12: YOU
This show is AMAZING. If I could scream from the top of a rooftop about how epic this show is, I would do it a hundred times. If I could do a backflip for this show, I would also do that a hundred times. I’ve been telling everyone to watch this show. It came out a couple weeks ago and I’ve already seen it twice. This one is high up on my list and I can’t wait for the second season.
PREMISE: “A clever bookstore manager relies on his savvy Internet know-how to make the woman of his dreams fall in love with him” (2018, IMDb).
GENRE: Crime, Drama
RELEASE DATE: 2018
PRODUCER/DIRECTOR: Greg Berlanti & Sera Gamble
ACTORS/CHARACTERS:
Penn Bagdley
Elizabeth Lail
Shay Mitchell
I don’t care about any of the other actors
ASSESMENT/EVALUTAION:
This series is nuts. I loved every second of it and I didn’t get bored. It is narrated by Joe Goldberg (Penn Bagdley) who we come to learn is a stage 5 stalker. He meets Beck at the bookstore he works at and starts to dig for more information about her.
I just have to come out and say it - I hate Beck. She is the definition of the most basic human being on the planet. Everyone is obsessed with her and I don’t get it because she fucking sucks.
This series has made a lot of headlines because many viewers are actually infatuated with Joe. This is partially because of Gossip Girl and Penn Bagdley’s character on that series. You have to watch it to figure out if you fall into that category. He doesn’t really phase me at all. I don’t really find him attractive because he’s not my type. He’s just a creep.
Please, stop what you are doing and watch this show!!!!!

11: Rapid Fire 2 - DRAMA
Below are 5 awesome TV dramas. Some of them I have not finished because they are either still airing new episodes and I don’t have cable or I got bored after the first couple seasons.
1. The Night Of - HBO - 2017 - 10/10
“After a night of partying with a woman he picked up, a man wakes up to find her stabbed to death and is charged with her murder” (IMDb, 2018).
This is an eight-part HBO limited series. The main character Naz has a wild and spontaneous night that is completely out of character for him. Things escalate pretty quickly and he ends up in police custody. He was at the wrong place at the wrong time. I was so upset that this was it, but at the same time I totally understand why. It was the perfect amount of drama packed into each episode. They keep you on your toes without completely mind-f*ing you. It was so good that I watched it twice.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
2. The Affair - Showtime - 2014 - 9/10
I love, love, love Showtime. They have a lot of really good series. The Affair is one of my favorites on this network. The title is self explanatory. I don’t want to get into too many details because it is super confusing, but I will outline to the best of my abilities.
Noah Solloway is married to Helen and together they have four children. They live in New York City and vacation in Montauk, Long Island during the summertime. Helen comes from a very wealthy family. She owns and works at a store in the city while Noah is a school teacher and aspiring writer.
Allison Bailey is married to her high-school sweetheart Cole Lockhart. They live in Montauk on the beach. Allison is a waitress at a local restaurant and Cole works on his family’s horse farm.
Spoiler! There is an extramarital affair. I won’t tell you who has an affair with who, but everyone ends up getting involved and it turns into a complete shit-show. I have a huge issue with infidelity so it was a little infuriating watching this all go down. Each season has 10 episodes that run for 45 minutes. Each episode is divided in half. The first half tells one person’s story and point of view and vice-versa.
Tumblr media
3. How to Get Away With Murder - ABC - 2014 - 10/10
LOVE this show and all of the characters. If you have not seen this one, you are really missing out. I’ve seen every season except for the fifth one. Viola Davis is awesome and completely carries the show. There is a lot of drama, murder and hook-ups.
The show takes place at a university in Philadelphia. Five law students are chosen by Annalise Keating (Davis) to intern at her law firm for the semester. Things get wild pretty quickly and the students realize they are on a wild ride, with or without their consent.
I rewatched this series a couple months ago. It has been at least two years since I’ve seen it and the only thing that annoyed me the second time around were the constant flashbacks. They usually happen at the beginning of the series and when they cut back after commercials. They’re really dramatic.
