It’s probably a good thing he has his eyes closed, anyway, because he misses the way both Willie and Reggie tense at his words. Before Alex can look back down, Reggie uses his non-injured hand to wipe away the tears that have fallen, and Willie steps away to wrap his arms around himself, thumb rubbing at his bicep.

Or, Willie and Reggie aren't dumb. They're kind of sick of being told otherwise.

It really seemed like that was her intention. But then she asked about—I can't even remember his full name. But she asked me about the prince of Beasiga. The prince of Beasiga, who was my father." Willie's thumb stops.
