A Date Sim?!?! by Kershy (LCF Fic Rec)

SUMMARY One evening Kim Rok Soo read 5 volumes of the novel “The birth of Hero”. This novel hit all of his critical points, immediately enchanting him. Hence, reading 5 volumes at once. He decided to take a break and read theories about the character he liked, Cale Henituse. While he was a minor villain in the prologue, Kim Rok Soo liked him for some reason. However, there was nothing online, no evidence at all of this novel’s existence. After going so far as to the 7th page of the search request, he found an obscure diary with a visual novel, inspired by books. Kim Rok Soo liked manhwa editions of his beloved novels, so the kinetic visual novel sounded interesting too. Kim Rok Soo didn’t even care about the suspicious source of the game. He just wanted to see this novel visualized (or, more like his favourite character). However, he fell asleep during the download. And when he woke up… Oh, well. Or I woke up in a date-sim as my favourite minor villain?! To hell love interests! I’m going to turn it into an investigation puzzle and uncover the mystery of my beloved character!

i find this really cool

basically its LCF except theres a SYSTEM (its actually really really cool), it is following the main story (so no school au) however there are also plenty of non-canon things

and krs is investigating a bit more on what happened to the og (i have reason to believe its different then what happened in canon)

the work skin html stuff i dont remember what you refer to it as but i mean im hoping you understand, its REALLY cool and theres a LOT of unique types so its not just a repeat of one window doing everything

also everyone BUT krs!cale has a dialogue window so like every time they talk a dialogue window will appear for them

some of them are shared, im sure its probably because of so and so reason of why theyre being grouped but listen i have a brain doesnt mean i use it

anyway so its like a date sim kind of thing except its also partly choose your own adventure as you can make your own choices of what you want cale to do (so you can 100% do one where you dont romance any character, though its recommended to read through all options as it'll show different sides of cale)

Thoughts:

Together, they have three kids, two houses, and an average life expectancy of four years. Eruhaben had never imagined himself part of such a warm family, but he'd been drawn in so easily. Cale just has that effect on people, he supposes. Or Eruhaben and Cale are dying together, but before that, they're trying their best to live what little life they have left.

Fuckkkk this fic gutted me in all of the best ways. It's a fanfic dealing with terminal illness, but not in a way I've really read anywhere else.

It's less off a fic where you're crying at everything, where all you can feel is the clock ticking and just wondering when the chime is gonna strike. It's more like... a celebration of what they have.

Moment's between the two and the children. Seeing them both acknowledge they have so little time with each-other and their family yet still choosing to keep it together, and shit, when it is time to leave?

It's as heartbreaking as you can imagine. I understand why Cale choose to do what he did with the kids, but the scene with Ohn clutching the notebook that explained everything made me SOB

It's just amazingly written with a wonderful pacing that allows you to glimpse into the life they lived and what happens afterwards.

The last paragraph was a balm to my soul.

I really really love the ideas the Author has written about! When they write Cale (and it's not a crack bit lol) IT'S GREAT!! His inability to realize his own body's needs and feelings, putting others first despite being visibly wounded AND UGGG ALL THE SCENE'S WITH HIM AND THE KIDSSSS!!

Here are some of my fave chapters!!!! It was so hard to not just name most of the chapters lol

"service worker!au + miscommunication" KRS is a service worker who has a few regulars come by (Choi Han, Rosalyn and Alberu) and though a series of misfortune words and phrases KRS thinks they've been picking on him for the last few years This all comes to light right as he's about to move away, and Alberu goes into shock once he realizes what's happened all these years. (Crack one-shot) "Dreams" Cale dreams about his life with LSH and CJS, the memories bring back past pains and losses yet he's unable to cry for them. Why? Why can't he spare more then a few tears for his past family? It's only when Raon has a nightmare does he snap out of it, and a the words that comes out of the baby dragons mouth makes everything melt away. (Slight-Angst + Fluff) "Grandma Kim and Kim Rok Soo" Grandma Kim was feeling tired and weary after healing Park Jin Tae when Kim Rok Soo visits her, head bleeding. She tries to heal the poor boy but he refuses, saying that it should be used on someone else. Their disagreement gets sidelined when Lee Jin Joo runs in sobbing and her brother isn't with her. (Hurt & Comfort + THE FEELSSSS)

Choi Han, for a test from a god, is sent to an unknown land with "Cale."

Choi Han, upon arrival, realizes something is strange about this Cale. He's got a similar appearance to his own Cale but the eyes are sharper, with a witty bite to his tongue and a quick sneer always at the ready.

