Le’no’þïca.(LehNothica). A floating island created by the god of a fourth hidden moon, Ma’þe’ka’(rage), to re-home his children after suffering a betrayal by his sister A’mo’tïa’. Before this event, he was a god of wards known as I’se’la’ and his children lived on Ne’sla’na’ as E’nsve’tïane’v. Once his innocence turned to fury, he used all his might to rip a chunk from the earth, place it in the sky, and mold his followers to have wings and clawed feet to become more fierce and make it to and from Le’no’þïca’. After this transformation, I’se’la’ became Ma’þe’ka’ and his people became the I’sa’n(eclipse). Named this for a reason, every eclipse the people of Le’no’þïca’ become stronger and lose all sense of reality before going on killing sprees, mostly targeting Ne’sla’na’ and eventually spreading out to more areas. The only known way to stop this transformation, is to cut the I’sa’ns wings off.

Serin Moreno, orphan born of the floating island of Le’no’þïca. The only I’s’an welcomed into Wellhaven.

After his father was killed one eclipse night in the ice court of Ne’sla’na’, Serin lived with his mother and sister as a child and was ridiculed by other boys his age for his lack of strength and fear of hurting others. Most I’sa’n children revelled in the idea of finally transforming during the eclipse, Serin however only felt fear of the inevitable, for himself and what family he had left. The year before his first eclipse being of age, Serins mother and sister were slaughtered in front of him in his home by one of his childhood bullies. He had had enough, this was his final straw. Taking the axe that was lodged in his mothers skull, Serin hunted her and his sisters killer and his family before taking their lives as revenge. This gave him the reputation he needed for anyone on his island to take him seriously. He refused to be the scared boy he once was

One eclipse in his berserk state, years and years later after the final slaughter of the E’nsve’tïa’n people, Serin found himself wreaking havoc on towns across Wellhaven and wound up at the gates of the city n the final hour of his transformation. Once the eclipse ended and he returned to normal, he was swarmed by Wellhaven soldiers and dragged into the cells below the castle. Over the 60 years spent imprisoned, Serin spoke to every soldier stationed to guard his cell and over time became friends with some. Around year 57, king Augustus began visiting Serin, hearing his soldiers talk highly of a man whose killed dozens of his kingdoms people intrigued him. Over the next three years, Augustus would visit him every other day to bring him news and have conversation, and eventually offering a way for him to be free. If Serin worked for him and trained his soldiers for some years, he would be granted back his freedom under the condition that ever eclipse he would come back to Wellhaven to be chained and imprisoned until after he came back to normal. Accepting this offer, Serin lived in Wellhaven and fell in love with its people and culture. After being freed, Serin still came back at least once a year for the festival of the Well.

One year during one of these festival visits, he met a travelling mercenary named Ikalla. At first threatening to murder him for his kinds involvement of the genocide of her people, they soon became friends, and eventually lovers for the short time she was staying in Wellhaven. Occasionally, every couple years, Ikalla would come back to spend the festival with him. Until she stopped coming.

oh serin my BOY i love him so much,his later story is so tragic but its my fault for writing it. oh well!

“There’s something in you Ikalla, something more powerful than the flames of the sun.”

Ikalla looks over to her mentor, the woman whose trained all the children of the fire court for the last hundreds of years.

“You have to push harder, stop limiting yourself”

“i cant, i cant control it i know i cant what if i-“

“Ikalla. youre the last Vetara of your family. you cant let your fear of hurting others limit what you can do. Not when the lives of our people are at stake.”

Remembering the last eclipse, and how she watched a rogue I’sa’n rip her mother into shreds and tear the heart from her father, Ikalla filled with anger and guilt.

If she was stronger, could she have saved them? If she wasnt a child too scared to fight would her brother and sisters not be rotting in the courts tombs, faces frozen, screaming in their last moments.

“Who else will you let die in front of your eyes? How many more will die before you let go of your fear?”

“please.. i cant do it”

“You have to. Get off the ground and wipe your tears or the next to die very well might be your little girlfriend-“

The older woman rushes next to Ikalla and drags her off the grass by her arm

“Leave her out of this. She doesn’t-“

Ikallas face stings as she is struck across the face by an icey hand.

“What happens when you cant protect her Ikalla? Are you going to hide again and let her die?”

“Stop-“

Becoming blinded by rage and fear Ikalla feels her skin start to boil, immense heat radiating from her entire body. Gripping her scalp and pacing back and forth forth, flames begin to spark from her hands and feet

“When the Eclipse comes again how many deaths will be on your hands-“

“STOP”

“Who is next Ika!? You must be stronger than your enemies they will destroy EVERYTHING IKALLA”

A wailing scream followed by an explosion of flame and blood suddenly burst from Ikallas body. A flurry of hot reds and oranges and sparks of blue. Wind surrounding her in a fiery vortex, consuming her.

Fear

Fear overwhelmed her, and her fires blinded her.

“I can do this. I have to.”

fun fact this was my first drawing of any of the characters. my style has changed a bit but i think the story of the drawing is interesting so i wanted to share it

this panel is the first one with mostly dialogue and itll be between raine and his aunt valerie and this conversation is what starts the adventure :3

rough sketch of the main protagonist race, since theyre native to the deserts of Thrytocilia i wanted them to be based off of big desert animals! higher ranked warriors have longer manes while lower ranks have short manes.

i took some inspiration from the dothraki from the show game of thrones in how the tribes interact with each other and the world, theyre very viscous and prideful and get their manes cut off when they lose a battle or are deemed too weak to fight. the shorter the mane the less respect you are given throughout the tribes

Ikalla Vetara, the last known alive E’nsve’tïa’ne’v. Born of the fire court of Ne’sla’na’, and known as the islands strongest warrior.

Ending up on the shores of Ullendra over 100 years ago after escaping her island during the final slaughter of her people, Ikalla was found by a young boy whose father allowed her to stay and get well. Over the time she stayed with them she worked with them in their family owned library and eventually became part of their family. Ikalla stayed with them indefinitely until the young boy grew old and passed away. After his passing, Ikalla began taking up mercenary jobs that took her all over Thrytocilia, and between jobs would come back home to visit and make sure they were doing well, helping in the library and offering any aide she could through the town, even befriending local sirens and bringing them food to sway them from killing travellers to and from the city.

One year between jobs, a boy came to her library who she was never around previously to meet, though he was already known as a regular customer. He was only about 12, but he showed immense interest in his goal of reading every book they had in their library about magic, which surprised her knowing that not many people, if any, even use magic in this part of the world. The boy, whose name she learned was August, spent the next several years coming to the library once a week and spending the day with Ika while they talked for hours about magic, history, and each others lives. He became like a little brother to her, even though he already had an older brother of his own.

im not gonna lie Ika is my favourite, she was the first character to be fully drawn and coloured and shes not even the MAIN mc

she has so much more history and lore but a lot of it is SPOILERSS. so sorry 🙏
