Something about hands and autonomy and being shackled to each other and how Kris doesn't need us to move around but they still return us to their body every time and how our ability to do stuff outside of Kris' body as a SOUL without hands is limited and the difference between 'Kris' and 'You' and maybe we're the one who will lose our hands in the form of Kris????
Idk, I have a million thoughts that I don't know how to put into words.

Why do Monsters in Undertale and Deltarune use Words like 'Hell' and 'God' in their Everyday Language?
Additionally, a Theory on the Time Period During Which Monsters were Trapped Underground
OKAY SO hi Pup here with more UTDR insanity on a topic that I do not have the historical knowledge to be properly qualified to talk about, but am going to talk about anyway because it's been lingering in my head for a long time.
The monsters in Undertale and Deltarune use terms like 'hell', 'god', 'damn', etc., implying that they have enough of a concept of hell, god, damnation, etc. ingrained into their society for it to be used in casual speech. But that stuff comes from human religions. It fits easily into our understanding of language, given that those are the terms we commonly use, but monsters don't follow human religions as far as we see, and the widespread use of those terms comes from the influence that Abrahamic religions have had on our society. We don't see any established monster religions at all in Undertale, and in Deltarune there's obviously the Angel.
The Doylist reason for monsters using those terms despite the lack of human Abrahamic religions in their society is obviously just that Toby Fox is a human living in our world who is used to using those terms and likely didn't think twice about including them in his game. However, that reason is not nearly as fun as going insane over minor details in video games. Thus, this lengthy post.
In Deltarune, the religion we see in Hometown is the one that worships the Angel. We don't know how prevalent this religion is in the wider world, nor how many people in Hometown actually worship it, but it's a commonplace enough belief that the town has a church in it that seems to have been around for a decent amount of time.
While it's highly possible that the worlds of Undertale and Deltarune are entirely different from ours, I am going to be operating on the assumption that they both take place in worlds that are pretty much the same as ours, with only minor differences aside from the existence of monsters, which I'd say counts as a pretty major difference.
Now, as the Angel religion doesn't have a concept of sin, we can assume that there's no concept of punishment for sin either, and therefore no hell. However, through Alvin's wording of "our religion", combined with Asriel confessing to his 'sins' despite the lack of sin or confession in said religion, we can infer that there are indeed other religions in the world of Deltarune, and at least one relatively prevalent other religion contains the concepts of sin and confession. (Susie and Lancer both actually directly mention Christmas at one point, which means that Christianity exists in Deltarune, alongside the religions and practices that are the origins of many Christmas traditions.)
Assuming that monsters were never trapped underground in Deltarune, they were likely living alongside humans that whole time, and it's therefore quite likely that they would have picked up popular phrases that reference human religions. In fact, it's likely that monsters themselves followed the beliefs of Christianity, Catholicism, or the like at some point, given those religions' prevalence. (It's also possible that this influence is part of why monsters in Deltarune don't seem to use magic like their counterparts in Undertale do, given Christianity's whole thing about magic and stuff.) Monsters, like humans, probably don't all follow the same religion (Monster Teen, for example, wears a necklace with a cross pendant. While this choice could simply be aesthetic, it's equally likely that they're Christian, Catholic, etc.). And, given the whole Angel thing, it's possible that Hometown's predominant religion is an offshoot of a pre-existing Abrahamic religion.
In Deltarune, it is not at all out of the question and in fact makes complete sense for monsters to be referencing things like god or hell.
In Undertale, monsters have been stuck underground for an unknown but very long period of time, to the point where most of the adult population has never even seen the surface. (I am NOT going to be theorising about how monsters age, because I have already been down that rabbit hole multiple times and have nothing to show for it except confusion.)
My current theory is that they were trapped sometime during the 11th, 12th, or 13th centuries, most likely the 12th. If we look at the architecture of the Ruins, the first place that was settled by monsters:
Tumblr media
It's quite similar to Romanesque architecture, which lasted from the 10th century to the 13th and was predominant in the 11th and 12th centuries.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
This style is mostly reflected in New Home
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Except for in the Last Corridor
Tumblr media
Where the pointed arches are reminiscent of Gothic architecture, which was active from the late 12th to 16th centuries.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
While we know that monsters receive human garbage via the dump in Waterfall, I'm going to assume that nobody would be throwing out schematics for their Gothic windows. Therefore, considering the timeframes of both these architectural movements, monsters were likely trapped underground in either the late 12th or the 13th century, with my money being on the late 12th given the prevalence of Romanesque architecture as opposed to the much rarer cases of Gothic architecture that we see (acknowledging, of course, that we do not see all of the Underground, and that I am only working off the knowledge I have here).
