at age 13 i can confidently say i was not very socially aware. my friends and i were on a field trip and i found a really fat worm, so I picked it up and showed it to them. of course they freaked out and called it gross, so i put it back under a rock and got really disheartened. i remember not talking for the rest of that day i was so embarrassed. now, i've subjected those same friends to a lot of parts of me that they don't love or agree with, but they've stopped making fun of me for it. one day i'll pick up a worm and show it to them and they will call it cute, but that day hasn't happened just yet! i guess i learned: fuck it, be yourself, they'll just have to get used to it.

VERY LONG rant about maybe having autism, feel free to scroll past!!!

HI THANKS FOR STOPPING TO LISTEN FIRST OF ALL!! very kind of you!! anyway heres the rant:

i keep hearing people talk about ways they've noticed autistic traits in themselves, and it's so strange to see a reflection of myself in their words.

"i have a strong moral code," "I hate lying," "ppl thought i was mature at a very young age," "certain substances and feelings gross me out," "i'm super sensitive in two of my five senses," etc.

but then whenever i say "hey, what if i'm autistic?" my mother (a very open-minded and mental health conscious person), says "oh no way, your BROTHER is autistic and THAT'S what autism looks like!! you wouldn't know!!"

and like, consider the fact that my brother fights with my parents like every moment of every day. always has. used to be temper tantrums, now its just yelling and fighting and genuinely mean jabs and calling me 'bitch' when i try to go to my room and put headphnoes on.

now also consider the fact that we know i've always been a people-pleaser, because i had to be the easy, good child, to counter my brother. if i ever fought with my parents, i'd get in 10000x more trouble because i'm "supposed to be the good one." ok. cool.

so is it possible that i've also been masking my whole life? just to make my parents' lives easier?

which is especially likely since i have problems with guilt since they've guilt tripped me for years whenever i did anything wrong?

anyway. hey mom and dad. stfu pls <3

TL;DR: my parents don't believe im autistic bc ive been masking my whole life to counteract my horrible brother so now i can't get the help i need!