He's clearly confused and distressed about being in a strange place with a strange person but he does his best to not let it show. His hand reaches for a bottle of alcohol that isn't there.

Choi Han thinks that this Cale isn't like his Cale at all.

Choi Han has a hunch that this Cale is the one from before Kim Rok Soo's possession. It makes sense. So he isn't his Cale.

However, though Choi Han wants to become cold to this stranger version of Cale, when he looks into those red-brown eyes and sees fear, he draws back. It's an instinctual feeling that he gets, right as Cale is spitting more vile words to cover up the trembling in his hands, that he doesn't want to see even a terrible Cale be afraid of him.

This doesn't stop them from arguing. Through towns, forests, deserts, they both learn on an intimate level that they would never, ever get along. Cale is too loud, too threatening, and Choi Han can't resist from debating with this strange Cale about morals, of all things. They argue constantly.

Though they argue, Choi Han can't help himself from sometimes mistaking this Cale for his own. He tells himself it's because they look alike.

They're both in the midst of an argument when a noble-like individual approaches them with cloying words, which seek to lure them inside of the noble's home. Choi Han is suspicious, but before he has the chance to decline, Cale steps in front of Choi Han and demands to speak to the noble who wants to see them.

The noble-like individual turns out to be the servant of a more powerful man, something that Cale saw through immediately.

Choi Han is stunned.

How did this, this trashy Cale with no moral upstanding, clock the intentions of a person so quickly and accurately?

He asks him directly. Cale shrugs. Choi Han believes he's mistaken when Cale's eyes flicker with calculating intent. They don't discuss it further.

Little moments like these keep occurring. Cale does something impressive, Choi Han inquires, and Cale downplays it with a sneer or an insult and refuses to speak about it again. It's weird and strange but it's familiar. Extremely so. Not the insulting, and the sneer is too odd to be his own Cale's face, but it's familiar in the sense that they both underestimate themselves. They both refuse to acknowledge what lies under the surface of their visage.

This Cale is a strange individual. He swears and laughs and grins, he's too calm about their situation, and it's difficult to get through to him when he makes up his mind about something. But the strangest thing is that all of these things remind Choi Han of his Cale.

Finally, it all comes down to a final battle. One more fight and both himself and this Cale can go back to where they belong. Choi Han is ready.

Cale receives a power from a book before the battle and it's unlike anything Choi Han has ever seen. But the coughing up of blood makes him have Cale swear to never use it. Cale swears.

Choi Han makes Cale promise to stay on the sideline and not approach. Cale easily agrees.

They get to the last stage, the last time they'll see each other again, and the villain of this world is too powerful. It's as if he weren't meant for them to fight. It's as if he were made so that they struggle.

Choi Han swings his blade to block a blow that he knows he can't block, knows might end him, and he thinks about how he can't possibly die right now and leave this Cale behind... but he's too weak.

He wonders what his Cale would do in this moment, when everything seems hopeless and nothing is working.

Cale steps in front of him and uses his power to its fullest extent.

White light is shining everywhere, blinding Choi Han who keeps his burning eyes open, desperately keeps his eyes on the Cale that's bleeding from his mouth and his nose and his eyes and his skin is starting to crack, crack like he is about to turn into dust and disappear.

Cale turns to look at Choi Han.

"Ah. I was worried it wouldn't be enough to take out the villain." His eyes stained with blood curl up in a smile. A ball of dread sits in Choi Han's stomach. "I'm glad. I'm really, really..." eyes drifting closed, his body begins to shatter further and further. "Happy for you, Choi Han."

This is why they felt familiar.

It's with a cry of grief and anger, anger at himself, that Choi Han reaches out to hold Cale, hold onto even a piece of him.

Cale's eye, the only one left as he is disintegrating, widens.

Choi Han grasps a fragment that's about to vanish from Cale's chest, somewhere next to his heart, and this piece doesn't break, doesn't disappear from Choi Han's hand. It stays solid and firm and real-

And it's all that Choi Han is left with when the gods test ends.

Choi Han wakes up, surrounded by his family, with a red, glass marble in his hand. He holds it to his chest. It hurts.

It hurts.

Third Time's the Charm

Thoughts:

Commander Choi Han along with his battle-worn allies is one month away from facing off against what seems to be the most powerful of the summoned demonic beasts in Puzzle City. They hope this will change the tide of their war against the White Star that has already dragged on for twenty years. Cale Henituse, formerly Kim Rok Soo, has had enough of being transmigrated against his will. Does the God of Death really not have any other methods of solving problems? Whatever, at least his kids and his self-declared knight are here to help him out.