More potential proof for this time periods comes from the intro, where we see the silhouettes of several humans.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
There are no guns or other firearms shown, meaning that the War of Humans and Monsters occurred in a time when spears and swords were used in wars instead of guns. While I couldn't find a spearhead that matched the one depicted, there is a human shown holding a sword, which we get to see at two angles.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I originally assumed from the first image that it was a leaf-shaped blade, but looking at both the first and second images, I theorise that this is depicting a knightly sword, also known as an arming sword, used as a one-handed sword, usually alongside a shield, in the high middle ages (1000 - 1300 CE).
Tumblr media
While still used in the late middle ages (1300 - 1500 CE), longswords were more common as a primary weapon, and arming swords were often employed as a sidearm in addition to a primary weapon. While the sword depicted in the image is too short to be a longsword, it seems to match the length of an arming sword fairly well, and we can see that its wielder is using it as a one-handed weapon, rather than the longsword's intended two-handed grip.
Now, I'd say it's likely that most or all monsters only lived around one area, since it would have been a bit difficult for the humans to trap every single living monster underground if they'd been spread all over the world. If monsters only existed around one area in the high middle ages, they could have been fought against in the war and trapped underground much more plausibly, and they could have been easily dismissed as myth in later millennia.
The prevalent religion during the Middle Ages was Christianity, and we know that there were some pretty strong opinions about things like magic and other belief systems. It's stated in the game that the war started because humans were scared of the monsters' power to absorb human SOULs, and while that was probably part of it, it's not hard to see how the humans of that time could have turned on the monsters out of fear of their magic, or even just not being human, in addition to the stated provocation of monsters being able to absorb human SOULs. We also have to remember that we only get information about what happened from the monsters' perspectives, written on stone plaques, thousands of years after the fact. We don't have the full story here, and I suspect that the conflict was already brewing, and that the monsters' recorded reason for the war was simply the thing that tipped it over the edge.
Anyway, if monsters were living amongst or near humans during the Middle Ages, they were probably following or at least had a lot of exposure to the prevalent religion and its effects on commonly-used language. (It's also possible that the symbol of the Delta Rune and the prophecy about the Angel who has seen the surface is a remnant of the Angel belief system we see in Deltarune.) Their use of language could have evolved in a similar way to ours over the centuries, words like 'hell' and 'god' becoming more detached from their religious connotations when used in everyday expressions, and, with the added influence of human media that began falling into the garbage dump in Waterfall, their use of those words, as well as language in general, became remarkably similar to our own, despite them having been trapped underground for all that time.
And... yeah. That's it. That's the theory. If someone who actually knows about this sort of stuff happens to come across this post, please feel free to add your expertise. I'm going off internet research here, I'm not qualified to be talking about this.

Okay, this is half a crack theory, but hear me out.
I think that the Thrash Machine is foreshadowing for the vessel.
Let's look at the things they have in common.
We were told to make them by someone else
We put them together from options provided to us by that someone else
They were supposed to be significant to the scenes directly afterwards (the vessel as the character we play as, the Thrash Machine as an enemy)
They were unexpectedly discarded in the scene directly after we complete them
Despite being discarded immediately, our choices were recorded by the game
They have a lot of stuff in common, and the Thrash machine comes back in chapter 2 as an enemy despite having been exploded in the chapter before.
I've thought for a while now that the vessel is probably going to return in some way, shape, or form, and this theory has only cemented my belief.

Our choices don't matter in Deltarune
Except they do.
Maybe they don't change the narrative. Maybe we'll continue like the beads in the hospital, marching along our set plotlines. Maybe there will only be one ending, and maybe the Weird Route is the only way to truly break free of the course set out for us by the game.
But even without the Weird Route, it's our choices that decide how many Darkners get to find a new home and how many are lost. We choose whether or not Berdly's arm is hurt. Whether we support or dismiss the characters we're going through this with. Deltarune goes out of its way to emphasise that our choices don't matter, except our choices still change things for the better or worse. They might not be the game-changing differences that Undertale has, but we can still choose to make things better for the characters, even just a little.
Um. Yeah. Just something I was thinking about while watching some Deltarune analysis videos.

