It Used to be a Dream chapter two!!

“Good morning, terrifying fantasy world!”

Hunter groaned as he pulled his pillow over his head, attempting to muffle the sounds of his sister greeting the Demon Realm in excitement.

“Good morning!” The Demon Realm shouted back.

Luz screamed.

Maybe excitement wasn’t the right word.

Hunter hadn’t slept all night. The fact that he was back in the Boiling Isles (the fact that he didn’t make this world up) was still so unbelievable and fear-inducing that he wasn’t exactly able to think clearly. He was still baffled that Luz slept peacefully even though she was practically shaking with excitement when she laid down.

In all honesty, Hunter was already starting to loathe being in the Demon Realm, and he was starting to hate Luz’s eager footsteps as she ran off to explore the rest of the Owl Lady’s house.

Ugh, don’t even get him started on the Owl Lady.

Sure, living here was better than rotting in a Conformatorium cell, but that didn’t mean that he had to enjoy the fact that he was rooming with a criminal or two. Speaking of, one of them was still laying by his feet, to his displeasure.

Hunter heard another scream from Luz, and sighed.

It was going to be a long day.

So I have been BLAZING with writing the last few days and finally got the next chapter done-

This is for those who are struggling to process what they’re seeing in the world right now:

Hope. Is. Radical.

Those in power WANT us hopeless and defeated. They want us to believe nothing will ever change.

I get it, I do. Hell, I spent part of Valentine’s Day this year sobbing because of how horrible the world was getting and because I felt guilty that I got to shower my partners with love poems while so many others had lost the loves in their lives. I’ve spent more time crying in the past 6 months than I care to admit.

It’s so easy to give in to the despair. I know it is.

Feel those feelings, process, and release as best you can.

If you want humanity to be better, you have to believe that they can. That we can.

Remember in ATLA when Katara told Aang that he gave people hope?

Look at how much that changed their world. That sliver of hope grew and collectively guided them to justice and peace because people felt brave again. They finally had something to fight for.

Healing and new life requires hope.

Y’all will never catch me speaking ill of Katara, Korra, or Aang. Obviously they all have their flaws, but I’ll never hate on them!

I actually love them so much😭I know I talk a lot about Zuko but I love them too!

Katara is the compassionate yet steadfast and righteously angry eldest daughter rep we all need. She’s loyal and willing to help just about anyone, but she also takes no shit. She’s so smart and creative too!

Korra is determined and fierce, but underneath it all, she cares and she is still so fundamentally just learning how to be a person outside of her identity as the Avatar. Also, her PTSD struggles are so real and I will forever hold a very special place in my heart for her as someone who also has PTSD!

Aang was dealing with a grief that a lot of us couldn’t possibly begin to understand, yet he woke up each day and chose to be kind and to fight for the world around him. His optimism was an active choice he made, and his growth throughout the series was so good!

Hi! OP here and I just wanted to clear up a couple things super quick.

(Btw, thank you again to those in the replies who gently explained the tagging culture on here in more depth! I’m pretty new to Tumblr and it makes sense now! I appreciate y’all!)

So, to add on to this post:

I don’t think it’s an inherently bad thing that the tags exist! I apologize if I didn’t explain that well. It definitely is good for everyone to be able to curate their experiences and find their spaces through the tagging system!! Like I mentioned, blocking the anti tags is how I ended up doing that!

I also want to make it clear that being critical of certain aspects of the show or certain parts of the fandom is valid! I have my own critiques of both of these things!!

Another thing - fandom discourse is of course not automatically bad! I participate in it too sometimes! Not everyone is going to agree all the time and we all are going to have different perspectives and ideas!

The main point I had wanted to make with this post is that, before I blocked the tags, I had seen people say some…really interesting things when having discourse over these ships. I had seen people use the “anti-Zutara” tag to call Zutara shippers delusional. I had seen people use the “anti-Kataang” tag to essentially call Aang and anyone who likes him an ab*sive piece of shit. I had seen people threaten each other over this. That kind of stuff.

That’s the type of toxicity I had wanted to use this post to lightly touch on. It’s fandom - we should be having fun! Again, critique and analysis are all good and healthy and I enjoy those things too! But I do take issue with people getting hostile and being completely disrespectful to each other solely based on their (completely valid) ship or their favorite Gaang character. You can point out misinformation, a flaw in the writing, or a disagreement you have without doing that, y’know?? (I’m really not here to blast specific people btw - just to discuss a pattern I had seen!)

To me, as long as you aren’t being gross or harmful, we’re chill!!!!! And I think it’s important to remember that we’re all just humans who like the same media at the end of the day!

(Also, I think this is the last I’ll say about all of this for now before I go back to my fanfiction and fun character/plot analysis lmao. I’m not even personally invested in the Zutara vs. Kataang war since I enjoy them both, and honestly ATLA has way more to offer than just the romance and shipping!!! There’s the sociopolitical commentary, the found family, the individual characters, the world building, and so much more!!)

Multishipper here, and wtf is up with all of the discourse in the “anti Kataang” “anti Zutara” “anti Zukka” tags???

Guys, these are all valid ships😭I ship all three of them (tho Zukka is my favorite)! I know the Kataang vs. Zutara war is as old as time, but it just feels especially toxic on here - I ended up filtering out these anti tags (after getting a very kind reply about this, I definitely am glad that people use them so that it can be filtered lol). Anyway, it’s so easy to just live and let live and let people ship what they like!! There’s nothing inherently wrong with any of these three ships and they’re all very fun to think about!

In my opinion, as long as you aren’t attacking other people based on their ship and you’re respectful of all of the characters, we’re totally good!!!

Anyway that’s all lmao. Chill shippers unite!!

Let’s hold hands and be silly while walking down a hallway. Let’s snuggle on the couch and remind each other what warmth feels like.

Not super into physical touch? Totally cool. Let’s ramble to each other about our favorite pieces of media until we’re nearly falling asleep on video call at 1am. Let’s get ice cream and giggle over a funny movie until our stomachs ache from joy. Let’s drive around town and scream our favorite songs until the world feels a little lighter again. Let’s have a sleepover and drowsily make coffee together in the morning.
