Logan glared at his roommates from over the top of a magazine, which he most certainly was not reading. Instead, he was solely focused on the way Michael sat next to you on the small sofa in their dorm.
The endless clicking of the game controllers each of you held were sending off alarms in Logan’s mind. He could feel his patience dwindling with every laugh Michael successfully pulled out of you. Only when the video game was paused did Logan feel some relief, with Michael leaving the room, claiming he would be back with a few snacks.
Logan quickly shielded his eyes with his magazine when you turned to him. Your eyebrows shot up at his movements. Only one way to make him talk to you, you supposed.
Logan grunted in surprise upon feeling a sudden weight on top of him. He can hardly prevent a smile from growing on his face when you worm your way beneath the magazine to meet his eyes.
Resting your cheek against his stomach, you smile back, “Hi.”
His magazine is tossed aside in favor of running his hands over your upper back. The image of your eyes sparkling in the midafternoon sunlight that peeked through the windows made heat rise beneath his skin.
Your fingertips traced over his shirt absentmindedly. Another whisper fell from your lips, “You don’t need to be jealous of Michael, ya know?”
Embarrassment bloomed within his chest, but he quickly stamped it out with a scoff, “I’m not jealous.”
Your only response was a quiet hum, which reminded Logan of how good-natured you are. You had never been one to mock his feelings, no matter how melodramatic.
“Whatever you say, baby,” you chuckled. “Keep telling yourself that.”
He didn’t respond that time, his green heart slowly fading away as contentment for your presence took its place.

have you ever thought about doing a Game Shakers video? or is the show too boring to really justify such a thing?
So when it comes to doing Henry Danger and Game Shakers videos, there are really a few things I think people need to keep in mind...
The mini-series so far is really heavily about me revisiting my nostalgia and kind of answering my curiosity about where these shows went. So reviewing iCarly and Victorious worked because they were of "my era." Sam & Cat worked on that level of "What happened after I stopped watching?" I think that if I don't have a specific goal or pitch, just flippantly watching kid shows from faaaar past my childhood works less as a concept.
One of the great things about iCarly and Victorious is that both shows are barely, and I mean BARELY, in the copyright system on YouTube. Once or twice per season, I'd get one clip or one episode that I had trouble with. But it was shocking how much I could get away with. Sam & Cat was hell because it was clear that by 2013 Nick was uploading stuff to the YouTube copyright library as it was made. So no matter what I did, I would get a copyright claim. This is honestly why those final two videos were much more indulgent than my usual style. I kind of went, "if I have to fight copyright anyway, might as well show more clips..." I regret this somewhat, as now my new video still has 20+ days until I'll have full ads AND I now have a reputation for only recapping plotlines. But that's what you get I guess.
This is much more a thing for Henry Danger than Game Shakers, but another issue is just how much content there is with these shows. Henry Danger has a decade of content, recapping all of it would be both unsurmountable journey and... Well, not fun to watch. So if I ever did these shows, I would have to really focus more on season-by-season analysis rather than actual episodes.
I think my videos on iCarly, Victorious and Sam & Cat are all connected by certain themes and points that I am now drawing closure to. The gags about "the creator," the cognitive dissonance, the attachment to childhood, etc. So if I do reviews on other shows, I have to find new angles and themes to establish. Drake & Josh and Zoey 101 are topics I like because instead of focusing on the creator, I can focus on the lives of the stars and how fame affected them. When it comes to Game Shakers and Henry Danger, the only possible throughline I can think of is how the shows were effective by the collapse of their creator and production studio. Henry Danger continued and improved while Game Shakers was effectively canceled early and fell on its face. But we've already covered all that. Game Shakers just doesn't have that pull to me, and because of that, I can't imagine finding an excuse to review it.

