so uhhh. update. been rethinking some of my ocs dynamics and relationships with each other and ive decided that finnian/neoma as a couple no longer feels right. there's something lacking in them together but i think that thing that's lacking will help them grow as individuals.
so instead i am now going to present to you a new dynamic:
the bride and the uglier bride
something something the bride and the ugly ass groom but with my ocs
#pokemon#pmd#pokemon mystery dungeon#pmd ocs#brionne#oc: verity#<- brionne design for her isn't final by any means but it's something like this i think#zoroark#hisuian zoroark#oc: neoma#also previous ages have been changed to avoid anything uncomfortable. they're all adults (finnian and neoma are 19 and verity is 21)

Prompt thingy.
Ingo as a Zoroark carrying Emmet, Elesa and Akari through a rough patch in the highlands
"Lord Zoroark."
Tilting his head, Lord Zoroark- or rather, the individual once known as Ingo- cast a glance down at his warden. Akari was pointedly looking behind them, so he turned his gaze in said direction.
Ah. Right. It was not once known any longer.
"I am Emmet," his brother gasped out between breaths, "-and I cannot walk that fast."
"Yeah," Elesa agreed, weakly holding up a hand, "-me neither. Especially not on this terrain."
Lord Zoroark- Ingo- let out a slight huff. Standing up tall, he linked his arms behind his back, cocking his head curiously at the pair. "I thought the two of you would be used to this by now. You've been doing Survey Corps work for over four months, correct?"
Emmet and Elesa merely exchanged a tired glance between them. Ah. He was not so out of practice reading them that he couldn't gauge what that look meant.
"You've been using the other Nobles to get around all this time, haven't you?" Ingo asked.
If he had eyebrows at the moment, he would have raised one.
"They always were whenever I saw them!" Akari cheerfully chimed in.
Emmet shot her a dirty look. Akari stuck out her tongue. Ingo just huffed, lightly resting a paw on his warden's head and ruffling her hair until she squeaked. His brother and Akari might bicker, but there was no real fire behind it. With enough time, he was certain the two would get along well enough to turn their two car train into a three car one.
He was still amazed his brother had chosen to reattach him.
Shaking the thought off, Ingo's lips merely twitched upwards in the faintest hint of a smile. It was much more difficult with his current facial structure than it had been with his human one, but he managed at times. He had spotted Emmet and Elesa many times making their way through Hisui by asking for the aid of the Nobles, unable to help but spy on them even as he avoided them both. Even if he did not, he'd still heard of them from the other Nobles. Lady Sneasler would often complain that his brother had nowhere near half the endurance he did.
That was to be expected. Emmet was only human. His own endurance had not been much better when he'd still had his own human body. If anything, he suspected that after five years of absence, it would be even worse, no matter how valiantly his brother and Elesa had tried to exercise said body while its occupant had been absent.
He still couldn't believe they'd gone that far.
"I still don't see why we can't call upon them now." Emmet said. "It would be faster."
"The other Nobles are quite occupied at the moment," Ingo informed them, "-and you were the one who said that they wanted to take the fastest route to Lake Verity."
"It sure was!" Akari helpfully chimed in.
Emmet shot her another look. Akari stuck out her tongue again.
Ingo ruffled her hair further.
"I told you we should have taken the easier path." Elesa said.
"I am Emmet. I stand by my decision." Emmet huffed, folding his arms stubbornly in front of him. "We must resolve this situation quickly so we can return to Jubilife. I do not trust Kamado with the care of Ingo's body."
"I don't either," Elesa agreed, "-but I trust Captain Cyllene."
"It's still so weird to think about Lord Zoroark having a human body." Akari said.
"And not as weird as a talking Zoroark?" Elesa arched a brow.
"No, I got used to that part already." Akari shrugged.
"I wish you had mentioned the talking earlier," Emmet said, "-we would have found Ingo much sooner. Before he frenzied."
"And I already apologized for that." Ingo said. "Lady Cogita treated your Pokemon. I believe they are all back to full health."
"They are all verrry healthy again, yup!" Emmet agreed. "But that was verrry stressful, brother."
Ingo shifted somewhat uncomfortably on his feet. Yes, he'd imagine. As much as he'd tried to downplay it a moment ago, the situation had been very stressful. He'd barely been in his right mind, of course- but the moment his senses had returned to him, and he'd realized the extent of what he'd done and who had stopped him…
…well. He was still amazed they were both back to calling him Ingo so easily.
"Regardless," Ingo cleared his throat, "-we should press on."