I think, personally, this is one of the top "TCF goes to TBOAH" fics in terms of characterization. The author really nailed Cale's internal thoughts, the way he "rationalizes" his nice gestures as trying to stop anything annoying happenings, or saying it's for his own benefits, the fact he doesn't take to heart a specific scene of them pushing too much cuz he knows how desperate they are, it's just all really well done!

Cale isn't the only one portrayed really well! TBOAH!Choi Han isn't some angsty man who's a complete dick who lashes out and thinks with his firsts first. He's still Choi Han at his core, a kind person who's had his family taken away a second time so he copes by fiercely protecting his new family and being paranoid.

While he is wary of this new Cale and his counterpart, and does attack them, he doesn't try mauling their throats out 24/7 and actually understands why that Choi Han is different then he is. How at their core they would do anything for their family, and doesn't hold it against him when TCF!Choi Han is being angry towards them for upsetting Cale. (even though Cale would never call it that lol)

I also enjoy how they handle the Ancient Powers in this world and who Cale chooses to give them too. They all have a connection with their new power, mirroring their past experiences and how they choose to protect their loved ones.

It's just really fucking solid and I highly recommend a read!!

Y'all... I'm so so weak to KRS and OG!Cale angst, especially when they have to rely on each other and WHOO BOY does this fic scratch that itch! I'd even argue it gouaches out that itch.

I finished this fic in a tear filled haze and I don't even want to spoil ANYTHING for this fic cuz it leaves you guessing, worried and on the verge of your seat!

When a new criminal gang flees Bludhaven, they think they've managed to escape both the police and Nightwing. But they just managed to piss off Dick Grayson and when Dick Grayson is pissed, he doesn't go out as Nightwing - he picks up a contract as Renegade.

This is a really awesome fic that really explores the idea a Dick Grayson who's chosen his own path and where to draw his own line.

After leaving Batman and after experiencing the thing he has, he's broken out of Bruce's black and white world into his own grey one.

I also love his and Wally's relationship in this even if it's only a small part of this fic. I've always adored seeing people write BirdFlash as a ride or die and Wally really is that! Actually let out a chuckle at the thought of Wally and the others meeting up for coffee like "Okay guys! Welcome to the annual "What's Dicks alibi"" lmaoo

Also just really like seeing Dick finding comfort in sex with someone he trusts! I feel like this isn't something that is shown a lot and how someone who has experienced assault can still find comfort in sexual acts, epically with those they hold close!

Also who else gets a kick out of Renegade!Dick working with Slade, even with their fucky-ass relationship. Those two mix as well as water and oil, but when the time comes they work better then any machine and I really feel like this fic shows how much of an amazing team they are! (The scene of them taking out the cameras yet broadcasting it out to news networks? Uggg amazing, it's like Dick is choosing to make them a statement and EVERYBODY better fucking listen)

I also really liked how we followed the P.O.Vs of the police, outsiders. It's just so much funner watching as they try to grapple with what is going on, not knowing anything as Renegade and Deathstroke basically run the place! Also watching as they basically shit their pants going "omg omg we're so fucking dead-" haha!!

UGG AND THE GUN PLACEMENT IS SO COOL AND SMART! OFC HE WOULD USE DIFFERENT GUNS! HE WOULD NEVER RISK ONE ACCIDENTALLY GOING OFF AND KILLING AN INNOCENT!

"Dick often clung too hard, but he let the person go every single time. Slade had privately called it self-defense but never to Dick’s face because it would just upset him."

I would be so happy to read hundreds of fics surrounding Slade and Dick killing rapists or murderers. This fic makes me CRAVE for it!!!

Dami and Dicks relationship at the end?? chef kiss adore it, Dick has so much confidence and trust in his kid. I love how they talk to each other and the fact Dick really tries not to make the same mistakes as Bruce once did! It's just amazing all around!

“the warmth’s returning” is a series of short fics set in my own version of a Talon AU, which all should be enjoyable on their own as oneshots but are part of a larger whole.

I started reading this series through it's fifth installment "like a wave upon a rock" and HOO BOY DID I PICK A PLACE TO START!

I really like how this series handles Dick's past as a Talon, really showing him healing and slowly opening up not only through Dick's P.O.V but also through Bruce's!

The first fic in this series "you were destined to be sent here by the moon" (also, amazing tittles as well!) shows Bruce really being out of his depth, not really saying the right things but trying his best, loving this small child he picked up because he couldn't just leave him there! Bruce always going "you're safe here", and apologizing when he realized he over looked something or messed up. Him going "how can I make you feel better" just UGG THE COMMUNICATION!

