New York City: October 2012 vs. January 2018 (605 days on T, 148 days post-op) ______________ Went to NYC for @springsteen On Broadway last week and had an enormous amount of fun, got a tattoo from the amazing @bangbangnyc and walked everywhere (more or less). Last time I was there it was back in 2012 and my life was completely different: I was still living in Italy (although in the process of moving to the UK), never had a proper job or a place to myself, had never even been to a pride or a gay club, identified as a gay woman. Five years later, I’ve achieved all of these little goals that I didn’t even know to have, fought my fears about living alone again after battling with self harming and depression and won, and learned what love means. Food policy: old job vs. new job. ——— One of the (many) reasons why I left my old job is the stupid and increasingly worrying austerity that the company has been treating its employees with. I’m not gonna go into details because I could write an essay about it, suffice to say the moment this notice went up, I started looking for a new job (sorry, can’t stand this kind of bullying). As you can see, the company I work for now has got a much better attitude towards its employees. Not only you can have whatever you want, if you don’t get food on your own they actively offer it to you. Nothing is off limits and you can even have dessert if you want! So I was supposed to start my new job today but they told me I wasn’t “appropriately dressed” because I didn’t have proper suit pants so I went for shopping instead 🤷🏼‍♂️ Incidentally I ended up to the LEGO Store and finally managed to see Thor: Ragnarok so it worked out to be a good day ✌🏼 Bonus: my university finally judged me worth of studying some more and sent me the enrolment email today. Not all trans people are skinny and that’s okay too. Also, you don’t have to be skinny to have an eating disorder. I’ve got one and it’s very problematic and I hate myself also because of it, but for the longest time I thought I couldn’t possibly have one as I was never skinny or even slim. It is not my fault if this is how my body is built. I’ve been struggling with my EDNOS again recently so I thought I’d make a post about it. Climbing: 2015 (pre-T) vs. 2017 (511 days on T, 54 days post-op). ____________ F**k you if you can't see how *happy* I look even when I'm sad and down as hell and how *sad* I looked even when I was happy and more or less together with part of my life. I'm struggling a lot atm because of how messy and all over the place things are in my life rn. But seeing comparisons like this makes me feel instantly better. Because for 26 years showing up outside was a daily struggle on the account of how mismatched my appearance and my identity were. But now I'm free, and getting freer each and every day.