Thoughts on "Quiet on Set"
I imagine, being one of Youtube’s “Nickelodeon Content Creators”, you want to know what I thought. QUIET ON SET, the new four-part documentary detailing inappropriate behavior and abuse on the set of Dan Schneider’s various Nickelodeon shows, starts off on its worst foot, with all the earmarks of trashy tabloid journalism. A couple of gossip journalists walk us through events and interject how you’re supposed to feel about them. There’s one moment where Leon Frierson, former ALL THAT cast member, talks about how uncomfortable some of the costuming made him, about how the noses on a nose-themed superhero costume has some unfortunate phallic resemblances, and then we cut to a writer from Buzzfeed going “and then the sneeze gag is basically a cum shot joke!” Frierson never says that. In a later episode, a similar comparison is made to a gag on ZOEY 101, but there it’s actress Alexa Nikolas making that connection from the workplace environment she had found herself in. It’s an authentic observation, where in the earlier example it was outsider sensationalization, playing to the “crusaders” on Twitter and Tiktok where the public side of Schneider drama has mostly lived over the past decade. They bring on Marc Summers, Nickelodeon elder statesman who had virtually no presence in this era of the channel, for all of twelve seconds so that he can watch a clip of a Schneider show and go “oh, wow, they aired that?”
You can imagine how the producers' eyes must have lit up when they learned that Brian Peck, former Nick dialogue coach and convicted sex offender, owned a John Wayne Gacy painting. I mean, yeah, that’s fucked up, but it has virtually nothing to do with anything. It is, however, a perfect “can you believe this” moment that can be clipped and shared on social media for shock value. It’s something that the documentary can ride as a viral moment.
QUIET ON SET was produced for Investigation Discovery, whose bread and butter is schlocky true crime documentaries. Shows like EVIL LIVES HERE and WHO THE (BLEEP) DID I MARRY. Not exactly tasteful television. The channel is owned by Warner Bros Discovery, and was simultaneously released on Max. Warner Bros Discovery owns Cartoon Network. The documentary puts emphasis on Nickelodeon being on the top of the children’s cable game, and often brings up the Disney Channel as Nick’s main competitor. At no point is Cartoon Network mentioned, because, well, nobody wants to say their competitor is doing better than them, and saying you’re doing better than Nickelodeon would defeat the documentary’s narrative. My point is that I do not believe QUIET ON SET comes from a genuine place. It’s cheap schlock shock documentary filmmaking that wants to attract the same crowd who watch serial killer shows for fun. However. It’s also a space where a lot of people who were hurt during this time at Nickelodeon have come forward to tell their stories, and that pretty much nullifies all the gross exploitation elements present in the early parts. When these people start speaking for themselves, the documentary has no choice but to let them speak, and its more garbage instincts fade away. By the time Drake Bell starts telling his story, the gossip journalists all but vanish until the end, and there’s a stronger sensitivity to everything. The topics raised are harrowing. Workplace discrimination, sexual harassment, child abuse, sexism on set, racism on set, and general mispractice paint a meaningful picture of the toxic environment Nickelodeon was allowing at this time. The stories told by AMANDA SHOW writers Christy Stratton and Jenny Kilgen are infuriating. And then the sexual assault of Drake Bell by Brian Peck. Not an easy watch. It shouldn’t be an easy watch. What a fucking awful thing. It’s heartbreaking to watch. The documentary handles it with an unexpected tact and evenhandedness. It doesn’t excuse Bell’s later behaviors, and it allows Schneider to come off as one of the few adults who handled the situation correctly, even if the rest of the documentary is largely against him. I wish this had been the tone of the entire piece. QUIET ON SET is an important document of a terrible entertainment workplace. It’s a shame they dumped a bunch of trash on top of it. It’s not an easy watch, but it’s one of those things that’s going to be referenced to a lot over the years, and I hope that the people who make children’s television were learn the right lessons from it.

first of all you guys are so talented, I really love your stories!! I've been excited about this series since "follow the sparks" and the fact that mike is a one direction fan has already won me over, byler fandom are so lucky to have you!! my question is about the original characters like justin and mitchell do you guys have any actors in mind when writing them? anyways, i'm excited for the next chapter
hi hello we have gotten so many of these asks and we consistently forget to answer them BUT. here we are (FINALLY)
for justin, we are thinking cody linley (aka jake from hannah montana) but imagine him with brown hair and also not so incredibly 2008
Tumblr media
and for mitchell, we are thinking austin butler but specifically him in zoey 101* (again please ignore that this is so obviously a picture from the late 2000s)
Tumblr media
*suni would also like to add that she has been imagining mitchell as dan howell . see below.