Elesa groaned, but something actually seemed to twinkle in his brother's eye. Ingo caught it, tilting his head slightly. His brother could not read his current face as well as the one that mirrored his own, but he still knew him well enough to pick up on the silent question.
"You are a Noble, brother," Emmet began, "-you can carry us."
Elesa perked up at that, her eyes nearly sparkling. "Oh yeah! Like you carried us down the mountain yesterday!"
Ingo would have flushed, were he capable. "Surely that's not-"
"You know," Emmet began, "-it would be verrry bad if we reached Mesprit and did not have the energy left to face its trial."
"Ooh, you've got a point." Elesa nodded. "It would be bad."
Ingo just stared at the two for a long moment, before heaving a defeated sigh. Once they got started, they would not stop. Best to admit defeat quickly.
"Very well," Ingo said, "-you may board this carriage once again."
Emmet and Elesa high fived. Ingo sighed again.
Scooping the pair of them up was simple enough. With his current ten foot frame, he could easily hold them with one arm. He suspected they were simply enjoying the novelty of it… which did not explain Akari clambering up his back, perching herself on his shoulders and digging her hands into his mane, holding tight.
"Wha-"
"If everyone else is getting on the Lord Zoroark Express," she said, "-I'm not getting left out. Besides, I can't keep up with you when you run."
Hm. Fair enough, he supposed.
"Wait," Elesa began-
"-run?" Emmet weakly finished.
Ingo ran.
#zoroark possession au#submas#pla akari#elesa#op I know you said the highlands but I got an idea that was just *slightly* different#hope that's okay!!!#anyways I'll probably polish this up and post it on AO3 tomorrow#lord zoroark au

Various Pokemon Characters Getting Hisui'd HCs
▲Ingo and Emmet▽
● Ingo and Emmet, of course, the Twin Wardens of the Highlands from opposing clan's. Both have no recollection of each other, but have a strange bond with one another that demands respects and camaraderie. They look out for one another and often are caught battling and training against one another. People describe them as brothers, but both Wardens deny it. They would surely recall something so important. The twins take wonderful care of their Nobles and the highlands. For such a dangerous place to even slightly considered safe is thanks to their hard work and dedication. (They also live together, but they claim it's for safety reasons. Neither acknowledge how natural it feels for them to share a home, nor how lonely they feel when apart.)
🌌Cyrus🛰
☄️ Cyrus landed in the fieldlands after a strange portal ripped apart in the Distortion World. The Galactic Boss tries to resist the pull of the portal, but ultimately was dragged through it. His screams echo, but there is no one around to hear them. He crashes to the earth in a strange, yet familiar location. Lake Verity. The world must be mocking him.
☄️ It's a rare moment in which Cyllene finds herself exploring with a group of Survey Corps members. She leads them, naturally. The Captain is reading over some reports at a base camp when a low star member rushes in yelling about someone falling from a height at the lake. Normally, she would have left it alone, but something within her prompted her to join the rescue effort.
☄️ When they arrive, she sees him. Something strikes her dead in the heart. His resemblance to her is something uncanny. Cyllene's mind rushes to explanations. Was he a distant relative of hers, perhaps? A Zoroark's trick? She kneels down and presses a hand to his sunken in cheeks. No illusion here. He's rushed away to Jublife, the expedition ended early.
☄️ Cyrus wakes up. He then realises he has absolutely not idea who he is nor where he is. A pink-haired woman is tending to someone beside him. She gasps when she notices that he's awake. “Oh! I have to go tell Miss Cyllene!” Cyrus wants to ask more questions, but the harder he tries to think, the more his head throbs with a numb pain. The woman returns with another woman. One who is similar to him in appearance. She sighs after seeing that he's awake. “Who are you?” Her voice is stern and strong, someone who knows how to demand respect. “I'm Cyrus,” he responds, feeling as if there were more to his introduction. She nods, “And from where did you come, Cyrus?” He blanks. Where did he come from? It's impossible to recall. A solid, harsh feeling takes a hold of his lungs and his breath grows short. He doesn't know. All he knows is his name. The breaths grow rough and harsh, he hates it. Why does he hate it?
☄️ Cyllene takes an uncharacteristic pity on the man. Perhaps, the familial pulls something over her. He works in the Survey Corps under her, proving himself as quite a decent trainer. Not so much an explorer, however. It's not long until he moves into her office as an assistant of sorts. His help is deeply appreciated, and he never fails to make himself useful for her. She knows there's something plaguing him outside of the memory loss, but she can't figure it out. Cyrus is taken under her wing, and she corrects and assists with any behaviours that draw her concern.
