hey hi

ik im an *extremely* new blog but from my time in the community (just lurking in the shadows /silly) i’ve seen a lot about how the mogai community can be inaccessible for many

i would love to make sure that absolutely anyone and everyone can access my posts and not have to go through extreme hurdles to do so /gen

i dont use a screenreader, nor do i have close contact with anyone who does (that i know of). ive seen posts about colored texts and fonts that can “break” screenreaders. i may not fully understand how a screenreader works, or why it cant handle these things, but i do understand that in those situations its a simple step to make your post accessible.

i have an issue with my eyes and how they dilate which leads to bouts of extreme light sensitivity. even on my average days it can be extremely uncomfortable (and sometimes trigger a migraine) for me to see extremely bright colors (possible tmi?). i try to avoid the eyestrain tag when i dont think i can handle it. however there are still posts with brightly colored fonts (or images) that are untagged that impact my ability to access the post unless im on my bestest of days.

however, i dont fully understand anything past these two situations and want to make sure im not leaving anyone out when making sure every aspect of me and my blog are accessible.

please (gently) let me know things that i should be aware of/avoid doing (or even what i actively should be doing) as i enter the world of mogai blogging

hello! sorry it took so long! here are the names, links, and reasoning for them :0

scenecoric - most/all colors are full saturation and clash with eachother, like they're fighting for your eyes' attention

Sceformournic - ditto, but with less clash between the hues themselves.

nonhuman - the gray in the middle is the same value as the blue below it, so they clash :(

offine - ditto, but with the blurple/lavender and the top green

lillieobjehead - the constant change between grayscale and pink makes it look clashy

genderstellic - ditto but with blue instead of pink

Fumirimmortalic - looks like an optical illusion, which often also cause eyestrain. ALSO! please tag for trypophobia (I know you shouldnt tag *as* the phobia but idk what else you could tag that signals it might trigger people with trypophobia)

catdeifidemor - the pink and blue are near full saturation, and it's amplified by the gray on the top and bottom

Hi, could you check my posts and like mark or something the posts that have ayestrain-y flags? I can't figure out what is eyestrain or not for shit so yeah ;w; halp pls -@yawneko

of course!!

here are a few I found that needs an eyestrain tag + reasons so it helps you spot them easier :D

geometricoveric - colors are too high in saturation and close in contrast

catdeifidemor - the pink has the exact same tone value as the gray, which makes them clash (you can find this via putting another layer over it, painting it completely black and setting the layer blending mode to color) . the pink and blue are also too bright

labcoric - the colors are too high in saturation and this time theres too much contrast

boycattic - the black and white next to eachother create too much contrast, and this could be due to my screen (it exaggerates blue tones) but the blue seems a little too bright

boygirldox - the colors are too high in saturation, especially the yellow

catboything + catgirlthing - theres too little difference in tone value again, specifically with the gray and purple

girlcattix - no idea why but greens always seem extra bright (could be my screen again), plus theres too little difference in value between the yellow and green

thats all I could find!! keep in mind I personally dont struggle from eyestrainy images and am just applying objective knowledge from color theory onto them, different things can be eyestrainy for different people and you gotta respect them and their wishes. hope this was helpful <:0

do you know of any other blogs like this? stuff like image descriptions especially are pretty hard for us so i was wondering if you knew of anything that could help out there

as for requesting plain text, how do you go about that? is it a per post basis, is it someone asks and you just do it until they ask you to stop if ever? i think it'd be cool if you could do that for our posts on our various blogs if you're willing! no obligation to of course, i can add it to the original post when i see it as well :> it might be a bit much but if you're willing to then im happy for you to do so :D i thought i'd ask like this as you don't really specify how requests work and figured this would do the trick lol