UTDR Holiday Newsletter Musings
Tumblr media
Heya, Pup here, and I'm back again to talk about how Toby Fox has once more driven me insane.
Usually the newsletters have a black background and white text, but the background is white this time! Thematically appropriate, I suppose.
Tumblr media
*glances outside at the warm summer morning*
Or, well, it's thematically appropriate if you don't live in the southern hemisphere lol.
Tumblr media
Toby has a Bluesky account now, apparently.
Tumblr media
...Yep, that belongs to Toby, alright.
And he even made an archive of the roast chicken posts "in case Blueski flies away". Excellent, those are exceedingly important, we wouldn't want them to be lost.
(Skipping over the stuff about the GameMaker updates and bugs because while it's interesting it's not what I'm here to talk about.)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
*(...) *(...Pup slowly puts down the microwave they were holding and steps away.) *(All the settings on the microwave say 'spaghetti' anyway. It's unsure if that would work on frozen dogs.)
But in all seriousness, the reviews Toby shared seem pretty solid, and we are definitely, 100000000000% getting chapters 3 and 4 in 2025. I am incredibly excited and can't wait to see what the new chapters have in store.
(I wonder when they'll come out...? Place your bets, everyone! My money's on Undertale's 10th anniversary, since Toby has a habit of releasing and announcing important stuff on or around the anniversaries.)
We also have some text from chapter 4 that has been translated into Japanese. I cannot read Japanese, so unfortunately I don't have anything to say on that part, but I do have some things to say about some of the bits I can read!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
"Inferno,&Inferno!" We don't have any context on who's saying this or what it might be about. My first thought is Dante's Inferno, given how much religious symbolism is in these games, but I'm probably wrong lol.
Lancer: "Susie, can you enrich my enclosure?" Susie: "Uhh, I can punch a hole in drywall and hide toys inside." Lancer: "Thank you. Someday, I will do the same for you..." This COULD just be about Lancer's room. Or it could imply that Lancer gets trapped somehow? Idk.
"To by, or not to by?" I don't have much to say here. But it's a Shakespeare reference, so I'm legally obligated to point that out.
Berdly: "Listen. It disgusts me to say this, but... as an ACT. OF. CHARITY. I will let you... Be the breeze under my wings. You... Me. Festival." My guess is that he's saying this to Susie. If so, Noelle is going to FLIP and I can't wait to see it lol. I'm very curious about this festival, too... I feel like something big's going to happen.
...wait.
WAIT.
Jevil's fight was in a carousel. Spamton's was on a rollercoaster.
...am I overthinking this, or are the secret bosses somehow foreshadowing the festival???????
Elnina: "Did it hurt when you fell? Your tag says you're... um, the moon." If I remember correctly, Elnina is one of the weather forecast themed enemies. Since this is chapter 4 dialogue, my guess is that this text is from Castle Town after you recruit them.
Tumblr media
Chapter 5 is in development! Yay!
Tumblr media
I was going to make a post about some of the new merch before the newsletter came out. Now I guess I'll just include my thoughts on it in this post.
SO. We have a Kris shirt.
Following the trend of the Frisk merch, Kris isn't named. All Frisk's merch refers to them as 'the human', and now Kris' shirt is the 'Important Person's Shirt'.
Here's all the text I've found describing it, from both the newsletter and Fangamer.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Listen. I am going insane over this. I have far too many thoughts and I don't know how to put any of them into words. BUT I'M GONNA TRY.
Okay. So.
Firstly, the love thing.
We already know that LOVE = Level of ViolencE. But while that adds an interesting layer, it's not primarily what I'm going to be discussing here.
Kris and the player have a connection, obviously. Their love will become yours - the love they receive from their mum, their dad, their friends, isn't meant for us. Yet it feels like it's directed at us, because we are Kris. Your love will become theirs - we decide their actions. If we express love for another character, we're expressing it through them, which means that the other characters are seeing it as their love instead. Us and Kris are separate entities, and yet we have an undeniable connection that makes us difficult to separate.
Also, I'm not entirely sure how this relates, but my first thought when I read this was about the default options for the vessel. The game records your choices in the vessel creation sequence. However, if you start a chapter 2 save file without continuing from chapter 1, the choices are automatically set to the first option of each question, except for the gift, which defaults to Mind. It also has default options for all the choices in the game, which all seem to follow what we know of Kris' characterisation. Essentially, if we haven't played chapter 1, Kris seems to play through it for us. In the vessel creation sequence, the question 'HOW DO YOU FEEL ABOUT YOUR CREATION? (IT WILL NOT HEAR.)' has 'LOVE' as the first option. I don't know how this might relate and it might be entirely unrelated but in my head I feel like some dots have been connected and it's driving me crazy. TOBY FOX YOU'RE GOING TO BE THE DEATH OF ME.