Series crush: Frank
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
4. Scandal - ABC - 2012 - 7/10
Both HTGAWM and Scandal are written by Shonda Rhimes. She is an absolute genius. The shows are kind of similar in terms of suspense and drama, but have a totally different story line.
Olivia Pope used to work for the President of the United States as a publicist but now owns her own crisis-management firm in D.C. She has many run ins with the White house and many people from her past. There is a lot of drama and crime. This series also has a ton of annoying flashbacks. There are seven seasons, but I got bored and stopped watching after four. It is really good up until then before it becomes mundane.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
5. Gossip Girl - 2007 - 8/10
I will admit I am a little late in the game for this one. I do remember trying to watch it in high school but not getting into it at all. I watched the entire series in a couple months while getting ready in the mornings and before bed. I’m sort of kicking myself now and wish I did watch it in high school. It probably would’ve given me more self confidence and learn how to handle asshole bullies at school. I thought my high school was bad. This show is a whole other level. Maybe my school was like this and I had no idea. It’s a great series to put on as background noise. You don’t have to pay too much attention honestly. There’s so much drama happening throughout that you will be able to watch any episode and follow along. Perfect for my attention span!
I have to give this one an 8/10. Everyone watched this show in middle and high school. It’s a staple in 2000’s TV history.
Series crush: Chuck Bass and his 3-piece suits. I really have a thing for men in 3 piece suits with a pensive look on their face (Peaky Blinders!!!!).

10: A Star Is Born
One of the best movies I have seen in theaters! Note, I don’t go to the movies that often. I’ve only gone about 3/4 times this year. I usually only go for features like this one and let the tell you, it did not disappoint.
PREMISE: “A musician helps a young singer find fame, even as age and alcoholism send his own career into a downward spiral.” (2018, IMDb).
GENRE: Drama, Romance
RELEASE DATE: 2018
PRODUCER/DIRECTOR: Bradley Cooper
ACTORS/CHARACTERS:
Lady Gaga
Bradley Cooper
Sam Elliott
Dave Chapelle
Anthony Ramos
ASSESMENT/EVALUTAION:
This movie is amazing. I never heard anything about it before I saw it and I had no idea there were other versions made prior. I am a huge fan of Bradley Cooper and Lady Gaga - they had great chemistry throughout the entire film.
It was refreshing to see Lady Gaga in a role like this one. I can only picture her in another role and it is the one from American Horror Story. That was such a weird season, I stopped watching after the first couple episodes.
Without giving away too much, my favorite part of the movie is when Jackson shows up in Ally’s bedroom after spending a night together. It was adorable and made my heart melt.
It was really tough watching Bradley’s character struggle with alcoholism. It is amazing watching Ally’s career flourish, but you feel awful watching Jackson fight his disease.
I really don’t want to ruin the ending, so I am going to stop here. It is such a cute movie and if you are an emotional person, bring a box of tissues.
The ending of this movie has earned a spot on my “Things That Still Have Me Shook” list.
RATING: 10/10

9: Maniac
For the last few months I have been avoiding Netflix because I found myself flipping through what seemed like every title and never finding anything appealing. I have been testing the waters every couple weeks trying to find a new show. I saw advertisements for this series and figured I’d give it a shot.
PREMISE: “Two strangers are drawn to a mysterious pharmaceutical trial that will, they're assured, with no complications or side-effects whatsoever, solve all of their problems, permanently. Things do not go as planned (2018, IMDb).
GENRE: Comedy, Drama, Sci-Fi
RELEASE DATE: 2018
PRODUCER/DIRECTOR: Cary Joji Fukunaga, Patrick Somerville
ACTORS/CHARACTERS:
Jonah Hill
Emma Stone
I finished this show in a little over a week. Every night I would try and squeeze in an episode or two depending on how late I got home. I remember binge watching about 4 episodes on my day off. This show is really weird. I was honestly in and out of it but I remember the majority of it. My attention span was a little spotty.
