My father was a victim of abuse from my mother. He told me of having to sleep on the couch to avoid my mother’s unwanted advances. Rape happens to EVERYONE.

If you hear a man say he was raped, abused, etc. PLEASE LISTEN. He is telling you the truth. Encourage him to report it just like you would encourage a woman. Underreporting only rewards the abusers and the rapists, not the victims.

One in three women have been or will be sexually assaulted at some time in their lifetime. One in five men have been or will be sexually assaulted at some time in their lifetime. The numbers aren’t much different, so why don’t we hear more about the men who are assaulted? Why don’t they tell? The answer to that question lies largely in the lies their rapists tell them. See for yourself.

Reblogging for all the times my mother asked me why I wasn't normal and why I was wasn't like my brother, and for all the times she abused me. Sticks and stones will break my bones but words hurt FOREVER.