In the early 2010s Austin butler starred in the 2013 sex in the city prequel “The Carrie Diaries” it was produced and then released by the cw network on January 14th at 8 PM Eastern and Pacific Time and 7 PM Central Time on a Monday night. The show ran on a weekly basis for four months during its first season in 2013 and then the very exact same running schedule in 2014 before it was inevitable cancelled
And this simple information genuinely cracks me the fuck up.
Austin butler was literally a child actor in the 2000s. getting his first official role at 14 in Zoey 101 later on he managed to get a bigger role on Hannah Montana and by the time he was on Icarly in 2007 he looked like he’d already gotten five fucking ounces of jaw filler injected into his skin. The man knows the industry he’s seen and has worked through the horrors.
So imagine my surprise when I found out he was a main character in a cw show with a bunch of 18 to 21 year old first time tv actors
Also the show was set in the 80s. Austin was 22 in 2013
And the best part about all of this to me is. I’ve known about this goddamn show for MONTHS. I REPEAT MONTHS. thing is every time I saw the official series poster whether it was on Reddit or on the SACT wiki info I genuinely thought it was a fucking photoshopped fan made wattpad poster for some popular SACT fanfic I didn’t wanna read. I did not think this shit was real.
This is the official series poster.
Tumblr media
Absolutely. Insane.

You don’t have to answer this if you don’t want to but i’ve been watching the documentary “Quiet on set” recently and the things that Dan Schneider and Brian Peck did on these shows and behind closed doors was disturbing and utterly disgusting, but what really hit me was the fact that Austin was apart of that world like the rest of these young kids and it sickens me, i really hope he didn’t have any experiences with Dan or Brian. Like Brian and the pickle jokes and Austin literally doing a pickle joke in zoey 101, it makes me so uncomfortable i don’t think i can ever watch any of these shows the same again
I've watched Quiet on Set also. I've been following the stuff said about Dan Schneider and Nickelodeon for a few years now, so I was definitely interested in this mini docuseries. Austin was on Neds for a long time as a background actor. And he did one ep for iCarly, and one full season of Zoey101. He also was an extra for an ep of Drake and Josh (he attended their holiday movie premiere too)
The Ned's cast have a podcast where they said their set wasn't like that of All That/Amanda Show/etc, but the actors were hooking up with each other so...very odd in that regard. Now, seemingly Dan Schneider had his proclivity for the girls. So I think Austin wasn't preyed upon by Dan in that way. Brian Peck also wasn't in the picture for Austin because the trial happened during Drake and Josh, and he got jailtime then moved to Disney Channel for a hot minute.
I would imagine Austin might have witnessed the other things Dan did, like be sexually aggressive and mean to his female coworkers and the female child actors, but i think Austin might have miraculously escaped being personally victimized by Dan. which is a miracle considering he worked with the network a lot. he probably did see a lot though. The Zoey 101 cast was pretty brutal towards each other according to actress Alexa Nicholas who was bullied by the girls on set. He was on that show predominately, next to Ned's. But Austin has talked about his experience with the other child actors on Ned's in a good light.
anyway, I don't expect him to recant his time from Nickelodeon, nor on Disney Channel in depth. But I pray for these child actors that were abused on set. My heart hurts for all of these kids, such as Drake Bell for example. My heart bleeds for them.

