Just a thought that I wanted to share

As many of you know I’m currently a CNA in nursing school

I work with the elderly in a nursing home I provide full care to these patients whom have dementia, Alzheimer’s etc.

And I was talking with someone and mentioned my job and it wasn’t until I answered this person that I stopped and really thought about what I do everyday

The previous comment was “... must be hard work”

My answer was this

“It honestly is but it’s always worth it

I literally get the shit kicked out of me pooped on bled on peed on

But these people are great full for all I do for them they no longer can care for themselves and helping them do it isn’t glamorous or always fun but weather the resident shows it or not they appreciate it they love us

We’re there when their life falls apart and neither they or their family can care for them and we’re there when they don’t feel good or scared and we’re there when they take their last breath

My residents never die alone and they are cared for more than they know”

Just remember that nurses cna’s healthcare workers etc are almost always overworked underpaid and exhausted.

We miss time with our families and children and sleep to take care of your loved ones

We pick up shifts and make it work to make sure your loved ones are safe comfortable and as healthy as possible

Next time you see a local healthcare worker thank them