There's so many small scenes in the first installment of Bruce learning about Dick, about the small boy hidden inside, through observing is great! He doesn't push him into doing things, he looks towards Dickies reactions about how he feels because he's unable to communicate properly. His face may be stoic to others, but Bruce learns to read him like a book, learns how his eyes shine at animals and fluffy blankets, learns how he likes to feel warm and to be held. It's so cute and makes my heart clench <3

The BirdFlash stuff come in a bit later (also amazing) but if you just want from awesome BatFam stuff there is an abundance of that too!

Uhfoshdoasfj THIS IS SO GOOD Y'ALL Hannibals scent being Pomegranates is my favorite fucking thing now I need MORE of it!!!!

It's like Will is his Persephone, and by finally caving and seeking comfort in Hannibals scent does he and Hannibal become tied together forever.

There's a lot more Greek references in this but read it yourself to find out ;) (other then the pomegranates one, my other fave would have to be Will being compared to Atlas after Hannibal asks if he trusts him) AND THIS PASSAGE TOO!

"Endless turmoil swirled in the infinite pools of blue of his irises and the expanse of his pupils. Will was a ship without a captain and direction, but Hannibal was his lighthouse, ready to guide him to shore."

I already said so in the comments, but the fact Hannibal has FINALLY become a light in Will's life that drives away the darkness, rather then allow it to swallow him whole is something I ADORE!!

As someone who knows very little about Supernatural (watched like... 2 seasons over 5 years ago lmao) I could still understand alot of this :D I love the quiet comfort Dean and Will had when they where younger, especially Will's reaction to what happened him rubbing Deans back as he cries, just like his own mama comforted him when he was young.

Also they really do feel like friends y'know?

Especially Dean being very accepting towards Will's empathy and going "I'm not gonna judge you for talking like him, that's just apart of your whole thing"

Go to archiveofourown.org and open the fic you want to download.

At the top right corner, to the right of the 'subscribe' button, is a button that says 'download'. Click it.

A drop-down menu will give you the option to choose the format of your download. Choose your preferred format (.epub and .pdf are my personal favorites -- .epub lets you open a fic in the apple books app and .pdf is compatible with like every device and program out there).

When you click the button for your preferred format, a pop-up window appears confirming your choices. The title of the document will default to the title of the fic, so be aware of that and consider changing conspicuous titles to something ignorable, especially if you share the computer.

"This was his house. This was his home, before he went away. He was laying on the rug of his living room, white ceiling, light blue walls, white furniture that he never changed. This was his world, and for a second, all air left his lungs. All the clan members looked at him, expecting some kind of reaction, but Eiden was frozen, unable to make sense to it. He was back, with all of them. He was back."

So.... *Hysterically starts crying* MAN THIS FUCKS W/ UR HEART!

Eiden's spirals so hard in this fic, and MAN does it pack a punch. You just see how much it pains him to be back in his original universe, how much he tries so hard to look out for everyone else and when he starts to "fall behind" he falls deeper into this pit of self-loathing, depression and anxiety.

It's very sweet to see how everyone just knows that Eiden isn't okay, how even when he tries to shut everyone out... they just quietly wait by the door of his close off heart and hope he let's them back in.

There's moments with all the members, how they comfort him, how they all have their own unique moment and how the all adapt to their new environment.

But what I love the most is that they don't force him, Kuya pushes him sure, but he never goes too far. They all care way to much, and when he say's "I can't" they just smile, to let him know they understand and that they'll wait until he can.

ALSO THE LAST CHAPTER W/ THE BOYFRIENDS BIT IS SO CUTE IT HEALED THE WOUNDS READING THIS LEFT BEHIND!!! AH-

I love watching him have to come to terms with Kaitos inability to leave Shinichi alone, through climbing through their window and dragging kidnapping him randomly. Life with living with Kudo Shinichi really isn't boring.

(I also just love reading anything with outsiders POV, it's one of my fave tropes!!)

Strolling down the empty streets at night after floundering on alcohol, causing chaos through the bar was a red head boy. He walked silently through the streets, but then, he saw a light illuminating from a narrow alley way. ... A Baby?! Wait... Three babies?!

This is a fun read! I love seeing more OG!Cale love, I love seeing the Trio of KRS, LSH, and CJS having a new life together and deciding that no one get's to fuck with their new parent.

Cute moments of seeing Cales walls being torn down cuz of the babies, along with some angst of Cale trying to be a new parent, making mistakes and really wondering if he was the best choice.
