I don’t think the fascists will win, but they are dangerous and numerous. Don’t take this lightly.
Stay sharp, keep safe and good luck.

At 1:30 this morning, a fully loaded container ship hit the Francis Scott Key Bridge in Baltimore, MD. The bridge is gone, just gone. Up to 20 people were still on the bridge when it collapsed, but it's been confirmed that 8 people were plunged into the water. 2 have been rescued, one declined medical intervention and the other was rushed to shock trauma.
Rescue operations are being handled by the coast guard, and authorities from Baltimore City, Baltimore county, Anne Arundel county, Harford county, and Howard county.
There will be MAJOR economic impacts for the US. The Baltimore harbor is completely closed currently, as it handles up to 90% of US car imports and the vast majority of raw materials imports and exports. Trucks cannot utilize the Harbor Tunnel, and HAVE to use the bridge or go completely around the west side of the beltway. There is no other alternative for these vehicles since I95 utilizes the tunnel system. Up to 10,000 jobs or more will be impacted locally.
It's been standing my whole life, and it's just gone. My favorite bridge because the view of the city, especially at the time of night when it was struck, is so pretty. One I gladly paid the tolls on just so I could see that view. And it's just gone.

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Today, the Human Rights Campaign (HRC) — the nation’s largest lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer (LGBTQ+) civil rights organization — officially declared a state of emergency for LGBTQ+ people in the United States for the first time in its more than 40-year history, following an unprecedented and dangerous spike in anti-LGBTQ+ legislative assaults sweeping state houses this year. A new report released by HRC today — LGBTQ+ Americans Under Attack [.pdf]— details more than 75 anti-LGBTQ+ bills that have been signed into law this year alone, more than doubling last year’s number, which was previously the worst year on record.

Hi y’all. Just letting you know there won’t be any updates for a while. I live in Puerto Rico and we got hit with a hurricane that left the whole island without water and power. Thankfully I live in an area that was mostly unfazed, but many in the island have lost their lives, their homes, and much more.
I urge everyone to read up on what’s happening in the Caribbean as hurricane Fiona rolls around. It’s a devastating loss.
I’ll leave a link of a Twitter thread if you feel inclined to donate anything to PR organizations that help those in need especially in times like this. Never, ever give to a gubernamental organization since time and time again they shown how corruptly they handle those funds. You do not have to feel obligated in any way to donate, but a simple share can help so many people.
Again, I urge y’all to read up on what’s happening and to share with others. This is the reality Puerto Rico faces as a colony of the United Stated of America. It’s been five years since the passing of one of the most devastating hurricanes, and a Cat 1 hurricane was able to destroy all the “repairs” that had been done in the island. The PuertoRican people are crying for help.
If you wanna stay up to date with what’s happening, reporter David Begnaud has been reporting on everything since it’s happened. He was a huge vocal person when Maria hit and he has been an advocate for Puerto Rico for years on end. He is currently in the island reporting on the state of it.

When I ordered the Marlboro Adventure Miles Kayak, my mother asked...
"WHAT THE FUCK ARE YOU GONNA DO WITH THAT?!"
Well...I called her a little while ago and told her this was the day I needed it for.
Took a while ...but eventually these things have a purpose.
Stroke! Stroke! Stroke!

Self-Promo Sunday
Haven’t done this in a while, but after reading one of my personal favorite of my fics, I thought I’d highlight it since we’ve added so many new shipmates who may not have seen this one. This was the second fic I ever wrote and it became its own universe as ideas came to expand it. Rated T for characters in peril and a bit of bad language. If you’ve read it before, thank you! And if you haven’t, I hope you do and let me know what you think!

“Der Kampf mit dem Drachen der Not [Fighting the Dragon of Poverty / Destitution],” Simplicissimus. Vol. 37, issue 15, July 10, 1932. ---- Die Lanze der Verordnung sticht doch nur den Drachen leider nicht.
[Unfortunately, the lance of decree just doesn't pierce the dragon.]
A somewhat heroic St. George-ish Franz Von Papen tries to lance the dragon afflicting Germany with poverty, need, economic distress, and destitution, but the lance of ‘government decree’ kills only the victim, not the cause. Of course, one of the odd feelings reading old issues of Simplicissimus is that though we know von Papen as one of the gravediggers of German democracy, he is generally presented in these pages as a totally normal politician dealing with not so normal situation.
