Hey, everyone! Sorry for our complete radio silence. Things have just been going on as I've started finding out more about the system. I've also been struggling with my sleep schedule and just working on improving my mental health with our lovely partner system @thecrystallizedlibrary

Over the time we've been away, I've changed my name. I am now Yami instead of Cryptid. I won't be editing previous posts, but I figured that I'd at least give this update

Advice on how to build up a sense of identity as an alter?

This is something we actually struggle with a bit ourselves, but one thing we've been told is just doing what we can to separate ourselves from each other. Creating separate playlists, making a new save in a game, stuff like that. It's also good to just take your time and explore everything at your own pace so you don't overwhelm yourself as you try to find out more about yourself. Finding your own sense of identity isn't a race and what helps may constantly change. Just keep experimenting and constantly doing things the way you are most comfortable with and hopefully that should help!

Of course, I'm definitely no expert in this regard, but I sincerely hope this advice does help sonewhat

Is it okay if most of the time alters are just passively influencing the host but not fully taking over front?

That tends to happen to us at times. Say for example that I'm the one fronting. I'll be doing my own thing and then suddenly get the urge to listen to or do something that I wouldn't normally go out of my way to do. I'll sometimes ignore it if I can't get sidetracked or I'll sometimes just give in and let them have their way to make everyone happy

What's it feel like being a system? And how does headspace work?

For us, it feels no different than everyday life for singlets (non-systems for those unaware). It's basically just a way for your brain to cope with trauma that you wouldn't be able to deal with normally, so it can be a bit disorienting at times when you were one person and then you suddenly switch to another mid-conversation and you have no idea who you are or you do something one day and then wake up the next day and whoever's in front has no recollection of those events. System milage will vary from person to person and every system has different alts for different purposes, so this is all just our personal experiences!

As for how headspace works, it's once again something that varies. Oftentimes, new sections will be formed depending on who forms and in our personal experience, there's at least one alt that holds the most power over everyone else that'll constantly add to and reshape the innerworld as often as needed to accommodate everyone. There's also usually a designated area for those needing/wanting to front and fictives usually end up having their own sections entirely depending on if they have a source. The innerworld and headspace as a whole can be confusing at times, but it's also just interesting to know that the design of it all varies from system to system