♠️Grimsley♥️
♤ Grimsley… Well, Grimsley was certain that it wasn't his job, but as an Elite Four member it was his job to help secure the region. The portal was terrifying and pulsing, but a curiosity overcame him. It was a risk, and he loved risks. He stepped forward and reached a careful hand toward the light. Suddenly. A force gravitated him into the mouth of space. People gasped as the gambler was ripped right from his place in reality.
♡ Grimsley panicked as he watched a field of filth approach from above. He was falling from the sky. Dangerously, in fact. Quickly, he repositioned his body to land on his feet. Luck favoured his side, and his lower body bared much of the brunt of the fall. Though, the next die roll proved insufficient, and a startled Stunky sprayed him. The scent was burning and painful, causing him to vomit all over his nice suit. He blinked a few times… Who was he? He was Grimsley, yes, but who was Grimsley?
◇ A red haired girl caught him mindlessly wandering the mirelands and quickly navigated him to her home in order to help him receive help. Everyone knew what had happened to him, judging by his repugnant cologne he donned. Adaman took pity on the stranger and offered him a home temporarily. Grimsley accepted it with no other idea of where he could go.
♧ While he lingered there, he spotted someone who was strange in appearance, just as he was. A taller man in a tattered white coat with a matching hat. His eyes squinted whenever he saw Grimsley, but the black-haired man only waved. The Diamond Clan noted his abilities with pokemon, but Grimsley felt more ensnared by these games. He carved a six faced cube and marked each side with a number before offering a guessing game in exchange for money or precious items. He discovered he quite enjoyed these and had skill in them. The feeling was nostalgic, too.
♤ Grimsley took off from the Diamond Clan and became a travelling man of fortune. A round against him could lead to extreme riches or a loss of everything to your name. He was feared and beloved, revered by all those who resided in Hisui. He took up a home in mirelands, feeling strangely at ease there. Despite the pain it caused him, he took up a Stunky as a partner. She soon became a fearsome Skuntank which put down anyone who would dare assault her trainer.
⚡️Elesa🌟
⭐️ Elesa was determined to find out what happened to the twins. They were friends, and she knew that they would never disappear like that, abandoning the Gear Station to rot and not a single word to anybody. She wanders around the tunnels, convinced that they would either turn up or have the worst-case scenario discovered. No, what she instead finds is a blindingly bright portal that swirls hypnotisingly. The model swallowed. She shouldn't. She should report the anomaly and run away. She knew this is what must have happened to Ingo and Emmet, however. She runs through.
⭐️ Elesa screeches as winds blows post her body. The ground is fast approaching below her. Was she going to die? Is that what happened to the twins? Her body crashes against the ground harshly. Out like a light, taking her memories of her previous life with her. A sniffing wakes her up. A Shinx stares at her curiously before locking her cheek. Elesa shoots up with the inability to recall anything but her own name. Fear shoots through her body as a sob leaves her throat. The feline presses himself to her comfortingly and purrs. The black-haired woman unconsciously brushes and through his soft fur.
⭐️ She wanders around the area for a little while until stumbling across a gated area. Her feet carry her as fast as they can as she pleads for help. The guard stares at her pitifully and shakes his head. They aren't letting outsiders in currently. Elesa grows frustrated and stomps away. A small boy catches her huffing around the Fieldlands and takes her to the Pearl Settlement. Irida catches one look at her and says a word so familiar to Elesa, yet so far away: “Ingo.”
⭐️ She's taken in by the Pearl Clan and becomes a local celebrity, with her, she calms all of the members of the Luxray line with ease. In fact, most electric types seem to love her. That's fine because Elesa loves them, too. She's asked to take on a roll as Warden for a Noble without one. After having, it explained what that is, she is chosen by a Lord Luxray that lurks in an area near the Coronet Highlands. It's there she meets this, “Ingo”. Unfortunately, he first thought is to insult his outfit. It's just too tattered. He's deeply offended. She meets the other Warden of the Highlands and says a similar thing. He laughs at it and they become quick friends.
⭐️ She's smug about her entry into Jublife as a Pearl Clan Warden. Though, the first thing she does is raid their clothier, who was more than happy to serve her. Somehow, she would make the clan tunic fashionable. Somehow. Overall, she's a respected Warden with a team of dazzling electric types. (And that Shinx who woke her up is kept as a pet.)