(Please picture me with one of those conspiracy theory boards with the red string and pictures and scribbled notes. That's the most accurate depiction of me right now.)
The mask thing seems important too, but I can't think of what it might be referring to. Maybe something to do with how the actions you choose for Kris aren't how they're really feeling?
There's also a Seam plush, which I wasn't originally going to talk about, but then the newsletter happened.
Tumblr media
Firstly, look at it. Look at this battered old wizard cat. I want it.
Secondly, we get a sort-of-canon Seam design! So that's cool.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
...dusty magic. Broken dreams. No tail, torn off by cruel and loving hands. The tail in your mind should be stronger than anything I show you.
THERE IS SOMETHING HERE RELATED TO THE DARK WORLDS AND DREAMS AND IMAGINATION AND I DON'T KNOW WHAT TO SAY ABOUT IT BUT IT'S THERE.
If they keep releasing merch, my entire house is going to be UTDR themed. I can feel my wallet getting lighter and lighter each time they release something new, and I haven't even bought any merch yet.
And finally, if you click on this antlered snowman at the bottom...
Tumblr media
You get a message...
Tumblr media
DESS LORE DESS LORE DESS LORE
She called Noelle 'Elly' I'm gonna cry -
More angel Noelle... and "I wish it could snow whenever I wanted"... kind of ominous given the Snowgrave route and the whole Angel's Heaven thing.
AAAA I'M SO EXCITED TO SEE WHERE THIS GOES IN THE GAME
I actually missed the snowman link at first, so obviously I'm going to be clicking everything in all future newsletters just to be sure lol.
Uhhhh... yeah. That's all.
See you next time, and happy holidays!

I have Undertale on the PS4, and apart from the trophies you get from just playing the game, the only extra trophies are all related to the Dog Shrine. And we're talking, like, fifteen trophies out of a total of thirty here. I have all of them.
The trophy for obtaining all the other Undertale trophies is called 'Don't You Have Anything Better To Do?' Which is obviously a quote from the game, and I brushed it off with a joke when I first got it. "Nope, not really, getting all the Undertale trophies is the most important thing in my life right now." But the fact is, I did have better things to do, and yet I spent hours on end getting gold for the Dog Shrine and feeding it coin by coin into the dognations box, just to get that trophy. I didn't really have any proper reason for wanting the trophy in the first place, it was just... there, it existed, and so obviously I had to get it.
I find it interesting just how well that ties into some of the points the game makes, especially in the Genocide route. "You're, uh, very determined, aren't you? You'll never give up, even if there's, uh... absolutely NO benefit to persevering whatsoever. If I can make that clear. No matter what, you'll just keep going. Not out of any desire for good or evil... but just because you think you can. And because you 'can'... You 'have to'."
Um. Yeah. Just something that came to mind while I was replaying Undertale.

Personally, I think it's about the choice. In real life, you're discouraged from, say, stealing, but that doesn't mean you CAN'T do it. In these games, you have the option to kill them. It's not a happy ending, you're discouraged from it, but you still have the option to. Hell, you have reason enough to sometimes, given that you've probably been killed by some of these monsters. But you also have the choice to be kind. To spare everyone. To work for a happy ending, no matter how many times they fight you or kill you, no matter how many reasons or opportunities you have to hurt them. It doesn't MEAN anything if it's the only option you have. But if you choose it? If you have different options, if you have however many possible endings, and and you make the choice to put your time and effort into being kind, showing mercy, getting that happy ending for everyone? That means something. That's part of what makes the True Pacifist ending hit so hard. Because you chose it.
- Pup
Something I never understood about the darker routes of both Undertale and Deltarune is that if the game discourages you from doing this, then why was it an option in the first place? And another thing to note is that we are defined by actions, but is it really you if someone else is calling the shots? Sometimes it feels like that those two and everything in their worlds are just playthings. Created to be broken and discarded.

Did a True Reset to replay the game again. I swear, Flowey's speech hurts every time. And I know that's the intended effect lol, but he's RIGHT.
