Happy New Year and all the great stuff! I know, tad late but I've been incognito with getting back to work and taking some online courses, then I got really sick and yeah it hasn't been the greatest start to 2024 but Im keeping a positive attitude and outlook.

So....the US government is now coming forward with 'Alien Evidence'. I just want to note that Iam Canadian and have known for years that Aliens DO exist. They look just like us.

It's been a minute but it's been chaotic. It's fire season in BC, Canada and the whole province is dealing with fires but there are quite a few big ones that are out of control. Kelowna, B.C, Canada is pretty bad, by far the worst fire season in my 10 years living there. In 2003 (20 years ago almost to the date) there was a huge fire that burned alot of the Westside, which is where the first fire this year started. There are now three out of control fires burning around the city, one jumped the lake. I am grateful to live downtown, the fires are all around me but I don't believe it'll get that much into the city. However, with Mother Nature you never know. My heart goes out to all evacuees in the province, especially those who have lost everything 💜 A HUGE rave to all the firefighters that are working their asses off trying to get the fires under control, especially the firefighters that have come from elsewhere to help. Stay safe!

I've had some spare time lately and decided to get back into an old hobby of mine that I haven't had time to in YEARS. I decided on something simple so Im in the process of creating a website displaying graphic designs/edits of mine from the early 2000's. I also plan to include my more recent designs, drawings, collected graphics and possibly even poetry I wrote.

Today I bring you a little hack to make your home smell great. You will need the following for this:

- scented wax warmer

- your favorite (or any kind) scented washer beads (any brand will do)

If you have melted wax already in the warmer you'll want to clean that out. The method in which I get all the melted wax out works best (at least for myself). You can try it out for yourself.

First, I use a X-ACTO knife or a box cutter and slowly slice all around the edges of the wax. Then slowly slide the knife under a part of the edge you traced, so to speak. The hardend wax will slowly lift and if your lucky the entire wax will just pop out. Sometimes it'll pop out in chunks in which you would just continue to lift the hard wax with your tool of choice. Once the wax is out, use hot water to clean the wax holder. You can use a scratch pad if some wax is still present.

After the wax warmer is clean and dry, take a handful of the scented washer beads and place in the warmer before turning it on. You can adjust how much beads you put in the warmer for your own preference. Now just enjoy a fresh smelling house or room thats not over powering.

If I'm out and about and a senior either stops me or just starts random conversations, I will always make the time to chat with them and not be quick to ignore them and go about my day. I wasn't always like this, I was, sad to say, the opposite. However, with my current state of mind and experiences have really opened my eyes to the fact that this actually COULD be your last day on this earth. Doesn't matter how healthy you are, how much you exercise or how much you take care of yourself, sh!t happens!

I also realize that there are so many people in this world that are truly alone and lonely, especially seniors. Some may not have anyone or family members don't stay in touch (that is just repulsive to me), and just want that human interaction even if for a short time. It makes their day most of the time and I'm happy that I can make other people happy. Im also not heartless.

Dollar stores to myself is like kids and candy stores. They have become my main places to shop instead of over paying in department stores. Here are some of my go to dollar store items that you may even ditch the department stores for yourself!

***Side Note: depending on the dollar store items I have listed are priced as low as $1 and no more than $5***

FOOD

Today's food costs have made it almost to impossible to feed ones self/family. Dollar stores are a great resource for canned goods, spices, pasta, rice (including instant), Condiments, baking supplies, clachers and much more!

HOUSEHOLD ESSENTIALS

Food isn't the only thing that has risen in price but even everything from dishsoap to waste removal has also risen. Cleaning supplies, cleaners, paper towel, garbage bags (even scented), food storage bags (snack to freezer size), as deportment stores. Facial tissue and more can all be bought at a dollar store at a much, much lower cost, and the same brands you'll find in department stores.

PERSONAL CARE

Unfortunently, it makes me sad that not only can the majority of us cant afford to eat, but soon we want be able to afford to keep up with our hygine. Luckily, we have dollar stores. Deodorant, ear swabs, razors, Shampoo, Conditioner, body wash, body lotion, toothbrushes, tooth paste and face masks are just a few gems hiding right now at a dollar store near you!

Nowadays, especially with inflation, everything is so expensive. I honestly don't know how most can do it, especially if you receive income support (which is a joke) the entire support check is what just rent costs now. It's sad. However, being frugal and on low income I've learned a few tips over the years and I will share them in future posts.