🐈⬛Nanu❤️🩹
🌑 Nanu regretted countless things. He especially regretted seeing that portal. It was trouble, he knew, but his duty as Kahuna meant securing the safety of Ula'Ula Island. It wasn't an Ultra Wormhole; however, that became quickly apparent. He yelled and struggled to escape the pull of the strange opening, but nothing could save him. A punk from Team Skull watched in horror as the Kahuna Nanu was ripped from Alola.
🌑 It spit Nanu out in the sky, which led to him falling, naturally. He's not inexperienced, unfortunately, and is quick to position himself to land on his feet. Sand sprays up around him as he lands on a beach. Nanu sighs. That's not an Alolan beach. He judged the pokemon carefully. It was Sinnoh…? Had the portal just spit him out in a remote part of Sinnoh. That was manageable. Annoying, but manageable.
🌑 He then runs into an old man in a strange outfit. The old guy cocks a brow at Nanu. The Kahuna asks for directions to the nearest town, to which the stranger informs him it's Jublife Village. Nanu immediately recognised that was wrong. Looking around, he makes some important observations. Back in time, too, it appeared. Nanu wasn't getting a break, was he? He asks if that's where the other guy was headed, who nods. He tags along with him, keeping his modern pokeballs hidden away. He may have lost his Meowths, but at least he head his Persian.
🌑 It's soon after that he becomes friends with the stranger, Ginter, who invites him to join his merchant guild. Nanu, seeing an opportunity to secure money and entrance to places around his strange new world, agrees. He's given a uniform that's too much for his liking, but he bears it. Getting home and information was going to be no easy task. Though, he does manage to build a home in the coastlands, feeling at home there.
🌑 His explorations as a merchant lead him to travelling across this 'Hisui' and meeting ancestors to many strong trainers of modern Sinnoh. He determines a possible relation of Ginter to Gym Leader Volkner, Zisu to Elite Four Flint, and Commander Kamado of Team Galaxy to Professor Rowan. It was all quite strange. It became only stranger when he spotted Team Galactic Boss Cyrus as an assistant to Captain Cyllene. It was certainly that Cyrus because Looker had informed Nanu about him. He later sees Elite Four Grimsley of Unova as a travelling gambler, which increases his concern. A trip to the highlands slapped him three times as he saw more Unovan trainers just existing. How had this happened?
🌑 Nanu's attention is turned to a fellow guild member. Volo made the Kahuna's old instincts hop into gear. Secretly, he began to observe the blond's movements and actions. All of which quickly became more and more suspicious. He admittedly isn't the best merchant, but he does enough for Ginter to keep him around (and the old man just likes him). He's watching everything unfold around him and debates getting involved should anything get worse.

Let's say versions from other universes. Like the mystery dungeon verse
Then pure confusion and disbelief.
“Why is time broken again? Where are the mystery dungeons? What does Arceus mean there are no Time Gears in this universe?! “
It’s debatable whether the Mystery Dungeon Lake Trio know how to form the Red Chain. A key factor of their reaction is whether humans have existed normally in the MD universe. We know the Decrepit Lab friend camp hints at them once existing there. If they did? I figure there are key differences between how each universes’ humans developed. Uxie will be curious about how these “Poké Balls” work and mildly horrified. Mesprit is worried about how much fear they can feel from the humans.
And Azelf? I imagine they’ll be more proactive wanting to test how well the humans can battle.
The Hisuian Forms are the biggest kicker. We know Hisuian Zoroark came about from being shunned by humans. Does their own world have a version of the normal-ghost Zoroark-line? Can the ones with normal pre-evolutions figure out how to evolve into the regional forms? The Lake Trio strikes me as less Godly than in regular canon. We know Grovyle was able to nearly kill Azelf—are Pokémon, legendary or otherwise, from the MD universe able to speak English?
Like Meowth except it comes naturally to them.
There is a lot of confusion between the two Lake Trios. Both Uxie exchange knowledge trying to learn more about their respective worlds. Azelf and Azelf enjoy seeing how the humans have persisted against many natural disasters over the years. The Mesprits enjoy chatting with Enamorus about their favorite emotional moments; marriage proposals, the awkward first courting attempts, a first child…
(There are, of course, somber and bittersweet moments too.) What strikes the native Lake Trio as curious is that the MD Trio guard hidden lakes. Lakes Verity, Valor, and Acuity have been their homes since Hisui/Sinnoh was created. The whole Time Gear situation puzzles them when they just guard a Plate. Visiting Lake Trio kinda have to be babysat because they don’t do a good job of avoiding humans. Poke Balls are harder to break out from than they look.