"Seems as if everyone is perfectly happy." They are. This is the best ending.
"Well. There is one thing. One last threat." There is. There always will be.
"That's the power you were fighting to stop, isn't it? The power that I wanted to use." Yes. Yes, it was. And yet, here we are. Flowey is such an interesting parallel to the player.
"So please. Just let them go. Let Frisk be happy. Let Frisk live their life." I want so badly to say that I can't. But that's not it. I COULD. I could close the game and never touch it again. But I won't. Because I love playing it, I love achieving that happy ending every time. I don't even play any of the other routes, I can't hurt them like that. But I like spending time with these characters, I like playing the True Pacifist route. So I reset. And I do it over and over and over again. I don't want to let them go.
"You'll have to erase my memories, too. I'm sorry." This shouldn't be as much of a loss, right? Flowey is the antagonist on most routes. More than that, he remembers. He reminds you that your actions can't just be erased. Shouldn't it be a relief to know that he won't remember this? And yet it isn't. It feels strangely like a loss. Like I mentioned before, there are a lot of parallels between Flowey and the player. He's the only one who knows what being able to reset is like, he's the only one who knows what seeing everything else as a game is like, he's the only one who really remembers everything properly. There's a certain understanding that comes with that. And it definitely feels like more of a loss after the True Pacifist ending.
"You've probably heard this a hundred times already, haven't you?" More times than you know, Flowey. And it hurt every time.
I would let them live their lives, have their happy ending. That was what I was fighting for, right? But I don't... want to let them go.
This game, man. This stars-damned game. Even though I know what's going to happen, it still hits me right in the heart every time. Which is why I keep playing it despite everything, because the True Pacifist ending still hits me too.

Do you think that, even though Chara's gone, Killer still has little bits of them in him?
He uses his knives, obviously, but it's more than just that. His grin isn't quite the same anymore - Sans at least tried to make it look natural, but this smile is too wide and too sharp and he uses it as a threat more than a mask. He unthinkingly uses a word or phrase that's just a bit too formal for his usual casual speech. He's Dust's best friend, but every now and then, Killer smiles and Dust has to take a moment to remind himself that he isn't in the judgement hall, that the stretched, knife-sharp grin belongs to his friend and not a human child. Killer and Cross share a love of chocolate that nobody questions, even though both of them have had their respective Charas in their heads, and when he gets caught stealing Cross' chocolate, he laughs it off easily - he laughs off most things.
Idk, I try to include that sort of thing while I'm writing him. I just find it interesting.

Pups also writing an AMAZING FIC, which you can find on Wattpad, ao3, and possibly some other platforms, feel free to as her yourself!

She also does a one-shots and requests fit on wattpad!
Was there every any hope for Dream and Nightmare?
Could they have stayed in their universe, stayed together, stayed happy?
Maybe. But somehow, I can't see it, at least not after the village comes into the picture. They might have been able to stay in their own little bubble forever, but as soon as that outside force exists, the clock starts ticking.
It was Nightmare who couldn't take it anymore. But it could have easily been Dream. Either way, it was only a matter of time. I don't think there was any avoiding it, not really. Not in their situation, not with who they are.
Nightmare. The scapegoat, the dark one, the moon, the night. Tied to his brother by his very name, because even though he wasn't a nightmare, he's Dream's opposite, and that is all he was ever seen as by others. The dark to Dream's light, the negativity to Dream's positivity. Always defined by his brother, even before he was hurt for merely existing. Did he ever really get to be his own person?
And Dream, the golden one, the perfect one, the kind one, the sun. Always so helpful and positive. Always in demand, because who doesn't want to be happy? Their happiness is his responsibility. So he smiles, he helps, he conceals all the stress and sadness and anger and grief. He can't be seen with negative emotions, he can't effect others with his own feelings, he can't let his own feelings or needs or self matter when there's always other people who need him. So he keeps up that sunshine mask, keeps all the clouds and rain and storms locked in the dark where nobody can see them.
You can't maintain masks like that under enough built-up pressure. Eventually, something breaks.
Maybe they still had a chance. Broken things can heal, after all. Maybe they could have helped each other, grown, figured out a way to make things better.
Or maybe they were doomed from the start.
All I know is that if one didn't break, the other would have eventually.

Potter Ramble :P
Tilly here!
okay so this post isn't undertale based but its still a babble and its our blog so whatever! Imma gonna post it here because I made it for rambling and im in a Harry Potter mood
because I was reading through my Harry Potter book I got from the studio tour, would 100% recommend getting for any die hard potterhead!