Owen (Jonah Hill) and Annie (Emma Stone) meet during a pharmaceutical trial. I read that it was only 3 days long and honestly I wouldn’t have known that unless I looked it up. So much happened in the series that I couldn’t tell how long it took place.
There are 3 phases of pills and during each administration, the episode was about what they dreamt after taking them. I was unclear whether or not he was officially diagnosed or if it was simply speculated, but Owen has schizophrenia. Annie struggles with the relationship she had with her mother and her sister. I am unsure what year the show takes place. It has an 80’s vibe to it but also futuristic. If someone finds out let me know.
The last episode is hilarious. I personally think this is one of Jonah Hill’s best roles. That is all I am going to say. I do recommend this show if you’re looking for something new with a great cast. It is after all a “Netflix Original.”

8: The Beach
PREMISE: "Vicenarian Richard travels to Thailand and finds himself in possession of a strange map. Rumours state that it leads to a solitary beach paradise, a tropical bliss. Excited and intrigued, he sets out to find it” (2018, IMDb).
GENRE: Adventure, Drama, Romance
RELEASE DATE: 2000
PRODUCER/DIRECTOR: Danny Boyle
ACTORS/CHARACTERS:
Leonardo DiCaprio
Daniel York
Virginie Ledoyen
Guillaume Canet
Tilda Swinton
This movie is so underrated. I remember when I was really little seeing it on TV somewhere and watching bits and pieces because, Leonardo DiCaprio. I watched it again a couple years ago and was so happy I did. All I could remember was that the movie took place on a beach and there is a shark attack at some point.
Leo runs off to a remote island with a couple friends where they find a group of people who live on the island and cultivate marijuana. No one ever leaves the island except for one volunteer who goes back to the mainland for supplies every couple of months. There is another gang who also cultivates on the other side of the island. There is an agreement between the two groups - Leo’s crew can stay and keep doing what they’re doing as long as no one tells a soul that the island exists.
There are a couple hot and heavy romances, lots of weed, and betrayal. Great 90s throwback.

7: The Bling Ring
7: The Bling Ring (2013)
This movie is based on a true story and is absolutely wild. Another great film by Sofia Coppola and A24 - two of my favorites.
PREMISE: "Inspired by actual events, a group of fame-obsessed teenagers use the internet to track celebrities' whereabouts in order to rob their homes” (2018, IMDb).
GENRE: Crime, Drama
RELEASE DATE: 2013
PRODUCER/DIRECTOR: Sofia Coppola
ACTORS/CHARACTERS:
Katie Chang
Israel Broussard
Emma Watson
Taissa Farmiga
Leslie Mann
Gavin Rossdale
Claire Julien
The story is based on a Vanity Fair article written by Nancy Jo Sales called “The Suspects Wore Louboutins.” In the article, she writes about this gang of kids who rob a bunch of A-list celebrities around Los Angeles.
The main characters Marc and Rebecca - portrayed by Israel Broussard and Katie Chang - begin to break into cars and homes in their area and steal things. They haul ranges from wads of cash, jewelry, drugs and purses, to taking one of their victims cars for a joyride. They eventually start telling their friends who join in on the crimes. Their list of victims include Paris Hilton, Lindsay Lohan, Megan Fox, Audrina Patridge, Orlando Bloom and Miranda Kirr.
Paris Hilton makes a cameo and allowed Sofia Coppola to film in her real house.
Rebecca is so infatuated with Paris Hilton and Lindsay Lohan’s lifestyle that she’ll do anything to be like them. She is an absolute psychopath. The only thing I’ll give away is the following: when she was arrested and questioned by the police about the crimes, the only thing she asked was “What did Lindsay say?” Insane.
There is a scene in the film where the kids are in a club partying and Avicii’s song “Levels” (classic) is playing. But not the regular version you hear on the radio. It is super trippy.
