I’ve seen many mbti-typing blogger but they were always... wrong, like, a lot. You are the first I see that really know what MBTI is. THANK-YOU!!!

Thank you very much!  I’m sure I don’t always get it as close as possible, though it is also always a matter of guessing to varying degrees with fictional characters, and I do certainly try my best.

Holiday Movies MBTI

To celebrate the holidays, Animated MBTI is giving you a post all about classic holiday favorite characters and type.  Enjoy, and Happy Holidays to everyone!

Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer--ISFP

Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer is a brave and kind hearted character.  Quiet and modest, Rudolph tries to make his father proud, but fitting in isn’t as comfortable for him.  Though hurt by the rejection, Rudolph learns to embrace his glowing red differentness and when he does, his strength is fully appreciated.

Clarisse--INFJ

Clarisse’s character is full of hope.  One of the first to see Rudolph not just as a reindeer with an odd red nose that doesn't fit in, she isn’t afraid to step away from the group either.  She is a protector, not willing to stand aside when someone she loves could be in danger.  And as she sings that “there’s always tomorrow for dreams to come true,” her quiet intuition is clearly seen.

Hermey--ENTP

The normal toy-making life won’t satisfy this elf’s unusual curiosity and interests.  A playful character who would much rather read and practice something that is interesting and challenging to him than enjoy the usual activities of his peers, Hermey decides he can fit in as a misfit and embarks on an independent journey.

Dolly--INFP

One of the misfit toys, Dolly would love to make a child smile and belong with them.  Along with the others, she continues to carry out hope every year that perhaps she will find a way to be understood and appreciated for who she is.

Frosty the Snowman--ESFP

Esmeralda--ESFP

Esmeralda is a performer.  She is always happy to take center stage, confident in her artistic skills and her power to shine in the spotlight (Se). This character is outgoing, lively, and playful.  She doesn’t always foresee the results of her actions, or at the very least she chooses to follower her heart rather than hold back from future potential outcomes (Se/Fi + inf. Ni).  Esmeralda is strong willed and she fights for what she believes in and holds on to the freedom to be herself.

I’d type Peppermint Patty as an ESTP.  She’s outgoing, adventurous, tomboyish, playful, and fairy down to earth.  She will definitely be in the ESTP chart when that comes out!

Is this blog still active? You haven't posted in so long, I miss your insight!

It is … and hasn’t been, lol!!  My apologies though, I do mean to get back to it. This last semester (which just ended this morning, hurray!) was great but long and intense, and I pretty much let the blog go during that time.  

I really appreciate your asking, and thank you, I’m so happy you’ve enjoyed my posts in the past!  I will hopefully be adding new content before long:).

Hans--ENFJ

“As thirteenth in line in my own kingdom, I didn't stand a chance. I knew I'd have to marry into the throne somewhere.”

Dominant Fe: Hans has an extremely high intelligence around others’ emotions and the general social standards of places.  He uses this trait to his advantage in a very manipulative way, and he is a good example of an unhealthy ENFJ in general.  One of the best examples of his use of Fe is shown with his pursuit of Anna.  Firstly, he is quick to recognize that Elsa won’t be so easily reachable, and he sees well Anna’s romantic personality and longing for a change of scenery and an adventure.  He then molds his own character and actions to best reflect what she wants to see and effectively influences her in this way.

Auxiliary Ni: A strong internal vision is what Hans unwaveringly pursues in his manipulative and unhealthy manner.  Hans wants to have the thrown more than anything, and so he carefully and elaborately plans everything around this goal. With the Fe-Ni combination, Hans is very intuitively perceptive of social situations and others’ emotions and desires.  As can often be the case with somewhat less healthy Ni, Hans is very stuck in his ways in a future oriented way, staying too unwaveringly tied to his internal visions for his own or others’ good.

Tertiary Se: This character seems to have a good sense of filling expected appearances.  When Hans gives Anna the romantic evening she had dreamed of, his extraverted sensing, as well as his dominant extraverted feeling, is evident.  He clearly has a good sense of the aesthetic in this scene, naturally comfortable with using the environment to his advantage as well.

Inferior Ti: Hans does rely somewhat on his internal logic, but it isn’t very strong compared to his mainly social goals and thinking.  He can lose sight of some of that logic in favor of Fe and Ni, relying heavily on his social and emotional intuitiveness and his tenaciously pursued visions in that area.

hello! so for the longest time i've been confused as to deciding whether im an INTP or an INTJ. most of the quizzes i took said im an INTP but i strongly relate to INTJ as well! i was thinking, maybe you could help by identifying INTP and INTJ characters? that way maybe i can decide in which character i see myself the most. thank you!💖

To pick some characters that really stand out from those two types:

INTP: Hiccup from How To Train Your Dragon–definitely my favorite example of an INTP in animation.  He stays very true to character through both the movies as well, a solid INTP!  Alice from Alice in Wonderland is also a good example, though not perhaps as three-dimensional as Hiccup.  And Hiro from Big Hero 6 is a good INTP too!

