On Ibara, Hiyori and the Buisness world of Enstars

Smth smth hiyoiba is a push and pull relationship of who will drop their guard down first. Hiyori is usually first to do so, because of the way Ibara grew up he won’t drop it unless its a completely private space.

I would say that Ibara knows that Hiyori puts up an act. I’m pretty sure its canon that Hiyori was communicating with Eden during Getto Spectacle, and especially towards Eden and upper management. They’re aware of it, but its hard to be vulnerable with these two.

They trust each other. They’re aware of the power they do hold. (Though I’m not sure if the child soldier thing was told to Hiyori in canon) At least in the business world, I’m guessing. Hiyori still has connections, and Ibara has the power to turn his creative ideas into reality.

I really do want an exploration of the buisness side of Enstars. We do have canon corporations, but technically its a competitive monopoly. Eden climax has already brought us a set up, and bringing us to an understanding of how being an idolized person in a competitive market makes you lose yourself and greed talking to make those actions take place.

Their first interactions are about Hiyori’s judge of character and the inner workings of CosPro. (Saga Release 6) Because that is what they know about each other at that moment.

ES is operated mostly by Tenshouin related companies, making their name more widespread. Hiyori comments about this in his Idol Story 2. This is making (his family’s) the Tomoe Foundation’s name lessen. HappyEle, please tell me where the Tomoe’s put their money in. Because its definitely not the entertainment industry.

Anyway, by Hiyori’s actions I suspect that the rest of the Tomoe’s are overworkers~! ⭐️ So while his parent’s respect his decision of going to the entertainment industry, they probably dont understand why he got there in the first place~! ⭐️ That’s why Hiyori is so against Ibara working so much~! ⭐️

The Role of Memories

My sweet child, and my irreplaceable seed of the future... If you truly wish to leave nothing and no-one by the wayside... Then you must tread innumerable paths of tragedy, again, and again, and again. In the end, the day will come when you remember it all, and on that day will you truly be tested. On that day, you will turn your back on Paradise, with the weight of this world borne on your shoulders. I pray that when it comes, your memories of this sweet paradise will steady your hands and guide your feet.

I find this prediction of Surtr's rather haunting. We know from the main quest what the cost of bearing memories is. We even know what the cost was to MC—not simply the forgetting of their own prior to their summoning, but Lil Salomon too, that feeling of loneliness and incompleteness that follows them even in events, where there should only be happiness.

What will it cost them to take in all of the memories they've lived? And would this include the memories of the Exiles too, the lives they've never lived, but that nonetheless belong to them?

But I also find this hopeful too. This remembrance will put them directly on par with WR and Pillars. And though that last sentence in this prediction is merely a hope, I think it will come true: though the burden will be heavy, it will also ultimately steady their hands and guide their feet. Despite the personal cost, MC will ultimately achieve their goal—save every single person in Tokyo and break through the loops. And I think "every single person" will include MC themself.

DRDTtober Day...... uhhhhhh......

Given that we are (*checks calendar*) now half a year out from when DRDTtober 2024 was meant to begin, I think it's finally time to admit... yeah, I don't think I'm ever going to go back and make art for those prompts 😔✌️

I did, however, draw this back in September, in accordance with my original plans for the event! For those curious, below the cut is a (hopefully) brief explanation of what these designs were intended to be for, and why the comics ultimately never came to fruition.

As you may or may not recall, librariansrose kindly shared 2024's DRDTtober prompts to Tumblr well in advance of October's beginning, on August 22nd. Because I had so much fun making all of the comics for 2023, I definitely wanted to participate again. However, making the comics for 2023 took a lot of time, so I resolved that, if I was going to commit to these comics as a fairly big time investment, I might as well go all-in and make something nice that I could ideally use as a portfolio piece in the future. One polished, paneled page per day, in a 31-day overarching story. That idea also aligned with my personal desire to do something different than I had done last year, just for spice.

"This will be so easy!" I thought. "I have the end of August and the entirety of September to make my designs, write out my script, and get well ahead of drawing the comic itself so that I'll have plenty of buffer for the beginning of October!"

A few days after the prompts were shared, it was announced that DRDT Chapter 2 would resume on September 6th.