Fun fact; two of the characters in the film are based off of Alexis Neiers and Tess Taylor. In the movie they are real sisters, but in real life Alexis’ family takes in Tess, who is a family friend. They star in their own reality TV show on E!, which I also highly recommend in conjunction to this film, called “Pretty Wild.”
The show runs for one season. On the first episode, Alexis is arrested for her involvement in one of the robberies. Real life drama. I also recommend watching her Vice interview which is about 15 minutes long. It shows her sober a few years after the show where she gives more details about her drug addiction and life behind the scenes on “Pretty Wild.”
One of my favorite actress’ of all time is Leslie Mann. She plays the role of Alex Neiers mother. You have to watch the show - she is SPOT on.

6: St. Vincent
St. Vincent is a comedy-drama I never knew I needed, until now. When I was visiting my mom a few weeks ago, I obviously decided to stay in on a Friday night and watch a movie. I stumbled upon this movie in the free section On Demand. In the past, I have made the mistake of purchasing a movie for $15 and absolutely hating it. I try not to pay for movies On Demand unless I know they are good and/or I will watch them again.
If I don’t find anything immediately appealing to me, I go back to re-watching my comfort shows. This process usually takes up to 30 min. I do love a good Bill Murray movie, especially when Melissa McCarthy co-stars, so I didn’t hesitate on this one.
PREMISE: “A young boy whose parents have just divorced finds an unlikely friend and mentor in the misanthropic, bawdy, hedonistic war veteran who lives next door” (2018, IMDb.com).
GENRE: Comedy-Drama
RELEASE DATE: 2014
PRODUCER/DIRECTOR: Theodore Melfi
ACTORS/CHARACTERS:
Bill Murray
Melissa McCarthy
Jaeden Lieberer
Naomi Watts
ASSESMENT/EVALUATION:
What I enjoyed most about this movie, was the relationship between Vincent (Bill Murray) and Oliver (Jaeden Lieberher). Murray is a retired vet and Liebeher is a middle school student. Oliver and his mother move in next door to Vincent, whom they come to find out is a very grumpy old man. The second they arrive, a tree from their property falls on his car and he demands they pay for it.
The actor who plays Oliver is one of the main characters in “IT.” I find that he usually plays very passive characters but there is always a hint of humor behind them. In this film, Oliver starts attending a new Catholic school where he is immediately bullied by this kid in his class, I think on his first day. The bully takes his wallet and his keys so when he gets home that day he asks Vincent if he can hangout with him until his mom comes home.
Vincent starts to babysit Oliver after school since his mother works long hours. Oliver’s mom is horrified by Vincent because he is not the best role model, but they make due anyways. Vincent hangs out with a prositute, drinks regularly and gambles all the time.
Murray and Oliver help one another mature throughout the film. Oliver and his mom are there for Vincent through two life changing events, despite his shitty attitude. It’s pretty funny.

5: IT (2017)
I was going to wait to write about this one, but over the weekend it happened to be on TV so I was able to watch for the 4th time. It is very fresh in my mind and continues to scare the crap out of me each time I watch.
PREMISE: “In the summer of 1989, a group of bullied kids band together to destroy a shapeshifting monster, which disguises itself as a clown and preys on the children of Derry, their small Maine town” (2018, IMDb).
GENRE: Horror, Thriller
RELEASE DATE: 2017
PRODUCER/DIRECTOR: Andy Muschietti
ACTORS/CHARACTERS:
Jaden Lieberer
Jeremy Ray Taylor
Sophis Lillis
Finn Wolfhard
Chosen Jacobs
Jack Dylan Grazer
Wyatt Oleff
Bill Skarsgård
ASSESMENT/EVALUTAION:
I never watched the original nor do I plan on it. I saw this movie in theaters for the first time when it came out. I had been out drinking beforehand so I fell asleep halfway through. The parts that I do remember were more funny than scary. My friends think I am absolutely insane but I also find the original Exorcist to be hilarious. It’s from the 70’s so the cinematography is a little older and you can kind of see what’s coming. The main character also screams out some really hilarious things at the Priest during her exorcism and I can’t help but laugh.
