Before Whumper, Whumpee cried all the time, during sad movies, while trying to argue, talking about their feelings, ect. They hated it. At least now their tears are always silent.

So my best friend is a RL Whumpee and I am for once getting exhausted and irritated Caretakers.

Consider

A whumpee who was taught to keep quiet and not make a fuss no matter what. When they get kidnapped by whumper, they instinctively try to muffle their sobs, they never scream for help, and they deal with everything as quietly as possible.

It’s common to see whumpers that enjoy making their whumpee sad/angry/afraid. That’s pretty natural for whumpers.

But what about a whumper that (also) enjoys making their whumpee happy?

Whumper loves how Whumpee’s eyes light up when they’re given a plate of their favorite food (after being starved for days)

Whumper loves watching Whumpee sing along to their favorite songs playing from the radio Whumper bought them (to help them cope with long periods of isolation)

Whumper loves the peaceful look on Whumpee’s face as they enjoy a good book Whumper gave them (and could take away at any time)

Whumper loves how soft Whumpee’s hair and skin look after a warm shower (the first in weeks)

Whumper loves how Whumpee slowly dances around their cell to the tune of a music box (it was a gift for not struggling despite the pain)

Whumper loves the sigh of relief from Whumpee as Whumper applies the burn cream (to the wounds Whumper made with a red hot poker)

Whumper loves pulling Whumpee close to them, curled up on the couch as they watch Whumpee’s favorite film (they notice Whumpee shivering slightly in their hold)

Whumpril Day 5: Neglect

Warnings: captivity, physical and emotional neglect

Nobody came to check on Whumpee. They weren't sure how much time passed, with food and water slid into the room and nothing else. Days? Weeks? The room was bare, only cold concrete and a sink and toilet. Whumpee slept curled in a corner, shivering and nauseous, swinging between freezing and boiling. Their wounds got hot and itchy; rinsing them in the sink wasn't enough to stave off infection. They were alone, and no one was coming.

Until someone did. Whumper was the first person Whumpee had seen in what felt like forever. And they were so gentle. They cleaned Whumpee's wounds and gave them antibiotics and wrapped them in a blanket and murmured, "Don't worry, I'll take care of you." The sound of another human's voice brought tears to Whumpee's eyes, and Whumper wiped them away.

So even when Whumper wasn't so kind, Whumpee was grateful, because it was so much better than being alone.

whumpee with dissociation, derealization, and/or depersonalization

whumpee that develops disassociation and dp/dr as a coping mechanism to deal with what they are put through

whumper gives them drugs that make them hallucinate or worsen their symptoms (on purpose or by accident - even weed can trigger pretty bad derealization for me)

dialogue prompts for a whumper that gets frustrated with whumpee not responding:

inexperienced whumper that doesn't understand what's happening:

or a whumper that knows exactly what's going on:

*Deep sigh* *dumps bucket of ice water on whumpee*

"Nope, you're not getting away that easy. If you're not present in 10 seconds I'm turning up the voltage till you really can't think straight."

other things

truly destroys any sense of time and combined with vivid dreams and memory loss just no idea what actually happened to you. being unable to trust your brain is terrifying and makes it all the easier for someone to manipulate what you believe.

dr/dp can also trigger or be triggered by a panic attack which can have a variety of physical symptoms

whumpee in their cell or room just curling up as small as possible, rocking back and forth, pulling at their hair or picking at scabbed wounds, gasping because it feels like they can't breathe,

or if they are just disassociating their eyes are glazed over, focusing on nothing in particular, refusing to make eye contact, maybe doing very small repetitive self-soothing behaviors.

I think there's real potential in interspecies/monster whump with cultural differences in intimacy, and knowing and not caring or thinking it's funny or caretaker not knowing...

Like a human whumpee feeling so very bad and invaded about a vampire whumper biting their neck, where a partner might kiss. But to whumper, they're just getting a normal meal.

Maybe in mer culture, singing together is only for super serious couples. So whumper making them sing with them, or caretaker unknowingly trying to pull them into karaoke. Nothing could be more humiliating...

A whumpee with wings having to sit there and do nothing as whumper comes and cleans their wings. No. Wing cleaning is only for close family, or a partner... but whumper loves it. It's an intimate show of power that requires no vulnerability on their part.

(Non con kissing) or a monster whumpee not understanding what exactly kissing means, and a whumper who wants kisses all the time. It's incredibly uncomfortable for them, even if they dont understand what's going on, or why whumper likes it so much, but knowing there's something they don't know.

Whumper keeping a selkie's coat, picking up and meaninglessly touching a fairy/borrow whumpeepicking flowers from a dryad's hair... even reading a mage's spell book or using their wand, or using a fighter's prized weapon...

Theres so much to do with it, and it's SO FUN! Just leaving whumpee in the dark about what's going on or being made to feel like they're making a big deal over nothing when it IS a big deal to them.
