It is with profound disappointment that we report the industry CEOs have walked away from the bargaining table after refusing to counter our latest offer. (1/11)

We have negotiated with them in good faith, despite the fact that last week they presented an offer that was, shockingly, worth less than they proposed before the strike began.

These companies refuse to protect performers from being replaced by AI, they refuse to increase your wages to keep up with inflation, and they refuse to share a tiny portion of the immense revenue YOUR work generates for them.

We have made big, meaningful counters on our end, including completely transforming our revenue share proposal, which would cost the companies less than 57¢ per subscriber each year. They have rejected our proposals and refused to counter.

Instead they use bully tactics. Just tonight, they intentionally misrepresented to the press the cost of the above proposal – overstating it by 60%.

They have done the same with A.I., claiming to protect performer consent, but continuing to demand “consent” on the first day of employment for use of a performer’s digital replica for an entire cinematic universe (or any franchise project).

The companies are using the same failed strategy they tried to inflict on the WGA – putting out misleading information in an attempt to fool our members into abandoning our solidarity and putting pressure on our negotiators.

But, just like the writers, our members are smarter than that and will not be fooled.

We feel the pain these companies have inflicted on our members, our strike captains, IATSE, Teamsters and Basic Crafts union members, and everyone in this industry. We have sacrificed too much to capitulate to their stonewalling and greed.

We stand united and ready to negotiate today, tomorrow, and every day.

Our resolve is unwavering. Join us on picket lines and at solidarity events around the country and let your voices be heard.

One day longer. One day stronger. As long as it takes.

As a white female, I don’t disagree. White people do not experience racism as others do.

What I have experienced, I feel, is a cross of racism and sexism. I went to elementary, middle, and high schools that were 1/4 Asian, 1/4 Black, 1/4 Hispanic, and 1/4 White. I never felt like a majority, and I grew up with that. I never looked at anyone differently until I had teachers that looked at who I sat with, which were honestly mostly guys and a mix of races because that’s what I was used to, and suggested I move to an empty seat near several other white kids.

I said “No, I’m okay.”

My teacher still made me move.

2 years later when my theater class along with a couple of the cultural clubs at the school were asked to do skits on uncomfortable situations in classes... I definitely offered that situation.

All in all, it sucks. I don’t understand why we can’t just see each other as people who can enrich our lives, people equal to us. I really don’t because even after someone pointed out the skin difference to me as a kid (adolescent, and adult), I never saw what mattered. I never will because even when I lived in area where I was the minority, I was never viewed as the “minority.”

I know im at a risk of having this response ridiculed, because, no I don’t know what real racism is like (though, what I mentioned above is only one of similar experiences I’ve had), I feel like at the very least I can sympathisize and I try in every way that I can to combat that in my life. It breaks my heart a little everyday to see all the hate and pregiducie; and, when I can do more, I will do more.

Racism has two types tho. Personal and Systemic. White people Don't experience systemic racism, but there are some who experience personal. Or does growing up in a neighborhood where being white was taboo, and the only reason you were able to live past 3 years old was because your Hispanic grandpa was respected by the local gangs not count as Racism?

While that sounds like a terribly unfortunate situation to be in…”personal” racism is literally just another example of prejudice as I’ve mentioned so many gotdamn times before. Furthermore, see literally every single time I’ve pointed out that language evolves. (Hint: it’s the race theorists who know more about this than either of us).

I’d consider your example “racism” if, I don’t know, the United States government went out of their way to create white ghettos like they did black ones.

I’d consider your example if the US government criminalised white people openly carrying weapons to protect themselves from the police like they did black people.

I’d consider your example if people blamed “white on white crime” for gangs, ghettos, and white poverty like they do “black on black crime”.

I’d consider your example if black southerners “took out their anger” on white ones by frequently terrorising and murdering them and then NO ONE DID FUCKING ANYTHING ABOUT IT like whites did to black people.

I’d consider your example if whites were 3.73 times more likely to be arrested for possession of marijuana than black people.

In essence: no.

Linguistically, you’re wrong.

Historically, you’re wrong.

And presently: you’re wrong.
