A little bit of a heavier post, but I promise this is like…maybe the first time I’ve fully committed to this idea. Eclipse’s very obvious mental health struggles was always the reason I was drawn into him, and I found a lot of strength simply screaming for him and defending him. I see the worst of me in a new perspective and I get a chance to understand it. I think I’ve been a lot healthier since I entered TSAMS. :]

This is not a vent post though!! Just something that comforts me :] no shame for anyone that gets a little queasy over it, it’s a heavy concept. This is also totally why I scream so much and so long about this man — It feels like you finally get the arguments you’ve wanted to have your entire life. Just through someone else. Huzzah!

UGH I WANT TO ANIMATE THE 30TH SO BAD

I need to explain sometime about that “Eclipse dies…AGAIN?!” Episode. Spoiler: I think that his death was completely planned by himself. 😨 it’s been stirring in my head for so, so long. I have to re-dissect it again.

So. This is conjecture but I happen to think it’s good conjecture.

I think Jack focusing on “sacrificing himself so that Dean and Sam will forgive him” was the smokescreen. He was actively suicidal, but it wasn’t rooted in rejection.

Rejection was the paltry balm over having to look at his own guilt re: Mary. He loved her, and he killed her.

He is so allergic to his own guilt and grief he can’t touch it with a ten foot pole. Ergo, it becomes about Other (TM) things.

He’s not sacrificing himself “because it’s the only way they’ll forgive him” or even because saving the world is the right thing to do. He’s doing it to assuage his own guilt. Maybe even to sidestep dealing with that self-directed hatred.

Nothing works anymore, drugs don’t work (escaping reality) medication doesn’t work (happy pills/sedation pills/sleep pills, therapy/venting/ranting/talking about it doesn’t help, doing happy stuff doesn’t work, no matter what I do nothing changes or feels any different.
