Looked at a module for the first time and 2 days later sat the exam.
I did a good job.
Horrible news, I should not have learned I am capable of this.

Just wanted to say thank you all so much! Especially those who RBed/shared it with others. I got great data with plenty of responses from all demographics of interest <3 y'all rock
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE HELP ME GRADUATE
My final project is worth 20% of my entire degree. I need the data by next week but I am ~disabled~ and ~mentally ill~ and ~everyone keeps dying~ so I didn't publish this 'till Tuesday 😅
If anyone finds a minute this week to read a short children's picture book about diabetic foot ulcers and then answer the survey I would be forever grateful.
ALSO if you know any educators (like teachers or librarians), parents or healthcare scientists/workers/students their data would be invaluable to me if y'all could share.
Please read and share my silly little children's book 🙏🏻

you'll get the urge as an artist or a writer to say out loud the things you're worried about "the proportions are off" "kind of out of character" "i'm not good at summaries" "didn't get as much detail as i wanted" "i made a mistake and here's how" and that's the self-conscious part of your brain telling you "it's bad and if you don't tell them you know it's bad then they'll think you're stupid" but you've got to ignore that little voice and pretend you think it's good or else that little voice is going to ruin your life

Me clicking 'ok' on websites telling me that this is only for medical professionals
I'm preparing for my next inorganic synthesis lab, which includes writing down the safety hazards of all the chemicals I'll be using, so I'm looking through the SDS for DMF and it says "restricted to professional users" and I, a lowly student, am sitting here like

This!!
People complain that social media causes young girls to hate their bodies but honestly I've never struggled with that personally, like on instagram I'll always just think 'oh she looks beautiful what a creative photo to show off her curves by matching her underwear with that prop' kinda thing. I don't instinctively compare it to my own body.
But linked in?? If one more person my age does work experience or a leadership role at uni or a big voluntary project I'm gonna KILL myself! I feel like if you grew up being bullied for your looks but praised for your grades you kinda know you don't look like a model but your academic/career performance is what you learned to build your entire self-esteem on. It makes me feel so mediocre :(
linkedin causes such envy in me that not even instagram can be compared to…. like sure whatever you got engaged, but you could also eventually get divorced and those degrees aren’t going anywhere….

HELP ANOTHER STUDENT! If you study a bioscience at an undergraduate level
Hi guys, one of my course mates needs data for her final project. I'll paste the email she sent out below. It's REALLY hard to get participants for final projects and its worth 1/3 of our final year, which is worth 50% of our entire degree!! If you can't take part, please share.
Dear fellow student,
I am a final year Biomedical Science student, and as part of my final-year science communication project I have created an educational resource about Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS) for undergraduate bioscience students to complete. This involves completing the pre-resource questionnaire, then going through the case-based PCOS resource and finally completing the post-resource questionnaire. It should take 20-25 minutes to complete. To access the resource, you will be prompted to enter a unique identification number, and this also needs to be entered into the questionnaires (clear instructions will be on the page). I advise the resource is completed on a laptop/desktop, as the elements in the resource work better. Your participation would be greatly valued and appreciated.
And here is the link to the SoftChalk resource:
Thank-you
Best wishes
Ayomide

Reblogging because getting participants is HARD
... by filling out my questionnaire!
Hi! I am a student of cognitive science and I am writing my BA thesis on the use of generative AI in fandom spaces.
If you belong to a fandom, and you are familiar with the Harry Potter series, please fill out this form!
It is completely anonymous. It will require reading 3 short texts (no longer than 400 words) in the later sections of this questionnaire.
Please respond to the questions as truthfully as possible! Remember, all answers are valid!
After you finish it, please share this post! I want to collect as many answers as possible!
This research is conducted under The Centre for Cognitive Science at JU.
If you have any questions, check out my intro post or leave a question in the ask box

130 days of productivity 5/130
Lectures:
Imaging in Biomedical Research (turned up but my ADHD ass went to put in the attendance code and just checked the time :(()
Human Reproductive Biology
Tasks today:
Bought a mouse, headphones and new phone charger
Bought energy drinks, breakfast bars and deodorant for uni
Brought the bulk of my desk set up for uni and put in locker
Put ASC social events into my diary
Booked a careers meeting to talk about getting my degree IBMS accredited
Emailed my tutor back
Looked properly into second year units and emailed Introduction to Virology course leader to see if timetable would clash/if I can attend a lecture
Emailed back evacuation plan people
Went shopping
Tasks for tomorrow:
Go over bioimaging lecture 1
Do tutorial preparation
Work out a savings plan for masters
Imma be real bois it ain't great. Coming back from an interruption I can FEEL that everyone has cliques and friends and I'm just tryna insert myself from every angle. After every conversation I'm on the edge of a panic attack just like we ran out of things to say and I'm just HERE.
Haven't missed anything yet which is incredible for me. Restarted my ADHD medication today which has me absolutely tweaking so hopefully I'll calm down a bit once that's settled. My keyboard is missing so I'm using a bluetooth one which is really flat, not great for my weird elbow and my hand rest would be too high but hopefully my partner will get a bluetooth link thingy for the PC he built and he can swap.
Student loan came through! Got a mouse at CEX today which is a £15 draggy piece of shit. Got headphones for £6 that are just BROKEN. Real quiet, static whenever I move...nothing is going very well. And the uni wifi is just as garbage as my home wifi. Hmm. Oh well.

I am having an early life crisis!!!
I've been looking more and more into the vascular science specialism and it might genuinely not be for me. As my physical abilities have declined (possibly arthritis?) I'm starting to think I just couldn't handle all the pain of going up down left right and sideways all day every day!
So like OK do I do radiography? I was never that great at physics and I don't really know what their day-to-day looks like.
Do I do medical imaging at all? When I was working at the law office I THRIVED but bruh the work was boring and often the impact you had on peoples' lives was 50/50 helping or devastating them. IDK if even administrative positions within the NHS would suit me.
Hell maybe I can't even handle going into the NHS. It's a 24/7 taxing ass role with very little opportunity for part-time work.
So...what do I want?? What I'd love to do is do a rotation or shadow multiple departments within the NHS but with a biomed degree it is so so so hard to get into hospitals. I really regret doing biomed not healthcare science just because a Russel Group looked better to me as a naive 19 year old.
Ugh.