I'mma be real, I'm not excited for Bottoms to come out. As much as I love Kaia Gerber, her acting performance isn't great. I don't think she's a good actor, and I don't think she'll improve, and if so, I don't think it's that much. Austin Butler is a good actor, I'm not a Kaia nor am I an Austin stan. However, I do like his work. I think he did a good job as Wil Ohmsford from The Shannara Chronicles, Sebastian Kydd from The Carrie Diaries, James Wilkerson from Switched at Birth, Jacob from iCarly, and as George from Wizards of a Waverley Place, etc etc. I can't say the same for his girlfriend, Kaia.
Kaia, is a talented model. She's great, I love her. But, as an actor. I just don't see it. I'm obviously not going to compare the two because his experience outweighs her, but if I were to compare. I would say Kaia has the same energy as James Garrett from Zoey 101 Season 4 when he goes, "Do you know where I can go get lunch?" in the most, monotone voice imaginable, but it's her whole performance. She can do better with more training, obviously. But, I still just don't see it in my opinion. Not to mention, she kind of doesn't acknowledge that her nepotism plays into her acting career. For some reason, she acknowledges that it plays in her model career, but not in her acting, saying something along the lines of, and I quote: "I won't deny the privilege that I have. Even if it's just the fact that I have a really great source of information and someone to give me great advice, that I alone feel very fortunate for. But with acting, it's so different. No artist is going to sacrifice their vision for someone's kid. That just isn't how art is made, and what I'm interested in is art. No one wants to work with someone who's annoying, and not easy to work with, and not kind." Which, basically is saying; "yeah but the nepotism doesn't apply to me in acting." which... it does.
Her performance in AHS wasn't even bad, it's downright awful. There's a scene I can't forget which is basically one of the main characters is about to get attacked. Kaia, who is basically defending the main character, says. "RUN!" in the same way Anakin Skywalker (Hayden Christensen isn't a bad actor, it's just an example) from AOTC says, "I don't like sand." just completely void of all emotion. You might be wondering, what do I want from her performance? I wanted her to sound panicked, because her character was panicking. But for some reason, her line delivery is the same as Kristen Stewart going: "woah... what is going on?" In Twilight, it's just bad. She doesn't sound panicked nor shocked, she just sounds completely void of emotion, not in shocked, not surprised, not panicked, not anything. The max she does is raise her voice by 3 octaves- maybe.
In my opinion, in order to become a good actor, you at least have to acknowledge what got you there. The people that got you to the spot you are. Austin, her boyfriend, does this all the time. I see him give credit to other people, I see him say he wants to become like Brad Pitt, like Leonardo DiCaprio, he loves acting, and you can see it, you can tell. He's humble, he treats his publicist amazing, and he gives her credit, saying she's always there for him. He gives credit to his acting coach, to his agent, to Baz, to Tom. The guy seems humble, and he gives credit, he acknowledges that he wouldn't be where he is today, without people.
Kaia doesn't have this in her, due to her refusing to acknowledge that nepotism. I don't think she'll become a good actor, and if so, not a humble one. Her boyfriend can acknowledge that strings were pulled so he could get the role of Elvis. But, she can't acknowledge that her name got her to where she is today. I really don't see it for her, which is why I'm not excited for Bottoms.
Maybe Kaia will be a good actor, maybe she won't be. But so far, from what I've seen. She hasn't been, she's been cringe. As a model, she is brilliant, she has an amazing cat walk. But, as an actor, I'm sorry. She's just not promising at all.
i think it’s a little unfair to just assume she’ll never improve when bottoms, and her other projects, haven’t been released at large yet. and when during ahs she was ‘singled out’ as a bad performance whereas there isn’t a single review of bottoms from the 25+ already out that says she sticks out in a bad way. while there are reviews that say the cast is a strong ensemble with no weak ones out and reviews that say positive things about her in general.
and i would really prefer to not drag the nepo ‘statement’ discourse out on here again but idk. maybe an unpopular opinion but i don’t think what she said was as terrible as people make it out to be. it was a little delulu sure, but delulu in regards to the concept of ppl not hiring nepo babies if they’re assholes. and i think it says something about her work ethic and who she is as a person that she thinks you shouldn’t be hired if you’re unkind/hard to work with no matter what your last name is. saying she “refuses to acknowledge it” just objectively isn’t true when she very much has- even if you didn’t particularly like how she went about it.
kaia hasn’t been interviewed about acting a great deal- but when she talks about modeling she has talked about influences before, and i think the whole reason she does book club is because she likes discussing people, thinkers, and books that have shaped her. so i don’t think it’s fair to say ‘well austin is humble because he talks about others, she doesn’t!’ either.
we can agree to disagree, but those are just my thoughts.