Anyways, since I fell asleep in theaters I had to watch it again. I couldn’t even tell you where and when this was but I ended up watching it a third time with my friend Sarah. She’s the one who only watches scary movies with me. We watched it in my apartment during the day and it was honest to god so scary. It keeps getting scarier and scarier and I can’t stop re-watching it.
I loved the entire cast. There a bunch of the kids from Stranger Things in it. My favorite character is Richie (Finn Wolfhard). That kid had some pretty dirty humor and language that really lightens up the mood. My second favorite character is Eddie (Jack Dylan Grazer). He is the smallest one, has a whole lot of issues and a psychotic mom. His encounter with Pennywise is one of my favorites.
RATING: solid 9/10

Rapid Fire - 1
Since I am a little late in the blogging game, I decided to do a rapid fire entry with 5 random movies that I feel don’t need an entire post. Quick and easy!
The Cat in the Hat (2003) - 9/10 (don’t judge me)
I secretly wanted to do a full review on The Cat in the Hat because that movie is so underrated. It was funny when it first came out. I was 11 at the time. I rewatched it a couple months ago and now, over 10 years later, it is freaking hilarious. There are so many dirty jokes and puns, I highly recommend re-watching this one as an adult and maybe 1 or 2 drinks deep.
I feel like I’m handing out 8′s and 9′s like it’s candy, but I am serious guys, this movie is a classic. The Cat in the Hat is the live-action film based on Dr. Seuss’ original children’s book. It stars Michael Myers, Alec Baldwin, Dakota Fanning and Spencer Breslin. I don’t care for the mom honestly she’s annoying.
So there are these two little kids who are at home bored out of their minds while their single mother is at work. She is dating the next-door neighbor who is a total dick (Alec Baldwin). Conrad is the bad child of the family and Sally is the perfect one. They have a babysitter who immediately falls asleep upon arrival - sounds like me - when all of a sudden this giant talking cat shows up out of nowhere.
They basically run around with this cat and end up destroying their house before their mom throws an event that evening. The cat inadvertently teaches them all these important life lesson that 11 year old me for sure dismissed at the time. Happy ending, super cute. But man, the dirty jokes. Flew right over my head. Also Mike Myers is always a good time, I don’t care what anyone says.
Disturbia (2007) - 9/10
I am pretty sure a lot of people have seen this one, if you haven’t and you love Shia LeBeof post “Even Stevens,” pre the “JUST DO IT” meme, watch this movie. I’m pretty sure this is when he peaked.
The movie also stars this girl named Sarah Roemer, who I have never seen again in my life, Carrie-Anne Moss and David Morse. It is a horror film about a serial killer.
A young troubled teen is put on house arrest following an altercation with his high school Spanish teacher. A young girl and her family move next door. He starts watching her, she finds out, they start watching other people together. He has nothing better to do. I will tell you that he racked up his moms iTunes account, she cancelled his account and then cut the cord on his TV so he couldn’t play xBox. In all fairness, he didn’t really have many other options.
The only cringey thing besides all the murder stuff, etc. is that the main characters name is Kale. Like the salad. This movie also has a great soundtrack.
Blow (2001) - 10/10
I first saw this movie in college. I was a little late in the cool movie game because I was too busy watching other BS. It is an EPIC movie. I’m not even going to get into it really because I am pretty sure everyone has seen this. If you haven’t, watch it immediately.
It stars Johnny Depp, Penelope Cruz, Ray Liotta, Jordi Molia, and Paul Reubens, among many others. The story is based on a true story that takes place in the 1970′s - theres a ton of drugs and illegal activity going on. Great recipe for any classic movie. Emma Roberts also makes an appearance.
