Rose-Tinted Lens

"You tell me I need to face reality, that removing this rose-tinted lens is the way to growing up and accepting the harsh world in which we live in. But I have seen the world;

I have walked the sandy banks of the deepest of green rivers, I have felt the cool brush of the waterfall mists and I have tasted its bitter salt on my tongue. In the late hours of clear summer nights I have traveled, never in solitude, beneath the moons reflection; I have spent hours into the chill of dawn attempting to count the stars.

I have spread myself out against the thick fields, traced my fingers through dandelions, and I have spread myself out against the snow and felt its icy chill seep into my bones. I've found a glowing presence beside me when my room cast itself into darkness, and we would laugh until all the breath left our lungs.

You say this is not how the world truly is. You say this rose-tinted lens lies; but I have tasted this rich earth, I have embraced every bit that the mother has offered to me. I have felt its warmth and admired its beauty. If this is not how our world truly is, then perhaps it is the world that needs a better lens."