Tumblr media
---------- (^OuO^");~ ----------
Okay so we know that Caput Draconis is the first Gryffindor password, as shown in Philosophers (or sorcerers I believe if your American) Stone, the very first movie, as well as book.
'Caput Draconis' specifically means 'dragons head' in Latin and is the Gryffindor password used at the start of each year- I assume. It just makes sense in my mind to always have the same password at the start of the year as the students haven't had a chance to see the new password posted in the common room before actually entering said room.
And the its been shown that while prefects are to let the first years into the common room, older students are on their own.
And that lead me to wondering how such an importAant password was picked out... At first I was wondering if it had something to do with the schools motto of "Draco Dormiens Nunquam Titillandus" which of course translates to 'never tickle a sleeping dragon'
…but then wouldn't it make sense for the other common rooms to have starting passwords of the same sort...?
And so I, like the good person I am, looked it up, and while it may be from hogwarts legacy, im not entirely sure as I haven't personally played a Hufflepuff and it was a passing g though train so I wasn't too thorough in my research so I will bow my head if im wrong and get corrected by an educated individual, but it seem to already disprove my original theory.
[Meagre Research: ]
and honestly it makes sense as the traits of hufflepuff are hard working, loyal, friendly, honest, and impartial. Though officially it's trustworthy, hardworking, loyal and kind I suppose if we're to be finicky. They'd be trusted with an unchanging password. Gryffindors are brave to the point of reckless and I think can be easily manipulated to let others in, and Slytherins are cunning and would do anything to achieve their goals, while Ravenclaws enjoy a good riddle and like to exercise the mind so their one makes sense too.
[I would like to point out google provided a different answer to Hufflepuffs password and really I need people too tell me which is true because my second result is: "Hufflepuff's Common Room PasswordTo enter their common room, one must provide the password "Nebulous Min Balto Nia." This unique password ensures that only Hufflepuff students and authorised individuals can enter, maintaining the security and privacy of the Hufflepuff common room."
but personally I trust the Wiki's best right off the bat]
SO going off the fact that im assuming there's another reasoning behind the Gryffindor common room password "Caput Draconis," which I did in fact triple check meant "dragon's head" just incase, I found it's associated with an auspicious divination symbol of the same name. The geomantic figure "Caput Draconis" is "fortunate with starting or beginning new things." So that gives us a new one to go off- Maybe its the fat lady herself who chose it after some thought, or Godrick Gryffindor thought it up himself, though it matters not to me really, as I was long past curious about that particular point by now. At the beginning of the 1890–1891 school year, the Slytherin common room's entry password was "Aspiration". - according to Google, as always~
So I suppose it has to do with granting luck for the new year while still keeping reference to each housed traits in order to appeal to the students sorted into the house itself. Aspiration is in fact fitting for Slytherin. And it could be seen as a way of telling them to aspire for greatness in the coming year.
And now that I think about it Ravenclaws from what I can tell are a fairly neutral house in the ongoing house wars and rivalries, which makes sense why the way to enter Ravenclaw Tower is to answer a question and give your reasoning… I believe that Rowena Ravenclaw would have welcomed anyone with the wit, as knowledge it to be shared and passed around and that is essentially the point of Ravenclaw, for those who thirst for knowledge.
---------- (^OuO^");~ ----------
if you read this all the way- consider me impressed, I didn't exactly format it to be comfortable for reading, and it may in fact be entirely illegible, but I got excited and this is what this blog is for.... so BYE LOVELIES! If you like it- though I doubt you will, I have a bunch more rambles of the most random things if you want hear it!

UTDR 9th Anniversary Newsletter Musings
(Here's a link to the newsletter if you haven't already read it: Autumn 2024.) (It's spring right now where I am...) (Eh, oh well.)
Tumblr media
First of all, Tori blowing fire to light the candles, very cool, might have to draw that.
Tumblr media
Hmm, that's a lot of a certain number... You know what, I don't even have to go into this, we all know what it's referencing.
Tumblr media
An interview with Sans, heck yeah!
Tumblr media
As I expected, it's a joke, but... uh... just me, or does it seem like it might be talking about something else? Not entirely sure what, but I'm sure there's already plenty of theories despite it literally only coming out today. In any case, it was very amusing and some classic Undertale humour. Also
Tumblr media
Jeez, Tori, it's been years, you've already made your feelings about Asgore's actions clear. Give the poor guy a break. (Link to the full interview if you wanna read it: Sans: What do you think about the number nine?)