The Butterfly Effect (2004) - 7/10
This one is super random, but I thought of it while I was brainstorming. I’m giving this one a 7/10 because I was like 12/13 years old when I first saw it. It was pretty sketchy and I was extremely confused. I do have to go back and watch this one again. It stars Ashton Kutcher and Amy Smart. A kind of rare and unexpected pair. I can’t picture Amy Smart in any other movie except for “Just Friends.” That movie deserves its own post.
Ashton Kutcher’s character basically blacks out all the time and is able to time travel. A lot of messed up things happen each time he goes back. He is able to change the past but that in turn alters the future and everything becomes a big mess. I think it was good enough that I remember the basics.

4: Peaky Blinders
As I begin to write my first series review, I started to think why should people read and/or trust my recommendations? I am an extremely blunt and honest person and I like to think I have good taste in tv and film. I also really enjoy watching and listening to stories so I figured I would give it a shot with my personal favorites. I am keeping these blogs short and simple because I like getting straight to the point and I have the attention span similar to my 5 year old nephew.
Peaky Blinders is absolutely top 5 greatest shows. I have never watched anything like this. The accents, the haircuts, the outfits - so goddamn attractive. So many things about this series completely capture my attention and leave me wanting more every time.
When this show came out on Netflix I was in my senior year of college. Everyone was watching it and a ton of guys on campus got the infamous Peaky Blinder’s haircut. I’ll put a bunch of pictures below for reference. And I can only speak for myself, but I loved every second of it.
It can be a little slow, it is after all a crime drama. Before I start drooling over this show, let me dish out the details.
PREMISE: “A gangster family epic set in 1919 Birmingham, England; centered on a gang who sew razor blades in the peaks of their caps, and their fierce boss Tommy Shelby” (2018, IMDb).
GENRE: Crime Drama
RELEASE DATE: 2013 on BBC - not sure on Netflix (2014/2015)
PRODUCER/DIRECTOR: Kate Swinden
ACTORS/CHARACTERS:
-Cillian Murphy
-Helen McCrory
-Finn Cole
-Paul Anderson
-Annabelle Wallis
-Tom Hardy - xo
-Sophie Rundle
-Joe Cole
ASSESMENT/EVALUTAION:
As I mentioned before, this show can be very slow. But when it picks up, it picks up. There is a lot of action, after all it is about gangsters. Tommy Shelby is the head of the infamous Peaky Blinders gang. There are 4 seasons so I won’t be going into too much detail.
The show takes place several months after WWI in Birmingham, England. Tommy Shelby is one of I think four or five brothers. Their Aunt Polly helps run the family business. There is a lot of criminal drama happening - there’s some witchcraft, horse races, a family owned bar and lots of fighting.
Tom Hardy also makes an appearance as the leader of a Jewish Gang. He has a very heavy accent and looks extremely smelly. You won’t recognize him at first, it’ll take you a minute. All in all, great performance.
One character that I truly admire is Michael Shelby. He appears in the second season. You get to watch him grow up in this crazy environment and eventually take on a lot of responsibility. His family really cares for him and he tried to return the favor as best as possible.
Fun fact - the actor who plays Michael is Finn Cole. His older brother in real life is named Joe Cole who plays his cousin on the series, John Shelby.
There’s a LOT of cigarette smoking and whiskey drinking.
RATING: 9/10

3: Hereditary
Ok so this movie still has me “shook” to this day. I went to see it in this grungy basement theatre in Brooklyn with my best friend over the summer. We got drunk because first off, it’s a scary movie and second we were in a literal dungeon-like basement. I can only remember the most fucked up parts. I honestly can’t even name 1 of them because I will completely ruin it. But I really don’t understand this movie. It is so screwed up, the director had to of been on some hard core drugs. Let’s just say there are birds, a car accident, fire and some creepy lady lurking on the corner of the walls in the house.
This movie is an A24 studio production - one of my favorite production houses. They always have great films.
