"Well," Alfred adjusted Bruce's faux beard, "I think you look splendid, Master Bruce. The children are going to love you."

"Or be terrified of him," Tim shrugged. "I know you're in costume, but try not to accidentally use your Batman voice on the kids."

"Keep it up," Bruce pulled the fluffy hat over his head, "and I'll make you my elf."

Tim tried to believe, if only for a little while. In kindergarten, his class had written letters to the big man...Tim's was only one sentence long.

"I want mommy and daddy home for Christmas."

They'd been in Egypt through New Year's.

He wrote again in first grade.

"Please let mom and dad be home for Christmas."

And in second.

"Please, if you are real at all, can you bring my parents home for Christmas?"

He hadn't really truly believed in the mythological man, but boy had he wanted to. Boy had he tried.

When at a Wayne Enterprises Christmas Gala, Tim meets "Santa". Reluctantly, Tim asks him for what he's always wanted for the holidays - to be with his family. He just might get his wish, even if it's not exactly in the way he would have ever imagined.

My black wide brimmed hat I got at a market in London that I wear everywhere because London

A zip-up hooded sweatshirt that I got a garage sale when I was 13 that still fits (sort of) almost 20 years later and is so soft.

My fun flowy patterned fall dresses that I never get to wear anymore because of my job.

i love the charm offensive!! did you finish reading it and if so, what did you think??

I just finished reading it! (Sorry for the delay, I was out of town!)

I really liked it. I am not usually a Romance genre fan (unless it's part of a larger fantasy, sci-fi, horror, etc plot), which is why I was so surprised at how much I enjoyed RWRB and The Charm Offensive. It was a little cheesy at times, but that's usual for romance, but I love how juxtaposed with the cheesy, there were serious moments of depression and heartbreak - and how much it overall dealt with mental health, accepting yourself, and other really great themes. Having an asexual (or demisexual?) main character was really refreshing. And the lack of pressure he had to put on a label on it/himself while he was figuring it all out was so important. There were also so many other side characters of varying sexualities and it created a very realistic and rounded cast of characters. While there are elements that I think were weaker or could have been improved, I really enjoyed it overall.

For the rest of fall, I have Summer Sons and White Trash Warlock in my queue. (Along with finishing my non-romance horror thriller I am halfway thru). I am going to look for more lighthearted LGBTQ+ Romance like RWRB & TCO, but with a fall or spooky vibe.

Prompt #16

Jason reveals to the batfam that he doesn't remember much beyond bits and pieces of his childhood and time leading up to his death, when it comes to memories pre-death, and just after his resurrection before his dunk in the Lazarus Pit.

Each in their own ways, different members of the batfam, share the memories they have of Jason, in the periods of time that Jason is missing memories.

Alfred requests Jason's help making food sometimes, and as they are making it, Alfred tells Jason about the last time they made it.

Tim occasionally leaves Jason notes with a photograph attached. The photo is usually of Jason as Robin, and the notes describe when the picture was taken. One memorable one was actually a picture of Jason at one of the galas, and Tim captured Jason's clear discomfort and readjustment of the suit that Jason had been told to wear that night.

Bruce will sometimes just recount a memory to Jason, but sometimes, when it is a longer or more emotional one, Bruce will find a private spot and write it down for Jason. They usually end up a few pages, and in a sort of letter format.

Damian will usually mention offhand some moment or interaction that he had with Jason during the time that they were both with the LoA at the same time. As soon as Damian sees the look of loss and confusion on Jason's face at his words, Damian will do his best to gently explain what he remembers.

The other bats do the same if they have interacted with Jason in the past, but most of the memories have come from Alfred, Bruce, Tim, and Damian. Jason even keeps a box of photos and notes and letters.

7 Sentence Sunday

This is from a scene that came to me that I want to put into this fic. I haven't gotten to this scene yet, but I've already gotten it written out. Now I just need to build up to it.

“You’re a dangerous person, Carlos,” TK says in a soft voice as he looks at the man across from him.

Carlos smirks and the look shouldn’t be sending TK’s stomach into a flutter of butterflies. TK wondered where the shy man he had first met months before had gone - not that TK was going to complain about this new side he was getting to see.

“How so?” Carlos asks in a voice that tells TK that Carlos already knows. TK doesn’t have to say it, doesn’t have to spell it out but they both know he will.

“You make me believe that I can have things I want,” TK says, taking a tentative step closer. “That I can have you.”

Carlos reaches out for him and TK closes the distance, a soft sigh falling from his lips as Carlos cups his cheeks. The touch is so simple, so soft that if TK were to close his eyes he’s sure it would feel like he’s imagining it. Carlos runs his thumb over TK’s cheekbone and TK shivers, convinced that this is all a dream he’ll wake up from soon.

“You can have whatever you want, Tyler.”