INTJ: Hank from Finding Dory is a good example.  There’s also Gru from the Despicable Me movies, and Anton Ego from Ratatouille.  For a great example of an INTJ, though not an animated character, is Mr. Darcy from Jane Austen’s Pride and Prejudice.

Be sure to check out the cognitive functions in depth as well for typing!  The functions of these two types are opposites in many ways–while INTJ has Ni-Te-Fi-Se, INTP has Ti-Ne-Si-Fe.  This is an excellent description of INTP that also goes in depth into the functions, and from the same website you can also find an equally insightful description of INTJ: https://personalityjunkie.com/the-intp/

Wreck-It Ralph MBTI

Wreck-It Ralph -- ISFJ

“Because if that little kid likes me, how bad can I be?”

For thirty years, Wreck-It Ralph dutifully plays his role and supports his game.  He isn't happy being the “bad guy,” but even through all that time, Ralph quietly accepts this role.  He longs to be accepted in the group and to be seen as less of a negative character, showing strong Fe (extraverted feeling) motivations.  Even though being the wrecker doesn’t feel to him like what he really wants, he’s more concerned with maintaining the harmony of the game than chasing his own dream regardless (Fe), and he sticks to what he knows (Si).  Ralph’s decisions and actions are often based on wanting to improve others’ situations or keep them safe, such as when he destroys his friend’s car despite terribly not wanting to do it or hurt her because he believes at the time it’s the best for her (Fe).  Ralph’s adventure and growth of character throughout the movie reflects a growth of his inferior function, Ne (extraverted intuition); he begins to branch off from what he has always felt he had to do and the way things were, seeking new meaning outside of what he is used to and seeking many diverse possibilities.  In the end, he is more than happy to re-adopt a more side-line role, at least in terms of being the classic hero.  He’s a generally withdrawn and deeply caring character who is happiest when he’s supporting the happiness of others.

Vanellope von Schweetz -- ESTP

“You could stay. You could have your own castle, where you can wreck and stink as much as you want, and no one would ever treat you badly ever again.”

Vanellope is spontaneous, outgoing, and sweetly quirky.  She’s not a rule-follower, loving the thrill of the moment much more.  The dropping of her classic princess role in favor of something more fun and practical, as well as her unrestrained, free, and fun use of her leading role, show both Se (extraverted sensing) and Ti (introverted intuition) in her freedom and her strong sense of her own logic.  Vanellope also shows Fe (extraverted feeling) in the way she often naturally puts group harmony above that of her self internally.  A bit of a tomboy, Vanellope has a quirky and good sense of humor and she doesn’t shy away from saying whatever’s on her mind.  She has a strong sense of her physical presence and surroundings, naturally engaging well in fast-passed situations in her environment (Se).  She is a brave and loving character.

Fix-It Felix -- ESFJ

“Why do I fix EVERYTHING I touch?”

Fix-It Felix is quite aware of the social environment of the game.  Above all, and fittingly with his role in his game, Felix’s biggest priority is to keep everyone happy and people’s lives running smoothly, fixing damage wherever he can to heal the harmony of the group.  Sometimes though, his dominant Fe is perhaps too strong in comparison with his inferior Ti, and he misses some perhaps more reasonable opportunities in favor of maintaining the social atmosphere the way it is and he feels it should be (also a sign of Si).  Felix is a very kind-hearted character, and even though sometimes he can get stuck in the same way of thinking, especially when it comes to the group, he happily does whatever he can to rebuild any situation when he sees the opportunity.

Sergeant Calhoun -- ESTJ

“Flattery don't charge these batteries, civilian.”

Sergeant Calhoun definitely is a “dynamite gal,” with a commanding, sometimes explosive and fear-inducing, personality.  Her motives and actions are heavily motivated by her past feelings and experiences (Si); this, of course, can often be simply situational and not personality related with such traumatic event, but with Calhoun, we see many of her thoughts automatically referencing past ones as a high cognitive function.  She may have a strong and even hard exterior, but she’s defiantly got a soft spot too, even if she doesn’t always reveal it.  More naturally, she presents herself as very confident and in charge, and her first way of dealing with a situation is typically through external reason and organization (Te).

King Candy -- ENTJ

“Is that a threat I smell? Whooo... beyond the halitosis you so obviously suffer from!”

King Candy has done quite some elaborate planning and organizing to reach his long envisioned goal (Te-Ni).  Most of all, King Candy likes to be in control of a situation, to know that events and people are following his logic and planning.  Not the healthiest example of an ENTJ, he won't let anything get in the way of his envisioned future (Ni), and with overly strong dominant Te, he is easily infuriated when things do not go as he planned or when anyone crosses his reasoning.  In the end of course, his unhealthy inability to let go of his goal is also what ends up stopping him altogether.  He is quite talented in manipulating the running of things and the coding logic of the game to put his visions into reality.