GENRE: Horror
RELEASE DATE: 2018
PRODUCER/DIRECTOR: Ari Aster - A24
ACTORS/CHARACTERS:
-Alex Wolff
-Toni Collette
-Milly Shapiro
-Ann Dowd
-Gabriel Byrne
ASSESMENT/EVALUTAION:
This is the premise of the story as stated on A24′s website (just to jog my memory): “When Ellen, the matriarch of the Graham family, passes away, her daughter's family begins to unravel cryptic and increasingly terrifying secrets about their ancestry.”
One of the main characters is this little girl, who is scary as shit. The scariest thing about her was her disheveled haircut and her clothing. She doesn’t really talk either so that was pretty sketchy. Her brother is played by Alex Wolff, who has appeared in “My Big Fat Greek Wedding 2,” and “The Sitter.” His character is really random and terrible, weird things happen to him. Something horrible happens mid movie and I was really confused why he didn’t do anything about it or take responsibility. Please, watch this film and you will be as confused as I still am.
My best friend and I love a scary movie and I always seem to watch them with her because no one else wants to watch them with us. I usually say no to things like Insidious and anything similar to the Amittyville horror because I have permanent PSTD - I watched it when I was 12/13 years old on November 13th. Those things do not go away and you start to think about them when you’re laying in bed in the dark and that is not a fun feeling. But I can always go for a psychological thriller.
Seriously, I think about this movie at least once a week and ask myself what the hell happened? It’s really weird but this has never happened to me before. I have so many unanswered questions, and that is ok because I will not be watching it again anytime soon. Maybe in a few years.
RATING: Solid 9/10 - seriously go watch it, but have someone with you. This movie is an absolute sucker-punch.

2: To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before
Let’s be honest, I am a complete sucker for “Netflix Original Films.” I learned at my previous job that these in fact are not Netflix Originals necessarily. It has been a while so please excuse me if I make any mistakes in my explanation. Basically content is shopped, sold and purchased by different companies such as Amazon, Netflix, Hulu, etc. They are then produced and distributed exclusively on these different platforms.
I had the opportunity to witness this process a few times. My boss would find a story, read and dissect the book, then reach out to the author and purchase the rights. Once the rights were purchased, they would shop the content around to different networks. When a network would pick it up, then they would immediately go into production. It is a very long process, but probably one of the coolest things I’ve ever seen. I am grateful for having the opportunity to see some really great shows slowly come to life in pre-production.
Anyways, I came across “To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before” multiple times in the trending section while I was binge watching “Orange is the New Black” season 6. At first glance, it obviously looks like a typical teen love story. I was hesitant at first, but I finally caved once I finished OITNB.
I have to be honest, I really enjoyed the movie. I actually rewatched it a week later. Below are the details and my analysis:
GENRE: Romantic Comedy, Teen Comedy
RELEASE DATE: 2018
PRODUCER/DIRECTOR: Susan Johnson
ACTORS/CHARACTERS:
-Lana Condor
-Noah Centineo
-Janel Parrish
-Anna Cathcart
-Israel Broussard

ASSESMENT/EVALUTAION:
Let me just start off by saying in the actor section in each post, I am including my personal favorites and the people I find the most relevant in the film. There are some great actors in here who are not given enough credit or are given too much for much a small part.
I’d like to rant about Israel Broussard for a second. I feel like he is completely underrated in this movie, but he does have a smaller part in the film. I am bias in favor of him because he was one of the main actors in “The Bling Ring,” which is one of my all time favorite movies. Another movie directed and produced by Sofia Coppola. When I say smaller part, I mean he is not the lead. King Bach, a social media influencer who gained notoriety through Vine is also in the film. His name is listed before Israel on the Netflix cast and I think it has to do with social media hierarchy, which is super annoying. I believe Israel deserves to be named third or fourth.
