This is actually the best thing I’ve ever seen
@zahnie i am kind of mad tbh bc now i keep thinking about that leverage/batman crossover and it’s ridiculous. they’re using a charity gala as a way to get into the manor. eliot immediately pegs alfred for former mi6, but he can’t figure out what the fuck bruce’s deal is. something about the way he stands or the way he watches the room or his shoulders or something. “is it not distinctive enough?” “oh, it’s distinctive as hell, i just don’t know what it is”. let’s say it’s older bruce so hardison has to get into a hacker fight with tim. sophie can’t grift bc there are too many rich people who’d recognize her in attendance. parker can’t infiltrate the catering service because they run that shit tighter than the white house (WHY is he so paranoid about his CATERERS what the HELL i’ve seen BANKS less lax about tracking employees than this) so she has to pretend to be a model. that backfires so fast because bruce is so nice and wants to know if she’s okay bc she seems uncomfortable. parker is thrilled when she discovers the house is full of secret passages but that also ends poorly when she turns a corner and bruce is standing there like “hey there, you seem lost”. he’s still wearing the tux and drinking his champagne. he helpfully guides her to the bathroom since she is having such trouble finding it. eliot has a tense standoff with alfred bc this is wayne manor alfred and that means he is like an older, british eliot who’ll shoot a motherfucker. hardison and tim get distracted playing wow together and it isn’t clear exactly how that happened. there has to be at least one scene where eliot and bruce are fighting and the rest of the team just watches instead of doing anything useful because it’s actually kind of really hot. they don’t even really hurt each other so it’s fine. probably fine. just let them keep pinning each other to the floor for a while, it’s fine. bruce has a lot of helpful critiques for nate’s plan that nate does not appreciate. the obvious thing is that they figure out he’s batman but it’s kind of funnier if they don’t and just think bruce wayne is an inexplicable bamf. they’ve all learned a valuable lesson about judging people based on appearances. bruce flirts with sophie and nate pretends not to be bitter about it but he gazes out at the gotham skyline and broods. it’s just what happens when you’re in gotham. it’s a very broodworthy skyline. make fun of batman all you want but you look out at that skyline and try not to brood. you can’t. even superman broods. i mean, he looks like he’s brooding. he’s usually trying to remember if he left the oven on because every time he decides to make himself a nice dinner a supervillain attacks and four hours later his baked ziti is charcoal. it still counts as brooding. nate never stood a chance.

leverage is so fucking funny. man manages to find the most mentally ill and neurodivergent group of thieves on the market + an even more mentally ill guy whose literal job description was trying to chase all of them, and forces them into a found family speed-run by trying to blow them all up. they lowkey stage a full fucking country wide coup and are like eh 🤷 just another wednesday. this might be a fun place to vacation tho i guess. sophie shows up to her own funeral twice. they're so good at convincing people of their shit that they make a guy's body start reacting to an illness he doesn't have because it isn't real. go completely out on a limb and basically hand this one guy a new password for his computer so they can get into it and he goes with it. parker and hardison have straight up just "fake it 'till you make it"d into the fbi without even attempting to cover their tracks beyond just These Two Guys. half their clients never asked to be their clients and don't know they're their clients, and the other half are random people who find them who fuckin knows how, meanwhile no government agency can track them down without selling their soul to sterling. they make a point to have a dramatic scene w a Big Bad Shadowy Government Guy who doesn't actually get caught or brought to justice or anything telling them he's going to hunt them all down, and in any other show this would probably earn at least a minor arc later on but he literally never shows up again. an entire season finale hinged on a cake and a bunch of clams. they accidentally made eliot a celebrity not once, not twice, but three times. parker blew up her foster parents' house when she was like. nine. and it's hardly a footnote. hardison is just casually an artistic prodigy but it's only ever brought up for the most background of background gags. eliot's biggest beef with parker and hardison for like two and a half seasons is that they won't stop making weird food with lasers and refuse to realize they can't make a decent beer to save their lives. sophie's immediate response to being shot is to call her shooter a wanker. there's a character who has literally killed a man with a mop and they had the audacity to only put her in one episode.

Eliot can talk all he wants about Sophie, Hardison, Parker, and Nate dragging him along as the rest of them become better people but at some point, Eliot made his own choices. He’s very much not the same person at the end of Redemption S2 as he was at the beginning of The Nigerian Job. That Eliot didn’t want to be part of a crew, that Eliot wouldn’t have tried and eventually succeeded at reconciling with his dad, that Eliot wouldn’t have befriended Floyd the security guard from The Work Study Job.
Redemption is in every choice we make. The choices that Eliot is making now show us how much he’s changed, how much he’s worked on being a better person now than he was. And if redemption is in every choice we make, I don’t think the others are fully redeemed either, because they still make choices every day that have so much impact. And Eliot is someone who’s hyper aware of the choices he’s made, and I think because of that, he has a blind spot. He knows he’s changed, but he can’t see how much, because he’s so aware of how razor thin the line is for him to go back to that dark place. That hyper awareness is also what feeds his guilt, we know he’s carrying a lot of guilt, and only recently has been able to chip away at it when he went back to apologize to his dad. There’s a lot of things he can’t seek forgiveness for, but the choices he’s made now do show us that he wouldn’t make the same choices again.
When Hardison was explaining the process of redemption to Harry, he used Eliot as his example for a reason. It’s not just that Eliot has done the most screwed-up stuff out of all of them, but that Eliot is conscious of the choices he’s made. For the others, making better choices might not have much of a thought process, but Eliot’s hyper awareness of his choices means he absolutely thinks things out as much as he can. He knows what happens when he makes a bad or wrong decision, so he has to hold himself to a higher standard. I don’t think that makes him irredeemable at all. If anything, that’s one of the things that’s helped him be better. Eliot just can’t see himself that way because he’s been carrying too much guilt for too long.

