Why do some people completely comprehend the concept of sexuality and gender identity being a constant journey of self-discovery until it’s their fav not identifying how they think said fav should?

I was looking through tiktok for some fun recipes for my Ninja Creami and had a thought:
Why can’t ninja creami recipes just be fun? Why do all them seem so fucking fixated on protein shakes and making “guilt free” treats.
#all food is inherently guilt free because food doesn’t have a say on your moral standing#ninja creami#food#foodie#tiktok#ice cream#recipes

Why "The Pitt" Doesn't Have a Villain [A Kinda Long Rant]
CONTAINS MAJOR PLOT SPOILERS FOR THE PITT
The Pitt is one of the most talked about shows of the year. With a unique concept and a collection of incredible performances, it has caught the eye of a lot of people.
A while ago, I made a post stating that The Pitt didn't have a simple villain. After seeing a few of the responses to that post and just other posts in general, I feel a need to final do a long-winded essay about this whole thing.
Now, the most important thing in this discussion is to define what a villain is. I personally think of a villain as a character that intentionally causes harm/commits malicious acts that are a direct cause of a story's main/a major plotline. There are obviously different archetypes of villains, but this is the most straight-forward perspective that I think ties together numerous definitions I've seen floating around on the internet.
The reason I have trouble calling anyone in The Pitt a villain is because the show isn't setting out to tell an interesting story; it is setting out to be as realistic as possible. It makes calling one person in this show a villain feel like a very tone deaf take that doesn't acknowledge the depth of the stories and of the characters in them.
Every character in this show is very human, so slapping the label of villain on any of them doesn't feel quite right to me.
The big thing that inspired my original post was the way people talked about Santos and Langdon, especially after the release of episode ten. Using the working definition, I cannot call either of them villains. Their actions aren't purely malicious.
Santos is a cocky, assertive character that has been played by countless men that have never been called a villain for it. She doesn't do anything malicious to another character. Which is impressive because I think it would be really easy to make a more traditional villain out of this type of character.
Langdon's hate came later, only emerging when it was revealed that he had an addiction. I think that is a bizarre way to look at addiction, by the way (speaking from personal experience seeing family in active addiction), but that is a discussion for another day. Even in the final episodes when he's kinda crashing out, it didn't feel purely malicious. It felt like a man in denial and in a panic. Did he handle it perfectly? No, because he's an incredibly realistic, very human character.
What about Driscoll?
I saw a few responses to my original post about Driscoll. I get why. He punched a nurse that truly hadn't done anything to antagonize him. Pretty malicious.
My problem with calling Driscoll a villain is that I think it minimizes the issue that The Pitt was trying to discuss. People commonly have a very grandiose vision of villains in their heads, which can make
Violence against healthcare workers, especially nurses is not as rare as many want to believe it is. There was a study conducted by Jacqueline Pich and Michael Roche in 2020. They sent out surveys to members of the New South Wales Nurses and Midwives’ Association. They got over 3000 completed questionnaires back with three quarters of the participants reporting that they had experience violence at the hands of a patient or patient's family in the six months prior to the study. For a look at that U.S., the American Society of Registered Nurses reports that in 2022, 57 nurses are assaulted every day.
People commonly have a very grandiose vision of villains in their heads, which can make such characters a bit larger than life and allows us to disconnect them from the real world.
Driscoll is a terrible person. There's no question there. But to throw the word villain at him serves as a dismissal of all that he represents in this show that is, again, trying to be as realistic as possible. He is not a singular villain, but an example of one of the biggest problems pushing nurses to leave the field.
I think I've covered all of my thoughts for now. If you want to have a respectful and productive conversation, then feel free to reply to this or message me. If you just want to shout about how I'm wrong and throw some insult at me, then keep it to yourself because I will delete and block that shit.
Have a great day. I hope I explained myself decently enough. See you later

At some point, tv show writers/producers/whoever the fuck are gonna have to realize that an actor dying doesn’t mean you need an episode killing off the character.
It very quickly can cross the line into exploiting an individual’s death instead of honoring their memory. I feel like I’ve seen this happening over and over again recently.
Tributes can be lovely when done right. And sometimes that doesn’t mean death. It means allowing them to live the life they have earned as a permanent reminder of an actor’s strength, talent, and passion.

Hi, about the Next to Normal proshot:
I am in love with the setting and the props.
The first act uses a lot of props but they are always pretty quickly cleaned up or put away like how there is pressure to hide what is going on from the public eye. We see this continuous desperation to make things normal.
The second act lets props sit out for longer. Photos and mess are left sitting out as things unravel and we see each member hit their lowest moments. Then, they start to slowly clean up at the end. Not frantically like they’re trying to hide, but instead like there’s a sense of acceptance that yes, there’s no easy way to handle what has happened, but that doesn’t mean they don’t try.

I went into the PBS airing of Next To Normal thinking that it wouldn’t hit me as hard as it did years ago because I knew the story about as well as the back of my hand.
I ended up spending the last twenty minutes of the show aggressively sobbing in front of my poor parents who were dragged into watching the show with me.
Never question the lasting impact of a piece of art.

If I know a show’s been cancelled and I saw some of the internet lose their shit over it, then I won’t watch it. No matter how interesting it looks or how many boxes it ticks for me. It’s not worth the pain.