Suddenly, all of the time that I had mentally blocked to work on my DRDTtober comics was absorbed into watching the series itself and writing up my episode-by-episode dissections, as well as reading and responding to other various theories. It was awesome, obviously, but by the end of September I had done basically nothing other than make some very loose notes and draw up these first passes at character designs. At the beginning of October, I played with the idea of doing 7-page bursts at the end of each week, but when the first week ended, that turned into starting it mid-month and finishing in November, to starting in November, until it devolved into where we are now.

The biggest reason why I never wound up making this comic is because, to this day, I still don't have a clear idea of what its ending would be. With the comics being one connected story instead of 31 largely separate jokes, I needed to know what the ending would look like in order to properly set up the beginning. And, as I quickly found out, trying to make up a satisfying story that has to feature 30 random prompts in a specific order and feature 17 different characters when you only came in with the desire to make a comic instead of to share a story, is really, really hard 😅

What I can say about the story is that it would have had David as the protagonist, with Xander and Teruko starring as fellow main characters. They would go on a quest throughout the kingdom and into the wilderness, encountering the rest of the cast (themed to various prompts) at various points along the way. For instance, you might be able to recognize Hu, Eden, and Min as representing the "magical girls" prompt, while Whit and Charles exemplified the "coffee shop" prompt. There was also a lot of lore, the details of which were also never fully fleshed out. If people are interested in hearing more about the story, maybe I can share the beginning of the script that I wrote out, and the layout sketches I made of what the first few pages would look like.

But yeah, unless I wind up reviving this story in some other form in the future, I don't think I'll ever wind up circling back to 2024's prompts. I'd be much more likely to either just wait until 2025's prompts come out, or continue making my own events, like the Secret Santa and Valentine's Day series I've done. I guess I could maybe try to combine 2024's prompts with 2025's prompts to do two prompts per day? That sounds kinda interesting. But also really hard. No promises!

I have no idea if anyone was still anticipating these from me at all, but in my mind I did promise that I'd do the prompts eventually, and leaving that dangling thread was bothering me. Plus, I did like these designs, and hopefully you do, too! Probably so, if you're still reading this. Thank you for reading this! It's not a month's worth of comics or illustrations, but hopefully it was interesting regardless :)

One thing that kills me a little about dols writing is how the characters (especially the LIs) are kind of being left behind in the wake of game play gimmicks (that seem fun until you realize they're just a grind) and supernatural lore (that doesn't even directly tie into any of the LIs).

For example, cooking could have been a fun inclusion in the game, but its a real slog to get through and it doesn't actually progress any of the storylines or lead to really fun scenes with the love interests. Like, cooking could be tied into the cafe, or certain ingredients could be used in a food play context, or utilize cooking for dates with the LIs, because right now cooking is extremely under-developed (which is deserving of criticism imo. If the game or story aspect of a new mechanic isn't finished it probably shouldn't be pushed out, because there's no guarantee that any of the developers will actually get around to doing anything with it in the future).

Some of the lore is cool, but it isn't very well integrated with the characters. With the snake painting and the multi-ending gimmick it could have been a fun quest for the PC to discover new endings by talking to other characters. Like, maybe Winter knows one ending, but Sydney (or Jordan) has heard another, and Avery/Remy/Wren know another version of the events, so you get to learn more about the world while also learning about a character and their thoughts on the painting. Admittedly, I don't really care that much about the temple, but I attribute that to the writing not doing a great job at tying the temple into... anything, really lmao

The lack of dates and holiday events with the LIs is something I also find frustrating. Maybe it's just me, but doing Christmas and Valentine's events with all of the love interests seems like a really easy thing to plan for, and they're events that feel meaty enough that most people would be okay with getting a few big events like that every year. Not to mention you could have events that delve into lore while also focusing on LIs. The temple follows a made up pseudo pagan religion. Throw in festivals for the summer and winter solstices. Make a harvest festival that involves the PC and Alex needing to do something.

Somehow dol just feels like an incredibly strange game when I actually think about it. The LIs don't feel fleshed out enough for an actual dating sim adjacent game, but the lore isn't consistent enough for the game to be focused on that either (like what even is the island? why is it tribal? why not have it take vague inspiration from more Celtic mythology or English folklore instead, because the island just feels really gross the way it exists now).

The cooking def needs work, a lot of work. It takes so fucking long to get recipes to even make a fucking meal, they really gotta come up with a better way of doing the cooking. Like you said using it for dates and stuff would be really cool, there also needs to be more variety in scenes when you do give them food bc it's the same shit every time. I agree, if it isn't finished don't put it out. You can hint at it or even openly talk about it but don't give us halfassed shit.