What are Time Gears even made out of?

Nice to meet you, Rotomblr! I'm Lillyan, and I'm a Pokémon Coordinator from Ryme City. My family owns a Pokémon cafe, the Pikachu Patisserie, here in town, and... Dang, I don't really know where to go from here. I guess I should tell you about all my Pokémon!
Main team:
Goro the Pikachu - My first Pokemon that my brother brought home from Kanto for my 10th birthday. He's the Champion there, see. He actually started his Pokemon journey the same year I started kindergarten.
Oh! Oh! Let me! Let me! So, when I was really little, I fell through a uh… Professor Krane said it’s called an “Ultra Wormhole”? And I woke up in a completely different world! It was the exact opposite of all the stories I had heard about humans! I’m sure there’s a way I could go back if I wanted to, but I like my life here. I’ll be signing my posts with this symbol ->⚡
//he's named after his scrapped evolution
Dante the Samurott - Gifted to me as an Oshawott by Mr. Cyrano while I attended Blueberry Academy. He's my go-to for water-themed Contest routines and the occasional tournament. I named him after the protagonist of The Count of Monte Cristo.
//I headcanon that there's a fair amount of media in the Pokemon world that actually doesn't include Pokemon as prominently as we'd expect. Like, if it involves animals, it'll be Pokemon instead, but if not it's pretty 1-to-1
Erik the Meowscarada - A Sprigatito I was given during my exchange program at Uva Academy. After seeing Meowscarada in the Pokedex, I was immediately reminded of Phantom of the Opera.
Edward the Zoroark - A Zorua given to me by a strange man in Driftveil City, who wanted to perform in the Contest there. I quickly came up with a new routine for him and he decided to come on my journey with me.
Amy the Tinkaton - Caught as a Tinkatuff during my Treasure Hunt. Named after the hammer-wielding Buneary of the same name from the Sonic the Sandslash series.
Carmen the Lopunny - One of my surprisingly few “home turf” catches. (Did I spell that right? I hope I spelled that right.) She was only on the team for a few days before evolving. Must be the Poffins.
In rotation:
Arsene the Lucario - Originally caught as a Riolu in the Terarium. He's relatively secluded and kind of a drama king. He's named after the fictitious gentleman thief Arsene Lupin.
Orpheus the Glaceon - Starting as an Eevee I caught in Kanto while visiting my brother, he evolved into a Glaceon during an Ice-type Tera Raid.
Diogo the Empoleon - Originally caught as a Piplup in Lake Verity. Metal Claw is really good for shearing ATEP.
Charlotte the Alcremie - A Ruby Swirl Alcremie with a Love Sweet that I hatched from an Egg as part of a school project.
Raptors - A Shiny Mimikyu, also hatched from an Egg I received elsewhere. Named after one of my favorite YouTubers.
Emily the Vespiquen - One of the first Pokemon I caught at the start of my journey. I knew female Combee were super rare, so since I felt so lucky to find one, I named her after Glitter Lucky.
//This is based on a real-life occurrence during my X playthrough, but my game crashed and I lost her
Libitina the Absol - She tends to act up whenever something bad is about to happen, which I assume is normal behavior for her species, but I'm not sure.
Lazarus the Tyrantrum - Named after the man Jesus raised from the dead, since he was revived from a fossil. Yes, Christianity does exist in the Pokemon world. I say this //in character because of Rotomblr’s multiversal reach. We believe Arceus to be the partner Pokemon of God, but Arceus itself is not God, you’re thinking of Arkeism.
Zero - A Porygon (now Porygon-Z) that I once impulsively saved from being put down after its previous Trainer’s son suffered a seizure due to its Tri-Attack
Myra the Ninetales
Other notable ‘mons:
Ralph - A Rattata I caught on Route 22 in Kanto. He wouldn't stop pestering me for a battle, and then just refused to go down. I asked if he wanted to come with and hail mary-ed a Poke Ball at him. He’s more of a traveling companion than a team Pokémon.
Lycoris - A Floette named for the red spider lily it carries around.
Lona - A Glameow originally owned by a friend of my brother's, then my grandmother, and then us. I think we accidentally gave her microtrauma from moving her around so much because she's kinda mean sometimes.
Prayer - A Purrloin we adopted for Christmas a few years back. Despite the bad reputation of his species, he’s just a shy lil sweetheart
Phoebe the Eevee - My mother’s first Pokemon from when she was my age. I’m curious as to why she hasn’t evolved yet, if they’ve been together for so long. She’s the mascot of the cafe, despite the name.