Tumblr media
...Toby? Toby, what does this mean? TOBY WHY DO YOU MAKE THE MOST INNOCUOUS STATEMENTS THAT HAVE SO MUCH POTENTIAL MEANING BEHIND THEM ...This is... ominous, to say the least, given the Snowgrave route and the fact that Toriel might join us in the Dark World in Chapter 3... ...I'm just overthinking this, right? ..........right???
Tumblr media
Toby, this is the Undertale fandom you're talking to. Since when have we ever been responsible with Sans or his AUs? You should know better than to trust us with this skeleton by now. *Proceeds to use cup for strawberry milkshake* ....Dammit, now I want to draw him with a bunch of different-coloured eyes... just because...
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Never misses a chance to do this sort of thing, does he? (It has my real name in it, which I don't really want to show, so have some badly edited screenshots instead.) I have made butterscotch cinnamon pie before and it was genuinely delicious. Would love to bake one in that Toriel pie tray. ...I wonder how a fish and chips pie would actually taste, though...?
Tumblr media
PERFECTION
I would buy every single item of this kitchen merch if I had the money.
Tumblr media
*vibrating intensely with excitement*
Tumblr media
Very nice, always cool to see unused stuff and concepts.
Tumblr media
. . .
*Well, there is a man here. *He might be happy to see you. *What do you think?
...I overthink these things too much.
And finally, we get a letter.
My best friend's favorite number is nine. It's because there isn't a number that's higher. 9. 99. 999. 9999. If everything gets high enough, You become invincible. Nothing can hurt you anymore. Nothing can hurt anyone anymore. But isn't it scary, to think there's a highest number? That, if you made 99 good memories, you couldn't hold anymore. So I don't like to keep count of the flowers we pick, or the times that they laugh, or how many scary faces they make. I just hope we'll be friends for 999 more years.
(Couldn't screenshot the whole thing because it was too big, so I just copied the text. Here's a link to the original: Letter) On one hand, the spacing is kind of reminiscent of what we assume is Gaster. But on the other hand, it's not in all caps, and the language is different, and from what we know of the mysterious scientist (which is quite frankly very little), it wouldn't make sense. There is, however, someone else that would make a lot more sense.
*I'll go get the flowers. *I should have laughed it off, like you did... *Okay, [Name], are you ready? *Do your creepy face!
And most telling of all, "My best friend"...
It's. It's Asriel. IT'S GOTTA BE AZZY OKAY COME ON, THERE'S THE MENTION OF THE SCARY FACES AND EVERYTHING
...Ahem.
My hypothesis is that it's Asriel Dreemurr.
Aaaaannnddd... that's it for this newsletter! I needed somewhere to dump my thoughts on it, and that's kinda what this blog is for, so yeah.
A very happy birthday to my favourite game of all time.
If you have any theories or observations about the newsletter, I'd love to see them!
See ya next time, Pup

What if Dust succeeded?
What if he got enough LV, enough Determination, to take control of the timeline? Through Nightmare's gang, or through his own AU. What if he managed to get rid of the human for good and reset?
Well, I'm pretty sure that you can only reset back to the point where you became the most determined being in the underground, since Frisk can only reset back to their fall and Flowey ends up back when he first woke up as a flower. So he wouldn't be able to get his friends back, not if they were all dead by the time he got the power to reset.
But that's less interesting, sooooo let's say that he joined Nightmare's gang, and his human is still doing whatever back in his AU, and he manages to become more determined than them and comes back to Dusttale and kills them before they've managed to kill more than a few monsters.
He kills them. And they don't come back. They're finally gone. He's done it.
People ask him where he's been, although it's only been an hour or two for them. He could come up with a lie easily, but... he doesn't. He can't. He can't do... anything, really, but cling to his brother, who isn't dust, isn't headless, isn't red-eyed and ghostly. Who is alive. They're all alive, and nobody can ever take them from him again.
The others don't understand. Yesterday, Sans was his usual cheerful self, smiling and cracking jokes and slacking off his job. This morning, he disappears for a few hours and comes back with red in his eyes and something... well... dusty staining his jacket. His voice is quiet, his puns are rare to non-existent, his smile is too wide and too sharp and too unnerving, and he's looking at them all like he hasn't seen them in years. They can't make sense of it.
