self forgiveness
I was driving home and imagining forgiving someone, remembering an experience that was uncomfortable. then i realized, hey, Can I forgive MYSELF for how I reacted to the situation?
I held an image of myself and how I responded to the situation. And i just looked for a bit. I could totally understand why I responded that way. And yes, although it was uncomfortable, and although i do have some feelings about my reactions (maybe a bit embarrassed or ashamed or resistant of my reaction), ultimately, I DO feel ok with forgiving myself for my response.
for some reason, this unlocked something in me and I was able to look at an even tougher event in my past and ask a similar question- can I forgive myself for my response to that experience? It felt really really scary to ask that for some reason. But I really really wanted to give myself the chance and the space to look at this and forgive myself, if possible. So I said, it’s ok, just look and see if you are willing to forgive yourself for your personal reaction. So I looked again at my past self, and I saw myself scared and sad and enraged and really at a loss for what to do. And I just let myself look at that. I let myself really be with that image of my past self, watching myself feeling those feelings. And I could finally feel some compassion for myself…. Of course I can forgive myself for feeling that way, of course I can forgive myself for reacting how I did. It wasn’t perfect, it wasn’t graceful, it wasn’t even necessarily helpful to the situation at hand. Yet I feel an urgency and deep need to forgive myself. For this and all that I have done and will do. For all my conscious and unconscious reactions. i feel my life includes a series of reactions… and i want to bring my awareness to all these unfolding moments and give my loving acceptance and forgiveness to whatever arises.

What if it didn’t matter what our attention was on, but instead the quality of attention we were giving? What if we allow the unconditional loving awareness of the Eternal to be aware through our body and mind…? it’s not really a doing so much as an allowing. but if you feel like Doing, what happens if you try imagining holding what ever you are paying attention to, holding it in eternal love? Your phone screen being held in eternal love!! The sound of your refrigerator being held in eternal love. Whatever else your attention moves to… being held in eternal love. Sometimes it’s nice to have something to do with our imaginations…. but i notice when i let go of that active imagining and just allow the eternal to do what it wants to do, through my body, i feel more expansive and at ease. let me know what you experience….

subtle sensations
let’s tune into some subtle sensations. Notice whatever your attention goes and gently follow your attention as if on a leisurely aimless wander. I’m noticinga slight tingle in my feet, a slight tightness in my belly, the sounds of my son thumping his hand repeatedly on the couch cushion and the sight in my peripheral vision of his hand bouncing up and down. The vibrations of the couch as they ripple towards and through my body. A gentle smile on my face. Tingles in my fingers and feet. Tightness in my upper belly. A big breath and
Just notice where your attention wanders to sounds, sights, subtle body sensations, smells, tastes, thoughts, visions…. Whatever you notice in this journey, just appreciate it as if you are on a walk through nature. You don’t need to interact with any of the things you notice, but feel free to follow your curiosity if you do want to zoom your attention in on something a bit more to observe a sensation more closely. Notice what happens if you approach a sensation with curiosity and gentle attention. One thing I notice is that nothing ever is static, there is constant movement, flowing… every moment arising and moving on…

Shining through confusion, doubt, rage, and whatever else may arise. Enthusiastically sharing its eternal loving nature. I see it. Then imagine yourself feeling that, right now. Let yourself fully embody that feeling, Now. No need to wait for the feeling, the energy, you are yearning for. It is already there in you. Allow it to expand through your body and to expand outward. Just glow with that energy. Try that thru the day today.

Give yourself a moment to define a creative endeavor of yours. It may be fixing your house, planning a trip, creating a work of art, or finding a new job. Whatever it is you have been imagining creating in your life, take a moment with it. Watch the images in your mind and give them an energetic container. A bright bubble of light works. Let the creation be in that bubble. Play with the bubble. Let it have roots that go into the earth. Let it connect up to the eternal cosmic sun above…. notice how playing with your creation changes your experience of it. Sprinkle some energetic intentions in the bubble. If you don’t like how it’s looking in the bubble, you can pop it anytime and start fresh.

Whatever it is that is going on in your mind, a thought, a picture…. turn on a light in there. Let the room of your mind brighten up ten times. 100 times. See how bright you can get it. See what different brightnesses feel like, or how they change your experience.  let the words you are thinking be filled with light. Let the images you are imagining be filled with and radiating light. Experiment with that today.

Imagine you are on a golden path throughout your day. Or if its easier to imagine being connected to a shining golden thread, I could imagine holding it like a ribbon and following it, or that it is connected through my body like a bright thread through my solar plexus. However you want to imagine, follow the thread throughout the day with the knowing that this thread, this light, is your path, and while you may not know What you will encounter along it or what will happen, you do know that it is your highest path, your soul path, and a fulfillment of your purpose.