ATEP the Dubwool
Cooper the Obstagoon
Giovanna the Shiny Pikachu (caught in a Max Raid, name means "God is gracious")
Madame the Galarian Farfetch'd
Pikablu the Azumarill
Kimba the Luxray
Oktavio the Primarina
Sage the Ceruledge
Supernova the Tauros (Paldean Combat breed)
Balto the Lycanroc (Daylight form)
Blueberry the Minun
Mastema the Vivillon //named after a demon that shares its name with a genus of moth, referencing its National Pokedex number
Other Pokemon who work at the cafe, but technically don’t belong to us:
Aconite the Leafeon
Levi the Vaporeon
Raspberry the “Minusle”
Charcolt the Charmander
Rainer the Squirtle
Forresaur the Bulbasaur
Cinnabun the Scorbunny
Chinta the Minccino //I only speak Dora-level Spanish so if that’s a bad word, please let me know bc I got it from the chinchilla episode of Go Diego Go
Crackle the Pansear (named for being the “Hear No Evil” monkey)
Goggles the Simipour (named for being the “See No Evil” monkey)
Peter “Cottontail” the Whimsicott
Horus the Starly
Howler the Chimchar
Kagome the Gardevoir
Madoka the Jirachi (different from the one connected to the legends of the region, but we have no idea where it came from)
Vulpvi the Vulpix (named for the Roman numeral of six, referencing its six tails, as early Pokedexes once gave it this name)
and Gretchen the Hattrem

So...
typically pokemon movies are just feature-length episodes of the Anime, which focus on the mythical pokemon of the week. Or Zoroark.
I think the first few were in cinemas, and barring whatever detective pikachu was, they generally devolved into TV/DVD movies.
And then there's THIS strange creature.
-WAIT HOLD THE FUCK UP, THESE MOVIES GET MANGA ADAPTATIONS???????????? ..Anway, back to what I was saying.
PokemonTheMovieIChooseYOu is, in fact, a very loose retelling of the original pokemon anime. It's basically a reboot:
It features Ash meeting Pikachu for the first time, and the plot of the film expands on the ending of the first episode of the show where Ash sees Ho-Oh. I dont think that ever mattered in the show - in this version, Ash gets its feather which makes him a chosenone rainbow hero. Or something.
Instead of Brock, Misty and Gary, they came up with new characters that fill the exact same roles. Verity and... Saurraul...? Are ash's travelling companions, and his asshole rival is some guy named Cross.
Team rocket is also there. They do not matter in this.
now, one of the strange things about this movie is its Regional Identity.
The entire thing takes place in Kanto, since it's a reboot of season 1. They adapt the "goodbye butterfree" arc, and sort of adapt the "charmander evolved and now he's a problem child" arc? Also he tangentialy fights some gym leaders but it isnt important. IDK.
However, this movie itself is decidedly a part of Generation 7. The Mythical of the Hour is Marshadow, the pre-order-bonus-ass event release for UltraSun/UltraMoon, and the movie came out in 2017. But besides Cross using an Incineroar and a Lycanrock, there are basically no other important Gen 7 pokemon in the movie.
Instead, this movie takes a startling amount of its identity from Gens 2 and 4. Which itself is kind of a package deal since Gen 4 had a lot of Johto Identity, and then the gen 4 Johhto Remakes packed Sinnoh Identity into Johto.
Marshadow itself is overshadowed by not only Ho-Oh, but also the three legendary doggos, Entei, Raikou and Suicune, who show up in the movie for... A reason, I'm sure. I remember Raikou being REALLY superflous - like, Entei got a brief fight, which (I think) introduced the two boring companion characters, and Suicune got... a memorable scene at least. Raikou just kinda showed up in a way that makes me think they almost forgot they were meant to include all three of the dogs.
These movies are meant to provide context to the mythical pokemon, but it can't really do that, because the mythos of this movie revolves entirely around ho-oh the god-bird and its feather-macguffin. Marshadow's a tangential observer to most of this. It's implied to be working for Ho-Oh. or something. And we're meant to assume that none of this is canon ANYWAY, since it's a seperate continuity.
Oh yeah, the main plot of the movie that interrupts the retold plot of the original show is that you can take the feather to a specific mountain to meet ho-oh. ShadowTheHedgehog-rival Cross goes all Angsty at Ash because it's revealed that shadow the crosshog also saw Ho-oh but didnt get a chosenonefeather. I think he grabbed the feather and made it turn shadowy and evil, thus causing marshadow to use the evil power to mind-control a bunch of pokemon? I watched this movie a bunch of times, but that was over five years ago.
