Me: I’m going to start watching Andor yet again. 

Also me, 3 minutes into the episode: Okay time for a new Kenari theory because I remain obsessed with how little sense the everything about it makes, in a show that is so very tightly woven. 

Kenari, where all the adults died in a “mining disaster” (see: Jedha) and all the kids possibly (presumably?) died in the aftermath of the ship (leaking poison gas [carrying poison gas? see: Geonosis]) crash and subsequent investigation. 

There were no survivors on Kenari, we’re told. Maarva says.

Everyone died, Xanwan reads. 

People have heard of Kenari. Kind of. Grimly. Certainly no one knows anyone from Kenari. But there was a girl from Kenari, according to Cassian’s friend, she was working at the brothel. She’s moved on, he’s told. No one gives real names. Pick a name for yourself.

What if Maarva’s right? There were no survivors on Kenari. Cassian cannot exist. We’ve always said Fest. 

What if “from Kenari” is a rebel/resistance code to identify one another?  

Because no one is actually from Kenari, they can’t be. Except. Cassian is from Kenari. Running around looking for survivors from Kenari that anyone who’s heard of it knows can’t exist. 

How compelling. It must mean something. He must be meant for something.

I am having a LOT of trouble watching Andor. I don’t know, I’m just finding it stressful to watch a show about small isolated groups of people trying to relieve the abuse of a corrupt exploitative politico-economic-social system that controls every aspect of their lives.

Like, I can’t imagine why I might find this stressful, I am so confused. I just want to watch pretty Star Wars people.

Let people grow.

When I was younger I was very right-wing. I mean…very right-wing. I won’t go into detail, because I’m very deeply ashamed of it, but whatever you’re imagining, it’s probably at least that bad. I’ve taken out a lot of pain on others; I’ve acted in ignorance and waved hate like a flag; I’ve said and did things that hurt a lot of people.

There are artefacts of my past selves online – some of which I’ve locked down and keep around to remind me of my past sins, some of which I’ve scrubbed out, some of which are out of my grasp. If I were ever to become famous, people could find shit on me that would turn your stomach.

But that’s not me anymore. I’ve learned so much in the last ten years. I’ve become more open to seeing things through others’ eyes, and reforged my anger to turn on those who harm others rather than on those who simply want to exist. I’ve learned patience and compassion. I’ve learned how to recognise my privileges and listen to others’ perspectives. I’ve learned to stand up for others, how to hear, how to help, how to correct myself. And I learned some startling shit about myself along the way – with all due irony, some of the things I used to lash out at others for are intrinsic parts of myself.

You wouldn’t know what I am now from what I was then. You wouldn’t know what I was then from what I am now.

It distresses me deeply to think of someone dredging up my dark, awful past and treating me as though that furiously hateful person is still me. It distresses me to see others dredging up the past for anyone who has made efforts to become a better person, out of some sick obsession with proving they’re “problematic.”

Purity culture tells you that once someone says or does something, they can never go back on it. That’s a goddamn lie. While it’s true that some remain unrepentant and never change their ways and continue to harm others, it’s important to allow everyone the chance to learn from their mistakes. Saying something ignorant isn’t murder. Please stop treating it that way. Let people grow.

I think canonically Melshi is older then Cassian, which means he has a type. And I 100% respect that he’d be into older, competent guys that would lie to the cops for him. Or, you know, kill a few with him.

lots of people saying cassian should get a boyfriend, lots of people saying it should be melshi, and i don't disagree, i respect the melshi/cassian hustle, but i think in a different world it could've been brasso. you know, the big guy who was ready to lie for cassian at the drop of a hat just cause the man said "please i need this"? and then put his full pussy into that lie too, taking note of cassian's bruises and going so far as to fabricate a reason for them ("you insulted my choice of beverage [...] i was helping you back into your chair when you fell")? the guy who chained that pre-mor security craft into that hunk of scrap to sabotage their efforts to detain cassian? idk all of that was just incredibly sexy to me and i think big loyal working man brasso could've absolutely obliterated that twink. sorry i didn't mean to say that last part i meant to say obliterated that twink. i meant to say obliterated. obliterated that. fuck
