Summary : You and carl are out for the day and decided to stop by the nearby lake for a swim. What could go wrong?

The sun was rising over Alexandria as the warm sun risin over the small community. You were making your way towards Carl's house to see if he was up and ready to hang out for the day. You and him didn't always get a day of your own, let alone off together, So you both always tried to make do with the time you had. Walking up the wooden steps, you knocked on his door a couple times and waited for a response. To your surprise, it was Carl, " Well, look at who finally decided to get up early for once " you said with a teasing tone only to earn a groan from Carl but you could already see the smile he was so trying to hide. " Let's just go already, I'd rather be shamed in private and out of ear shot of my dad " he said with a chuckle before quickly closing the door behind him.

As you walked through the semi empty roads, you both made it towards one of the wide ponds in the town. You both decided that it would be a nice place to relax at for at least a couple of hours. Resting your book bag against the tree, you both sat down and began chatting about your chores, days, and just anything that would keep you two entertained. Laughing at one of his stories, you wiped a tear from your eye, sighing to catch your breath. You looked up at him with a sly smile. " Haha... oh, you better hope I don't use this against you! " you said while Carl gave you a fake look of hurt and betrayal, letting a low gasp out as he did, holding his "heart" while shaking his head." y-you wouldn't dare! " he said before shaking his head and looking down towards the water.

Standing up, he held his hand out towards you, taking in your features as he did. " they've got a boardwalk down there. Wanna check it out? " he asked while you took his hand and stood up, following him down the small hill. You both walked alongside the boardwalk till you reached the end. The sun was setting against the water, leaving it to shimmer and glow against their skin. While you were at least lost in it's beauty you didn't realize the plan Carl had in his head till it was to late, you were cut off by a quick shove on your back and a loud "-splash!-" into the water. Reaching back to the top, you looked up at Carl with a scowl while he laughed his little white ass off. " You dick head! " You yelled at him while he bent down to help you out." I- I'm sorry, you left yourself wi- Ah! " While you grabbed his arm, you pulled him in after you. As he came up, his once fluffy brown hair was now slick and layed out on his face as he watched you laugh back at him. Quickly pushing his hands up through the water, he splashed you right in the face. You followed his actions and began splashing him back. As you two continued to play together, the rest of that afternoon was filled with nothing but laughter and passion. If only it could last forever....•°♡

So after Pete died, Ron distanced himself from almost everyone. Seeing Carl and Enid get close was horrid, but there was one person that was there for him. You. The sun hung low in the sky, casting long shadows over Alexandria as the community struggled to hold onto a sense of normalcy in a world gone mad an slowly drying away only to come back a monster. For Ron, the days seemed to blend into one another, an endless cycle of grief and numbness. Pete's death had shattered something inside him, a violent event that left him reeling him into insanity. What really didn't help this issue was how

Ron found it hard to look at Carl and Enid, their budding connection, a painful reminder of what he had lost and what he could never have. To think he had something going with her just for it all to shatter thanks to some random group. They were a symbol of life moving forward, while he felt stuck in a moment of despair. He distanced himself from almost everyone, retreating into a shell that seemed impenetrable. It didn't help that his mother was always trying to find ways to get him to talk to her. Constantly saying how she needed to cut his hair, he could see right through her like glass. She always used this as a way to talk to him, but he always ignored her intentions to talk. But their was only one exception he had, and it was you

You had arrived with Rick's group along with carl. Even though you two were close in age and spent most of this hell hole together, that never brought you guys pasted the friendzone. a new face in a community wary of outsiders. But somehow, you had found your way to Ron. It started with small gestures: a shared meal, a brief conversation, a quiet presence during the long, sleepless nights. You didn't push him to talk or to feel better; you were simply there. Everyone has lost someone special to this disease that haunts them all, including you.

One evening, as the sky turned a dusky pink, you found Ron sitting on the steps of his house, staring out into the distance, his face dead to everything but his mind. You approached quietly, sitting down beside him without a word. For a while, the two of you just sat there, the silence between you filled with unspoken understanding.

"It's hard," Ron finally said, his voice barely above a whisper. "Seeing them together. It just... hurts, it's already hard dealing with my fathers passing, but losing her to."

You nodded, your heart aching for him, sure you may have not known him like edin did, and vise versa with her and carl. Taking in some of the cool, humid air, you turned to look at him. "I get it. It's okay to feel that way. But theirs nothing we can do to change what happens now. Sure, your dad may not have been.... the greatest... at times, but i know for sure he wouldn't want you sulking over her or his death. He would want you to move on."

He looked at you then, his eyes filled with a mix of pain and sorrow. "Everyone else seems to have moved on. But I can't."

"You don't have to do it alone," you said softly. "I'm here for you. And I'll be here as long as you need me. This isn't something that will pass by fast. It takes time, Ron." You said, staring into his tired eyes." we may not have a lot of that, but at least we have it now."

Ron took a deep breath, the tightness in his chest easing just a fraction. He didn't have the words to express how much your presence meant to him, but he hoped you understood just by his tight grip around you as he pulled you into an embrace. In a world where so much had been lost, you had given him something to hold onto, even if it was something as small as words.

As the days turned into weeks and then months, Ron slowly began to let you in. There were still moments of darkness, times when the grief seemed too much to bear. But with you by his side, he found the strength to face each new day.

Together, you navigated the uncertainties of the world around you, finding solace in each other's presence . In that shared journey, Ron discovered that even in the midst of pain, there could be moments of hope and connection.

In a world that had taken so much from him, you had given him the gift of companionship, a reminder that he was not alone. And for that, he was endlessly grateful to have you by his side.