Also at one point ash has a tantrum and marshadow takes the opportunity to trap him in a dream world where pokemon dont exist and hes a normal high-schooler. I dont... really get it...
ANYWAY,
it's also worth mentioning that Verity and Saurraul are both from Sinnoh, and have a Piplup and a Lucario respectively. There was a theory that Verity's mother was Cynthia, but apparently the director debunked the theory because he hates fun. Mostly Im surprised that anybody made theories about this movie it feels like only I watched it
Also, they adapt the rival storyline from the Sinnoh seasons of the anime, wherin charmander was abandoned by angsty-ass cross. So there's that, too.
Really, this movie is just a whole jumble of things with a STRANGE identity. It's trying to be a typical pokemon movie for marshadow. It's ALSO trying to be a retelling/reboot of the original anime. It's ALSOALSO centered on the mythology of Johto for some reason - all I can think is that they probably wanted to pay off Ho-Oh being in the first episode?
The sum of all these parts is a movie which feels like a lego set that includes Duplo blocks and Mega-Brixx in it. It's simultaniously strange and interesting but also boring and unremarkable, and I only care because I had it on DVD and thus watched it at least ten times. I remmeber the animation in some of the fights being decent.
The truest legacy is simply the fact that this weird alternate continuity was continually used for more pokemon movies after. The most recent movies, which I know only as The Zeraroa Movie and The Zarude movie - I do know their names, but I refuse to call them anything else. they used to have enough DIGNITY to put the Mtythical of the Week's NAME IN THE TITLE-
Yes, every movie since other than the CG remake of the Mewtwo Movie is still set in this alternate timeline. I guess they just got completely sick of tying the movies into the show, even when they kinda stopped putting effort into that at this point anyway...? It certainly seems more convenient for them to just have an unattached but still recognisably-marketable ash ketchum who can continue to be in movies without any consideration for what his team is in the show right now or any crap like that. This version of ash can just kind of wander in and out of any storyline if he wants.
Now I jsut wonder what'll happen next if pokemon movies keep going. Will this alternate ash survive after the real one ceases to exist, condemning the former main character to an existence only in tie-in movies that nobody cares about? Will the movies go back to being about the original ash and act as epilogues to his onebillion-season storyline? Will they make an alternate universe LIKO who serves the same purpose of only being in movies? Will the movies start tying into the NEW anime? Will they just put mythical pokemon into the anime's actual story, in a decades-late redemption of the GS-Ball plotline, and stop making movies purely out of obligation? WILL SIGILYTH FINALLY BE PATCHED INTO SCARLET AND VIOLET????
Only time will tell. Both in terms of the time it takes for a new movie to be made, and the time it would take for me to remember this topic and look into what's up with the latest movie which at that point would be years old.
...Anyway!
nobody talks about how fucking wierd "Pokemon The Movie: I choose you!" is
(also known as the marhsadow movie)

akira visited the lakes in the order: lake valor → lake verity → lake acuity
he'd already felt a connection to lake valor when first visiting the area so that was his first instinct for which lake to go to. willpower is his Thing so he just chucked those balms at azelf like crazy thinking he'd be able to eventually hit it if he tossed enough - it didn't even register at first that continuing to persist and not give up was probably part of the test
verity was like. well not much interesting really happened at verity... (in the future I should probably look up the possible answers you can give mesprit & note which answers i took... i didn't keep track at the time 😔
he was full of confidence when meeting uxie (confident in his future knowledge of pkmn + zoroark went down in just 2 hits) but then he got the question wrong thrice & had to flip through his pokédex to get the answer

Does Lu have any romantic interests?
I want to give him one so so bad bc he’s such a sweet boy and deserves the world but I’m struggling to come up with a concept tbh. I have a very tentative idea for a Zoroark OFC who almost never shows her true identity due to Reasons, but Lu sees straight past the disguises since he only is able to see someone’s aura. ‘I never wanted to be seen by anyone again’ versus ‘I can only see the real you no matter how hard you try to hide’ type dynamic. Thoughts, everyone?👀I’m welcome to input!

Thinking about Zoroark again, and there's so many good ways she and Lu could have met. (It's fun to think about, so I'm gonna leave this here, do with it as you please)
Imagine in the time Eliana was gone, Lu took a mission for Zoroark. In their first meeting, Lu notices she's a zoroark in disguise, but she must have her reasons, so he doesn't mention it. He completes the job (maybe an escort mission), and that's that.