Some of the lore is quite interesting and I used to be obsessed with it, all the things Winter would tell you about the antiques is cool. But now it just feels off? Idk there's just something different, it might be the writing.

We do need more dates and holidays, like what do you mean I can't give other LI's Christmas gifts? Why is Eden the only one with a valentines event? I also really love your idea of those events, they would be so cool. It really shouldn't be hard to implement more events, like sure it'll take a bit to write everything but I'm more than willing to wait for actually good content. I'm willing to wait months if it means the writing is better, just please.

There's some inconsistencies and things that have just been completely changed and/or removed. The characters genuinely need to be fleshed out and I say this with my whole fucking chest, do fucking better devs and writers

The island is fucking awful and kinda hella racist if you really think about it. It needs a whole rework or just be removed bc it serves no purpose aside from like 4 artifacts and a temple quest.

The Eden change seems so weird to me. Like they are "too ooc" But the Christmas event? Soft. Hallowen? Soft. Radio scene? Soft. That one bath scene where PC sleeps on them? Soft. Rescue from the Asylum? Soft. Reading romance novels by the fire? Soft. The traumadump scene? Soft. Not even getting into the Valentine event, which seems to them the biggest offender. Like homie more than half their events shows them being soft towards the PC, if anything the fuckass prey-hunter thing is only prevalent the first week or less you spend with them in the cabin and then it's crickets unless you piss them off deliberately or don't visit the woods.

And this has been a THING for YEARS, and suddenly they gotta turn them back into this one note guy (gn) that is turbo abusive instead of having any depth because of the vision™ (that hasn't been of any importance until now) and for what??? So they keep being sidelined by most everyone that goes for the highschool LI's? And like is this rewritte really so pressing when most everyone else doesn't even have seasonal events and Avery over there barely has any content to the point of being a cardboard cutout of a LI compared to the rest? Like seriously the most interesting thing going on in their scenes is the Poker one and mostly because you get to see OTHER character that aren't them. Or Alex for that matter, if you take away the pregnancy content they really have got nothing going on that is not tied to the damn farm (that most PC's run for them so there's that).

Don't even get me started on the Black Wolf tho, talk about UNDERCOOKED and having no character to be OOC about (but no one even gives enough of a shit for that one). But Eden is the pressing concern, we gotta take that dimensional part and shoot it out the back, we only have room for one character with hidden softness and that goes to Whitney who might not pimp you out if you beg enough I guess, but hey they like sanrio merch. Like I get it, they want the Rapeville game where they fuck dogs to be super gritty and dark (but hey do NOT talk about abortion that is a step too far) and where no joy or whimsy is allowed, but man you already have enough misery as IS.

For a dogrape game, they sure neglect their one canine love interest 😔 But I agree, it's hard not to feel like there more favoritism on the school LI's.

12welve: this popular night club is never one to miss out on a theme. the walls are covered in hearts and the signature neon lights have been switched to exclusively pink and red. make sure to stop by and grab a valentine's day special cocktail ! they'll be serving pink gin martinis, red hot and bothered's, love potion no. 9's, strawberry sangrias, and between the sheets'. don't worry, the DJs wouldn't be caught dead playing slow jams !

body: what's a better place to find love than in a strip club ? the beloved body has embraced the power of venus and decked out their establishment in rose petals and the scent of givenchy amarige. step into this garden of eden and you may just find your true love up on stage. remember, you can look, but don't touch !

coyote casino: feeling lucky in love ? head on over to coyote casino and put that to the test ! the slots and game tables have been decorated with fake, fluffy clouds and little cherubs to keep you company as you gamble on a check or two. if that's not your style, the glamorous in - house restaurants are having a valentine's day special for all the dinner date plans out there.

heartbreaker bar: looking for a reprieve from all the x's and o's ? heartbreaker has you covered. why, it's in the name after all ! naturally, this dive is holding a "stupid cupid" night for all the valentines averse miamians out there. featuring their signature hallway of memorabilia, take a pic in their photobooth with your anti - valentine and hang it up for everyone to see.

however, miami's street racing underground has a plan for their real true loves. their cars. at midnight, right after the rest of the world's valentine's day, a meet has been scheduled in bay parking garage. the renowned prowlers may lay claim to the structure, but it remains a perfect community spot for showing off rides away from any lawful eyes. be sure to stay in your lines, as most of the city's enthusiasts will be pulling up to truly show off their admiration !