For Dust, though? Everyone is alive. Papyrus is alive. For the first time in... however the hell long it's been, his smile is genuine. Then...
"SANS."
He glances up from where he's wrapped tight in his brother's arms. "Yeah, Paps?"
Papyrus blinks. "WHAT?"
"You said my name...?"
"I DIDN'T SAY ANYTHING."
"SANS." It's his brother's voice, but not. It's hissing, cruel, and more familiar than Papyrus' real voice at this point.
And hovering behind Papyrus is a figure. A skull, a scarf, clawed, gloved hands. Glowing red eyes filled with malice.
Everyone is alive. Dust succeeded. But a reset doesn't get rid of the dust staining his hands. As he hugs Papyrus, he can't shake the memories of how damn easy it was to turn him to dust.
Time passes. Weeks, months, years. Maybe another human falls down. Maybe not. If one does, you can bet that Dust isn't letting them take a single step past the Ruins door. Maybe the monsters get to the Surface. Maybe they stay stuck Underground.
Dust tries. He really, really tries. This is his happy ending, right? This is what he's been fighting for. So he tries to go back to being Sans. He wears his hood down, he leaves his scarf in his room, he goes to Grillby's and makes jokes and doesn't so much as summon a bone attack or pick up a knife.
But his chest is too tight and he can't breathe properly without the comforting weight of the scarf. He reaches to pull the hood up automatically. Maybe he lashes out without thinking, maybe he comes close a couple of times to dusting someone, and maybe Phantom encourages it, maybe he misses the power and hates himself for it. He starts ordering alcohol instead of ketchup at Grillby's. And no matter what he does, he can't quite get the smile right, he can't force his eyelights to go back to being white.
Maybe, after a while, Papyrus Checks him.
*(Sans. ATK 38, DEF 4. Not the brother you know anymore.)
And that's wrong, it MUST be wrong, because Sans' stats have all been at 1 for ages now, and at first he tries to argue with himself that maybe Sans has more Hope now? Maybe he's getting better? Maybe this is a good thing? But he takes one look at Sans' red-and-blue eyelights, at the dusty red scarf that so closely resembles his own, and he can't lie to himself.
So he asks.
And Dust, panicking, reaches for his newfound power before he can think about it.
RESET
And he's driving a bone through the human child's chest, their blood staining the snow, their body suspended for a split second that lasts for an eternity before it falls limply to the ground. Where it stays.
How many times does it happen? Maybe once, maybe five times, maybe ten, maybe more. Maybe he relives events again and again, but this time it's him who's resetting the timeline, letting his fear take control, trying over and over and over to find his happy ending, to make things the way they were.
Or maybe he's terrified to reset, to be stuck in that cycle again. Maybe he just... doesn't answer. And Papyrus doesn't tell anyone, just leans down and puts his arms around his brother, because maybe Sans can't tell him what's happening but he'll be there for him anyway, and Dust finds himself clinging tightly to Papyrus, hiding his face in his hood and his brother's shoulder, because he doesn't deserve this comfort from this wonderful amazing monster that he has dusted too many times to count, but he can't resist it, not after going for so long without it.
Life... goes on, the timeline goes on. And he's never Sans again. He can't get rid of the LV, the EXP, the Determination, the red in his eyelights, the twisted version of Papyrus in his head. He can't even bring himself to get rid of the scarf. But everyone's alive, and maybe that can be enough, even if he isn't exactly the same. Papyrus says that even the worst person can change. Does Dust change? Maybe, maybe not. But for his friends, his brother, his happy ending, he can at least give it a shot.
Idk, honestly, I'm writing this when I should be asleep and it's probably not very accurate, but the idea's been lingering in my brain for the past day or two and idk how I'd make it a fic so im here rambling about it instead.

[When you realise hey someone else did an intro and you should probably have done that at some point ] ... ^O.O^ ...
Welp... Call me Tilly :P and I was just the loser here from the beginning hehehe... ummm.... HI! (Pup calls me milady- we have a Mutt and Milord type reference thing going, but I really don't expect anyone but Pup to ever use it lol, figured I'd elaborate on it though)
Guess I'm doin' this now
Heya, I'm here now too. I'm the friend that was mentioned in the post about Underfell collars. I dabble mostly in canon info, thus why I had to ask about the collars. You can call me whatever, I don't really care, but the name I usually use for myself on here is Rose. I'll be posting the occasional ramble or rant.