A year later, Lu bumps into her somewhere. She's wearing a different illusion, but he recognises her aura immediately, greets her warmly, and asks how she's doing. Zoroark is thrown off. She doesn't remember him at first or know how she was recognised, but when he explains it, she just feels a burst of anxiety that someone can so easily see through her. Lu sees her aura flare with this sudden emotion, and all of a sudden, they're in a deadlock. If he helps, he's just exposing her vulnerability. If he doesn't, she has to pick up the pieces herself.
Okay I love this🥹thank you so much for sending this in!
Lu is such a polite sweetheart of a gentleman and he would absolutely not think twice about speaking kindly to a past client (and does so regularly if he runs into them). Bless his heart, he’d be so torn on what to do—he’s learned not to push Eliana when she’s having similar reactions bc she tends to clam up, but at the same time he wants to help because of his nature and his personality both being so naturally concerned for others' emotions. Poor guy.
Verity on the other hand doesn’t like it at first. At all. She’d rather avoid him in Town and will go to somewhat comical lengths to keep from interacting with him while she’s there. She is totally unaccustomed to being "seen" in any capacity, and has next to no experience with having a safe space to be herself in any capacity, emotional or physically.
They'd definitely be dancing around each other for a while before either of them broke the ice!
(Also…ruminating on the idea of her possibly being another transformed human since she has a ‘people’ name, and I like the idea of someone already insecure suddenly gaining this ability to hide themselves more thoroughly and borderline abusing it thinking it will help give themselves more confidence…when in actuality it just makes them lose grasp on who they really are.🤔)
Hmmm…I need to add this to the idea pile…

For a name for Zoroark, may I suggest Verity?
Verity: truth, a true principle or belief, especially one of fundamental importance. (Oxford dictionary)
Also, a fun nod to lake verity in sinnoh
Ohhh…I really like that🥺canon!!!

saw that you were looking for ship names for lu and the aforementioned zoroark, so i decided to offer my two cents on the matter..
this one isn't as good as nightshade!shipping, but i think it kinda fits either way?
so, worldsoul!shipping was more or less what i had in mind. cheesy, i know, but i wanted to elaborate on this one.
the world being what zoroark hides herself from beneath all her illusions, and the world being what lu cannot see due to his own blindness, and her soul being what she leaves exposed, kind of like an aura, which lu *can* read and see properly. shielding yourself from the world, leaving your soul, your heart, your aura as the only thing that lets people see who you are, and lu being the one who can see who she really is. no walls to guard, no disguises to hide, he knows what he is witnessing and he wishes to cherish it with all that he can, with it being his "whole world" to an extent.
i know you asked sofie for the most part, but i thought this was interesting nonetheless.
Sinnoh…sinnohhhh…you mad genius…I love this so much!🥹It is now canon! *gavel noise*
(Now I just need a name for the poor gal herself🤔brainstorming welcome here too! I was thinking Zora but I feel like that’s too on the nose lol…but then again there’s “(Rio)Lu(cario)”, so…maybe it’s not too cheesy haha—I figured she would hide her true name for a long time, go by different aliases with her disguises, and Lu’s the only one that figures out her guise at first but waits til she’s comfortable enough to open up about it since she’s not necessarily doing any crimes or w/e lol)
#always feel free to add your two cents!#especially with ideas as good as this😊#now fujii just needs to give me a ship name for somebody and I’ll have a set of three lol#fisara’s answers#my asks#worldsoul!shipping#lucario/lu#ao3: in the morning light#zoroark/verity

This is especially more true since Lu can see how one’s emotions impact their aura. It can tinge the colors, muddy the waters so to speak, and long term can alter their aura altogether (like grief or anger or smth for example). He really does care so much for everyone else since he was never truly shown that selfless kindness before he met Eliana (I headcanon that he moved to Treasure Town from somewhere remote to join the Guild and found the Relic Fragment when he got there and visited the beach the first time btw). To be able to find someone in such dire need of that kind of support, the way that Eliana supported him first, is so precious to him and he wants give that back tenfold. Zoroark would shy away from it at first, flighty and skeptical, and might even downright get defensive and angry at first—but he wouldn’t even flinch, used to Eliana’s outbursts. It’s his resolution, his steadfast kindness, that would win her over in the end. Then she’d be loyal to the death to him, willing to fight or die for him for giving her shelter when she’d given up on finding it.
Does Lu have any romantic interests?
