary. ap!ziggs is a non binary stoner disney princess with an animal sidekick who overslept the zombie apocalypse and now has to chaperone 2 gay teens through the woods while surviving the apocalypse through sheer idiocy

I wish we knew more about Emma’s childhood so I could have her project onto Ziggy 😭 more of a sibling than Jane ever was, closest thing she’ll have to a child, and perhaps even closest person to her during the Perky’s Buds timeline

Would Ziggy be Emma's apprentice?

yup!! at first she really really didn’t want an apprentice since that meant more ties to HatchClan, and her original plan was to leave as soon as Tinykit (Tim) grew up… but when a hawk swooped down and tried to take little Stripekit away, she fought like hell to wrestle them back to the ground safe and sound. They’ve idolized her ever since, which she is very amused by.
