AO3 Subscriptions

So, if you didn't know, ao3 has lots of subscription options. As long as you have an account and your email address is up to date, you can get various levels of notifications. You need to be a logged in user in order to subscribe.

Please note: don't use a school email address because when you leave that school, that address dies and you might lose access to your account. Yahoo and AOL emails also don't seem to work well these days, so I'd suggest a different free option than those ones.

Now to continue about subscriptions. You can subscribe in 3 different ways, depending on what notifications you want to receive.

1. Subscribe to a fic. Go to the fic and hit the subscribe button at the top of the page. You will now receive an email each time a new chapter is posted.

2. Subscribe to a series. Go to the series page by clicking on the name of the series at the top of the fic (it's a link, just like the fic title is). At the top of the series page, hit the button to subscribe. This will notify you by email any time a new work is added to a series. You will also get emails about new chapters to any stories in that series.

3. Subscribe to an author. Click on the author's name to go to their profile page and click the subscribe button at the top. Now you will receive an email notification every time that author posts a new work or adds a chapter to an existing work.

These emails will all contain links to take you directly to the story/chapter.

Fanfic Writer Friday

Alright fellow fanfic friends, it’s Friday, the best day of the week, and it’s about to get a lot more fun. Ya know why?

Never give up on your writing.

I don't mean you should never give up on a story. I just mean that you shouldn't look at giving up a story as letting yourself down. Or even letting your readers down.

We all run around a bit in the heady space of new ideas and some of those new ideas just... desert us eventually. This isn't a failing. It's just a fact of writing.

Sometimes writing will make you cry, and it's worth the effort to push through and see it to the end. But sometimes you just need to say goodbye to a piece that isn't working out rather than tell yourself the lie that you can fix it if you just try harder. It hurts to let go, but it can be the best thing for you.

Writing fanfiction is cool, until you realise you are writing the fanfiction that you wish you could read, meaning that you can't experience the pure joy of reading a fanfic you have been dying for.

Chanyeol grew up together with Baekhyun— his bestfriend, his partner in crime, his soulmate. They've been together since they were in middle school and despite being the taller one, Chanyeol would always be the one to get bullied by other kids while Baekhyun, being the sassy one, would be the one to protect him. They always have each other's back, and that's one of the reasons why Chanyeol began to fall for his bestfriend. Baekhyun, for him, is his light— his savior, his protector. That's how it has always been— at least up until they reach their last year in high school.

Baekhyun suddenly disappeared, without any trace, and Chanyeol was left hanging, confused and lost. He didn't even have any idea where Baekhyun has gone.

"Where are you now...?" he would always ask whenever he had a chance, more to himself. "I'll search the universe... just so I could find you."

A: "You're such an asshole. You're the worst. I hope you rot in hell." Seriously? Why do you just let those people say such words to you?

B: I don't know. Maybe it's because it's easier that way? Some people just like you because you're useful to them and once you run out of purpose, they'll treat you like shit. At least when people think you're already bad, they wouldn't bother staying close to you or they wouldn't bother you at all and you wouldn't get hurt anymore.