This movie made me feel like I was 15 again. I was really weird and awkward when I was 15 so I can relate to main character, Lara Jean. Except she is really ballsy in this movie and I was a huge wimp, She is one of 3 sisters who live with their father. Their mother passed away when they were younger, so her older sister Margot acts as a motherly figure. Margot goes away to college and Lara Jean starts her junior year in high school.
Long story short: Lara Jean writes 5 letters to 5 different crushes she has had in her life. Her little sister takes the letters and mails them out. We see only 3 of the 5 recipients confront her about the letters. Insert Peter Kavinsky. Total babe. Israel Broussard plays Josh Sanderson, Margot’s ex-boyfriend who Lara Jean used to be in love with. He tries to confront her but she uses Peter as a distraction and he is completely confused by this.
I am most likely confusing you at this point, so just go watch the movie. Lara Jean and Peter stage an entire relationship and that is all I am going to tell you because I will ruin it.
I ruin a lot of shows and movies for people because I am so excited I can’t contain myself. So if you ever want to know the ending to anything just hit me up, I’ll spoil it in a second. Sometimes it’s ok because my friends admit they won’t watch the show anyways.
All in all, this was a really cute teen rom-com and I recommend it. It’s a simple love story, nothing too complex or extremely original. It was a good movie to watch by myself before bed. It was super nostalgic and made me wish I could go back to high school.

ASSESMENT/EVALUTAION:
Ok, so this movie is hands down, my favorite movie of all time. Again, I am new to this whole movie critiquing, but I am obsessed with everything about this movie. From the actors, costume designs, to the entire soundtrack. Everything in this movie is perfect to me. I believe it is a more nostalgic film above all. It is the story of Marie Antoinette’s life leading up to the French Revolution. Historically speaking, the way her life is depicted in the movie is probably nothing like the way it happened in real life. Sofia Coppola tells the story from an innocent perspective.
My first movie crush was Leonardo DiCaprio in Titanic when I was 7 years old - obviously. My first adult movie crush is Jamie Dornan. He is so beautiful, I can’t even begin to describe. You have to see this movie to truly understand how ridiculously attractive he is, especially in his military uniform.
The second best part about this movie is the incredible scenery and locations. Versailles is absolutely breathtaking. I am honestly too exhausted to do too much research, but this movie provides 2 hours of the most beautiful places in France, in my opinion. I have never been to France but when I go in the future, this will be my first and only stop. I don’t care about anything or anywhere else but Versailles.
There’s a really cool, really quick scene in the movie that features a pair of converse. You really have to pay attention to see them. Thought that was a cute touch on the production end.
Anyways, I have seen this movie literally over 150 times. When I was in high school, for about a 4 month period, I would come home and immediately watch it. I don’t know why, but I was completely fascinated by this movie and I couldn’t get enough. I highly recommend it. There are a few slow parts in the movie, especially the beginning but it picks up pretty quickly.

Welcome!
A few days ago someone said to me “if you are watching TV on your free time, you are wasting your life away.” I beg to differ - I enjoy watching TV shows and movies on my down time, especially after a long day at work, while I’m working out or getting ready for bed. Who doesn’t? This is my precious “me time.” Also, I am still figuring out what I want to do with my life, so I don’t feel like this is a waste.
I used to work for a management agency where we were submerged into the wonderful world of media and entertainment. I got to read many scripts, go to screenings and even sit in production development meetings. So my hobby of simply watching became much more complex. It is a very fascinating process and I always had a passion for film. I finally decided maybe I should expand on my knowledge and curiosity and see where it takes me.
I have a very short attention span when it comes to entertainment. If my attention isn’t captured within the first 10-15 minutes, I move onto to something else or I just fall asleep. I am very picky to say the least and always find myself watching random options on Netflix and OnDemand. Sometimes I rewatch an entire series or movie I have seen one or more times.
I decided to start this blog to push myself to write and to share my recommendations. This is completely JFF :)
Anyways, welcome to my blog and I hope you enjoy!
