Spoilers For Sword of Summer, chapter 21: Let’s play a game called Are They Dead?, because honestly, I’m confused. Maggie says he’s dead, so that’s that, right? But, he still needs to eat and sleep. Plus, Gunilla says the einherjar are immoral. This all seems like living to me, yet Valhalla is considered one of the afterlives. Another thing, if the einherjar don’t come back in Ragnarok, what happens? Do they become nothing? Do they go to a different afterlife? I mean, we know there is more than one. This whole dead/alive thing is confusing me.

You know, I never really shipped Silena and Beckendorf. I don’t hate them, they’re cute, I was just never really into shipping minor characters. Then The Lightning Thief Musical accused Beckendorf of cheating on Silena and it’s like this ship has turned to gold and I will protect it with everything I have.

Spoilers for Sword of Summer, chapter 20: I have a feeling Gunilla is going to be an interesting character. I think we got a bad first impression of her because Sam doesn’t like her. I mean, she did seem to carry some prejudices for children of Loki, but I’m sure she can learn to look passed prejudices she was taught. Also, while we’re on the topic of Loki, how can he have children if he’s currently tied up? You know what, never mind; I got to stop questioning things.

Spoilers for Sword of Summer, chapter 19: I don’t know much about Frey, only that he’s the god of spring and summer, as stated in the book, but I’m going to take a stab and say he is also a healing god, like Apollo, that’s why Maggie healed so fast. It also sounded like he could have healed Mallory, but just didn’t get the chance. Also, I would like to point out, berserkers were very difficult to kill because they were seriously high during battle and could barely feel any pain. So does this mean that Halfborn was getting high during breakfast or is he just permently high because that’s how he died? I shouldn’t have to ask this about a book aimed towards kids, but here we are.

I know this blog is suppose to be about the riordanverse, but I’ve been thinking about the Hogwarts episode of Sanders Sides. I never read Harry Potter, so I started thinking, instead wizards, how about magicians. This is what I came up with:
Type of magic
Roman - Combat magic, obviously. He just has to trade his sword in for a khopesh.
Logan - I can see Logan wanting to learn divine words because of the challenge they present.
Virgil - Would probably stick with charm making since it doesn’t require too much energy.
Patton - I would see Patton learning elemental magic, specifically (and you have to know this is coming) cheese. I mean, it’s Patton, he’s studying cheese.
Deceit - Now we haven’t seen much of Deceit, so perhaps it’s too early to judge, but I could see him getting into chaos magic.
Path of the gods
Roman - Horus, no question
Logan - Thoth, again, no question
Virgil - I have thought about this for a long time, but no one really seems to fit and, honestly, I don’t even think Virgil would want to be caught up in all that stuff
Patton - This was also a little tricky, since there isn’t actually a cheese god (that I know of), but I can see him following the path of Tawaret
Deceit - Not really a lot of options here, if he uses chaos magic, he kinda has to follow Set.
That’s all I got. I’m just going to tag @thatsthat24 and hope he might see this.

Spoilers for Hidden Oracle, page 28: So, the boys swim team at my high school had this tradition where they would all bleach their hair since the chlorine was going to damage it anyways. Percy is on his school’s swim team. May I suggest Percy with bleached hair?

Spoilers for The Hidden Oracle, chapter 15: Okay, I know I posted about this yesterday, that post was already getting long and I need to talk about this. How does Apollo have children with men? I mean, he’s a god he can do whatever he wants, but like, what is his method? Earlier, he mentions being able to turn into anything he wants, does he turn into a woman to carry he child? He also mentions how Zeus carried Dionysus in his thigh, so is that how? Dionysus isn’t even the only child Zeus has bore; Athena came from his head? Can Apollo carry his children in any part of his body? his chest? his arm? Does where the child is carried affect what talent they have? I mean, Athena came from Zeus’ head and she’s the goddess of wisdom. Apollo has many possible gifts he could give a child. I know this will never be answered and it is killing me. I just want to know how he has his children.

Spoilers for The Hidden Oracle, chapter 15: Apollo, you idiot! swearing on the river Styx is not something to take lightly. Think before you speak! Also, I got to be honest about this, when Apollo mentioned Kayla’s other dad, I don’t know why, but paused when I read Canadian. I was like “Kayla’s Canadian?”. Don’t know why. I didn’t question Italian or Brazilian (is Paolo Brazilian or Portuguese? It’s only stated he speaks Portugese), I just assumed she was American. As for Kayla having both a mortal and godly dad, I accidentally fumbled on that knowledge a little while back, so yeah. I mean, it makes sense and it’s happened in mythology before (though both were gods and surprising neither was Apollo).

Spoilers for The Sword of Summer, chapter 18: I’m not a big fan of Mallory, but I like T.J., though I don’t know how he’s a junior if his dad is a god.

I recently found out Magnus Chase is a trilogy, not a five book series like I assumed. Now I’m sad. This is Kane Chronicles all over again.

You know what I just realized? We all remember how because of the great prophecy, Zeus tried to kill Bianca and Nico; that’s why they were hidden. But here’s the thing, both Zeus and Poseidon are well known for... let’s say dating. They date a lot of mortals, so chances are they had a few kids under sixteen themselves. Which means Zeus and Poseidon either killed each other’s kids or, even worse, killed their own, just to avoid the prophecy.

Spoilers for The Hidden Oracle, chapter 14: first, I love the this chapter title. I guess he won’t have any slip ups like I was guessing then. Second, Meg. I’m calling it now, her step-Dad is a Roman legacy. I mean, imperial gold swords, he has to be Roman. Not sure Why he didn’t take her to camp. Obviously something bad happened, considering how Meg snapped. He seemed to have taught about the halfblood world, though. Well, I’m assuming him and not her dad since I’m working off the whole Roman legacy idea. Only time will tell I suppose.

Spoilers for The Sword of Summer, chapter 17: yay, a lefty like me. Seriously, this makes me happier than it should. I just love left handed characters. I actually headcanon most the Greek and Roman demigods as lefties since most dyslexics are, but canon is still the best. Also, what is with all the green? Is that like the Norse color? If the Norse has a color, I would have assumed it would be a light blue.

Spoilers for The Sword of Summer, chapter 16: I’ve been for poor Maggie here to return to the living, but for the past couple chapters I’ve been thinking he may stay dead for the whole series. Hearing he was a mistake made me think “okay, now their sending him back to be with the living”, but no. This is crushing my dreams of a giant crossover.

I came up with the idea of the blog after I started reading the books, so these first posts were mostly just catch, trying to fill you in on my thoughts so far. I probably left a lot out. No more though, as I am finally caught up to where I am in the books. Unfortunately, that means, as of now, I won’t be updating as often because my reading schedule is whacky. I’ll probably start commenting on every to every other chapter, though, so it’s a good trade off in my opinion.

Spoilers forThe Hidden Oracle, chapter 13: so Meg McCaffrey is the daughter of Demeter. I was guessing she would be the daughter of Persephone since, so far, she has only ever wielded dead vegetation, though I suppose that could be chalked up to it being winter. It isn’t the first time I’ve been wrong, I thought Leo was going to be the son of Hermes. Something feels off though. I mean, I don’t think Demeter would claim a child that wasn’t hers, but I smell something fishy and it isn’t Percy. Side note: I apparently confused Harley and Nyssa. I was really confused when they called Harley he and had to go back to Lost Hero and reread Leo meeting his siblings. Weird thing to mix up.
