Hello Rosa, I really like your tumblr’s vibe ✨ Could you please explain the process of shooting on 35 mm film ? Is it just the “old-fashioned” way of taking photos or do you have some specific camera for that ? Those photos have such a different atmosphere !! Thanks in advance :)

Hi! Yes so you have to get a film camera, which you can get at a secondhand hand or any camera shop. The easiest thing to start with is a point-and-shoot instead of an SLR which is a bit more sophisticated.

Then you buy yourself a roll of film, the first one will definitely be a test roll to understand your camera and how much light it needs, when you need to rely on flash, etc. prob start with a roll of 400 which is kind of the best one for transitioning from indoors/outdoors.

Then, once your roll is finished, you take it out (PLS watch some YouTube videos of your camera model before trying this alone, you don’t want to accidentally expose your film to light, your photos WILL BE ruined), and then you take the finished roll to a film shop in your area, and they’ll spend a few days developing it and send you .jpegs usually. Hi Rosa! Why did you decide to buy a house? Especially in this economy? If I remember correctly, you considered even moving from Canada. Not to be aggresive follower or something, I’m just curious. Feel free to not respond if you don’t feel like it.

Hi!! Honestly we were so sick of condo living, and the cost of renting versus buying a house (as in rent vs monthly mortgage payment) wasn’t too dissimilar (although way more costs associated with home ownership, that’s for SURE).

I’ve been saving for a house since I’ve been working, whether or not it was the right thing to do 🤷🏻‍♀️ but I don’t think there’s ever going to be a right time, and both my partner and I didn’t want to wait anymore.

We did decide to settle in Toronto because of my parents / our future family plans, and then the house we went for was a “steal” 500k below the average house on the street (IE, we bought the worst house on the best street). I think it’s much different when you’re approaching your house as a place to live for a long time rather than like a property flip or an investment or “to get in the market.” Because our plan is just to weather the economic storm in our little house.

How do you make Toronto look so beautiful? I just moved here, but your pictures make it look so good!

You just have to look closely at life in general I think, to see the beauty where, from a cursory glance, perhaps there doesn’t seem to be any.

Toronto is that kind of city, a little crusty on the surface, but then so, so glorious when you start really looking at it.

Hey! Do you have any favorite perfumes?

Hi! I don’t wear perfume because my skin is super sensitive to alcohol + fragrance chemicals. Sometimes I use oil perfumes but they’re kind of hard to find and tbh the scent doesn’t last very long. And without the alcohol they do go bad quickly. So if someone has any scent recommendations for ME I’d love that lol!