On rewatching the first episode of leverage after finishing the show the first time, there's a couple things that felt kinda out of character, but the one that really stood out to me was Hardison threatening Nate and Eliot with a gun. Like I feel like the Hardison I know would not have done that.

Blog 1!! Ghost Encounter 7-21-22
It started small, we teased it often. Only one week here, how bad could it possibly get? Besides, the other ones we had dealt with were sweet enough.
It got bad.
When I went here as a pre-teen and teenager, it was just as creepy, I only started remembering HOW creepy this week.
My mother started working at this church in 2016, I was 11 years old and could hardly be considered “in tune” with spiritual anything. God included despite being a Christian my entire life.
I quickly became involved in the youth group and was the youngest and most naive, these kids came from horrid backgrounds and hardships I could never understand, not for another few years at least.
When I agreed to do a children's vacation Bible School, I was 17 and had all but forgotten the things I had experienced at that place, the things I remembered while there for the first time in years make me want to go straight to heaven now. Goodbye to this demon possessed world.
As I said in the beginning, this started small. Small noises and balls moving, something me and my friend, Ellen, have experienced before and are quite comfortable with. She has someone (a guardian) living in her home and we’re perfectly used to the sweet thing. It was Thursday, the last night when things turned into a horror movie.
Ellen and I had decided to explore the old chapel while waiting for people to get there, I hadn’t been there alone in well over three or four years.
The first thing that hit us while unlocking the door was the unsettling feeling, however for myself who is terrified of the dark, and both of us struggling with anxiety, we were unconcerned and mostly ignored it. I remember seeing a shadow of a small child but brushing it off as it was evening, and the church was dark.
We glanced in the chapel and the children’s nursery before getting to the prayer room where we both froze.
Now might be a good time to mention that the day before we had tried to get in for something in the office and something kept relocking the door from the inside. We gave up and made do that night.
Instead of entering the prayer room, we hovered in the doorway, both overwhelmed by the sudden gut feeling to leave. We did so, locking the door behind us and going back to the event center.
We began setting up and talking to one of our friends on the phone when chairs in the classrooms started moving. The two of us locked eyes, I reached for her hand, and we bolted. Deciding we’d rather face the heat until everyone got there than meet the ghostbusters.
We called Benji and stayed on the phone with him until the cooks arrived, we went back in and the night went smoothly. Our Snow got there (Who is a medium) but she didn’t feel anything off until we had to go to the main chapel again when we had to return things we had borrowed at the beginning of the week.
The first sign was that the door practically opened itself, we should’ve left then but I decided it was just me being nervous and powered through. As I entered the foyer my eyes automatically went to the chapel room, where a shadowy figure was standing, watching and waiting. Snow and Ellen were talking about something and almost walked past me towards it when I spun around, tossing the stapler we were supposed to return and shoving them out the door, muttering prayers in tongues. I was able to lock the door easily enough and we ran.
“Hello? Help me!”
The child's voice made us freeze and look at the window. A small child was there for a moment, hands and face pressed against it. Snow made a move to go back in, intending on helping it escape when memories hit me like a brick, and I snapped at her to freeze. She did.
I remembered then, seeing various children, following them only to get locked in classrooms. I remembered messages written on chalkboards warning me to run and to get out. That it wasn’t safe, I remembered the boy hanging in the tree.
“Grace?”
I was shaking and Ellen grabbed my arm as I explained.
We never went back.
A couple days later, I was at the library behind the church. As I was leaving, I looked in my rearview mirror and saw the same little blond-haired, blue-eyed boy in civil war era clothes, the same boy who had been in the window the night before; his eyes seemed to pierce my soul and I have never pulled out of a parking lot so fast in my entire life.

I have decided that my least favorite time of day or anxiety/depression level is the one where you convince yourself that everyone hates you and then you realize you just need to drink water and take a nap 🤦‍♀️

Also because I'm on a roll tonight evidently. Santa theories.
I have many friends in different timezones, and over the Christmas season I realized that not only is it not physically possible to deliver gifts to seven continents in one night, it's also not possible with timezones for everyone to get it on the same Christmas day because one side is a day ahead of the other. If he does it in one day (as the adults tell the children) it's not on the traditional December 25th (and yes I know this is not the norm for everyone, 🐻 with me)
Anyhow, Santa has two days so for you Santa believers, you may relax because now he has a little more time.
Thanks for reading :P

In Encanto Delores has super hearing, right? So why didn't she hear Bruno in the walls?
What if Casita was protecting him with its magic? It's the only logical reason I can come up with because Delores can't keep a secret to save a life.
**Edit** I have been informed that I completely missed the part where Delores "admitted" to knowing he was there. Thanks for the correction!