I’m doing a Zoey 101 rewatch and feeling like a 12 year old again. I need the movie asap while my hype is still here. I hate that people are pretending they’re not interested because of Jamie Lynn. A lot of other people worked on it, and I imagine worked hard, and they’re being dragged into too. It’s sad.
I felt the same way when I watched the trailer! Especially because Quinn and Logan are getting married! I always loved Chase and Zoey because they were that big, main will they/won't they, but Logan and Quinn snuck up on me and left a lasting impact.
When I look back at the shows I watched as I kid and the relationships that really dug themselves into my little heart, Quinn and Logan were one of them.
So, yes, I'm excited to see what they do with it. The trailer is cut together really well, and I like the plot A LOT.
As for people's perceptions of Jamie Lynn, that's totally their prerogative. If they don't feel comfortable watching and supporting, that's understandable to me. We all have personal boundaries with the media we consume, and that's okay.
At the end of the day, even if they don't watch because of their opinion of her, that doesn't change the hard work of the other cast and crew members that worked on the project.

I Don’t Believe It! Never in a million years did I ever believe or imagine that Zoey 101 would get it’s own MOVIE! I can’t believe this is happening. I can’t even begin to picture what’s going to happen. There is no way in hell that I’m going to miss out on this movie when it’s released. Zoey 101 was always one of my favourite shows growing up so I’m thrilled about this amazing news. It’s even better that most of the original cast are returning for such a big event. I can’t wait to see what’s in store for these beloved characters and what this new adventure awaits them.

If they make Zoey 102, we need messy adult drama.
The start of Zoey 101 had a reoccurring side character Coco who was the RA for the Girls' dorms. She was hilariously chaotic.
As an RA Zoey can interact in school drama. Get in the higher ups faces. Try to support the students. And overall be a fumbling adult. Her room number can be 102, right next to 101. The kids in 101 can be the spiritual successors of the maincast.
Why she takes the job? A change of pace. Switching career fields. Maybe she's following Chase who took a teaching or administrative position.
Both Chase and Michael are faculty and are the heart of the show while Zoey is only there for drama. The dean is Stacey because she's the most responsible of them. Then Logan and Quinn own the school and have their own wacky B plots that they rope their friends into.
Aw I should have answered this with the other Rebuilding PCA anon
I think the Room 103 would be more fitting. Since her house in the movie was 102 to justify the movie's name, if she got the Room 103, we can justify a third installment, be it movie or series (please god let it be real a series)
I like to think (if) she switched career, it'd be to work with something related to her original dream: design and art. I remember too little of it tbh, so I won't go into details hahah. But Chase and Zoey working together could either bring them closer or generating so much drama. I have the feeling it would be the latter, messy situations would ensue. They would fight and the whole school would know it, gossip getting out of hand and creating miscommunications. Unless they both had matured, I imagine jealousy plots could be a problem too. Like, Chase being his insecure self, would get jealous of Zoey getting closer to another coworker (again, this only if they hadn't grown up since the movie, bc Chase seemed to be really immature about his jealousy over Zoey, and Zoey was also immature, but not as childish). Like, it would be a mess!
We all had those two messy teachers that made things either awkward or interesting bc they just couldn't separate their work life to their personal life lol. That's Zoey and Chase in my mind.
I imagine they'd try to act normal whenever Quinn and Logan showed up. But they're not fooling them. Logan would be like "I knew this would happen 🙄" but be mildly amused, while Quinn would gently remind them to not let those issues interfiere in their work.
I'd be a bit interesting seeing Quogan having a little of tension bc Quinn is on Zoey's side while Logan is on Chase's side over one issue. But I don't see that causing real issues on their own relationship, it'd be like Marshall and Lily from HIMYM, just a bit of competitiveness over who was right. Maybe sometimes getting to into it that a few fights happen here and there. But they never let it get too far.
We desperately need Quogan's subplots that does not revolve around Choey tho, bc I'm really getting tired of them being the center of the world and taking over their moments. I'd love to see more of their careers, of their life outside of PCA.
Idk if I would call Stacey the most responsible. Her as a dean would for sure bring out funny moments in a possible series tho. She would get really intense about her job lol.
