My 2017 MacBook Pro running Zorin OS 17 refuses to acknowledge when I plug in a USB device. I discovered, however, that running "lspci" a shitton of times causes it to eventually notice and mount the drive properly. So to remedy this, I literally made a simple .txt script that just runs "lspci" 100 times in a row, and I have to run it anytime I plug something new in. This is literally my life now. I guess it's a good think this laptop only had two fucking USBs to occupy.

So yeah I love Zorin OS but why's it gotta ship with a weird version of Mesa that doesn't play nice with DXVK? And the kisak PPA doesn't work well on it either, at least on my setup (it introduces jitter to a bunch of apps for some unknown reason). Sucks because it's absolutely the best desktop experience on Linux right now but having to use Steam flatpak really isn't that great.

Anyway until Zorin 17 is out I'll stay on Tuxedo I guess, even though Plasma isn't really my jam.

How did Wayland somehow get worse on Zorin OS 17? It was working great when I opted in on Zorin OS 16, but since upgrading to 17, where it's enabled by default, there are so many annoying graphical glitches. Specifically with the cursor and Firefox, for some reason.

Компания Star Labs анонсировала относительно недорогой портативный компьютер StarLite Mk IV, для которого доступен выбор из ряда операционных систем с ядром Linux: это платформы Ubuntu 20.04 LTS, Elementary OS 6, Zorin OS 16, Linux Mint 20.2, Manjaro 21 и MX Linux 19.4.

Ноутбук оборудован 11,6-дюймовым дисплеем с довольно широкими рамками. Использована панель формата Full HD с разрешением 1920 × 1080 пикселей. Над экраном располагается 2-мегапиксельная веб-камера.

В оснащение включён процессор Intel Pentium Silver N5030 поколения Gemini Lake Refresh. Изделие содержит четыре вычислительных ядра без поддержки многопоточности и графический ускоритель Intel UHD 605. Базовая тактовая частота составляет 1,1 ГГц, максимальная частота — 3,1 ГГц.

Лэптоп располагает 8 Гбайт оперативной памяти и твердотельным накопителем вместимостью 240 Гбайт. Есть порт USB Type-C, два разъёма USB 3.0, интерфейс Micro HDMI, слот для карты microSD и стандартное 3,5-мм аудиогнездо. Упомянута клавиатура с подсветкой.
