For the prompts that have not been claimed yet, I've added alternative ones, maybe one of them tickles your creativity?

But there can be more than one entry for the same prompt. The more, the merrier!

No time to create something new? Not a problem! You can also share an old work of yours or recommend somebody else's work! Any form of fanwork (except AI) is welcome as long as it fits the spirit of the season.

The overall goal of the event is to have at least one entry for every day that other people can enjoy during Yuletide as their daily dose of The Witcher.

What can you share? Fics, Poems, Art, Edits, Recipes, Mood boards, whatever you like! It should fit the prompt and the season and must be related to The Witcher somehow.

Do I have to create something new? - No! You can also share an old work of yours or recommend somebody else's work. The only thing that's not allowed is AI created stuff.

How do I claim a prompt? - Please send me a message to let me know which prompt(s) you'd like to share something for until 30th November.

Is NSFW allowed? - Yes! Just tag it properly, please.

Are modern AUs and crossovers allowed? - Yes, definitely!

I missed the deadline to claim a prompt. Can I still participate? - Yes, no problem! Just post before the day of the prompt and tag me so that I can share it. The claiming is just so that I can see which days have not been claimed and can find something to share myself.

Can I combine this event with other events? - Yes! As long as the other event allows it, combine as much as you like. For example there's @fluff-cember, @whumpcember, @hurtcember, @12daysofchristmas or maybe you have a bingo card that is not done yet.

Can I combine different days of the event? - No, not really as each entry is for one specific day only. If you want to write a single fic for several prompts, it will work only if the prompts are used in different chapters and in chronological order.

Can I be a completionist? - If you want to share something for every day, that's awesome and then you're definitely a completionist! But it's also great if you share something for just one day.

Summary: Sam and Dean enter a somewhat peculiar shop. Later in the evening there are unexpected consequences.

Excerpt from Chapter 6: Something wicked in the water of A Magical Game

"Cahir!"

Milva comes crashing through the thicket of birch and willow trees and bushes. Thanks to Melitele, her friend is alive, but on his knees, the blade of his sword dripping with blood. Blood is gushing from his nose and he is clutching his left hand to his chest. There is blood all over Cahir's clothes, lots of it, but no monster or enemy in sight.

"There— there's something in the water," he pants through gritted teeth and, shakily, struggles to his feet, his vision swimming. Milva rushes to his side.

"Let me see," she says and grips his left arm. Cahir groans, going white in the face.

"Shit!" Milva curses. His hand is a bloody mess, the ring and little finger missing.

"We— we need to leave," he wheezes. "It might come back."

"What was it?" Milva asks while ripping a piece of cloth from the sleeve of her blouse and pressing it onto the injury. Cahir suppresses another groan, going even paler under all the blood in his face.

"Looks like a giant spider or something," Dean says, swinging what appears to be the lower part of an arthropod's leg in the air, only that it is not a few centimetres long, but more than a metre, and thicker than a man's thigh.

Milva's eyes widen. Cahir is right, they should run. Judging by the size of the monster's severed limb, it must be enormous indeed. Definitely not a creature she has any desire of meeting.

"Think you can make it to camp, Cahir?" she asks.

He nods. Not a good idea after having been hit in the face by a nightmarishly huge monster spider with a carapace harder than any knight's armour. A wave of nausea washes over him, his legs turning to jelly. Milva quickly grabs her companion around the waist to keep him from collapsing.

"Fuck. Don't you faint on me!" she swears, warm blood dripping down the side of her neck and into the neckline of her blouse from Cahir's nose as he leans heavily against her. 

Having spotted something else between the trampled sedges and rushes, Dean lets go of the giant spider leg, bends down, picks whatever it is up and puts it in the breast pocket of his checkered shirt. Then he hurries over to help Milva manoeuvre Cahir further away from the water's edge and toward an old ash tree. With a low groan, the injured man slumps down against the tree trunk, his face ashen in the falling twilight of the evening.

Dean reaches inside his pants pockets that are always stuffed with the most essential things to survive whatever catastrophe, and fishes out a hip flask filled with cask strength whiskey, a Swiss pocket knife, and a roll of duct tape.

sequel to the first ficlet I wrote for @witchermonstermayhem's Yuletide Calendar 2024

Winter in Toussaint was never particularly cold, and Regis would not have minded or even noticed if it had been. But he did love the few genuinely cold days in midwinter when there was frost on the meadows that lasted through the day, and maybe even snow.

Today was one of these days, with big fluffy flakes that floated to the ground and muffled every sound. Already, the vineyard was covered in a white blanket, and the colourful houses of Corvo seemed even brighter against the snow.

Regis watched Geralt walk around the grounds with B.B., checking on things and discussing repairs to be made once the weather turned warm again. B.B. was wrapped up in warm clothes, a shawl and a hat - as a lifelong inhabitant of Toussaint, this was deepest winter for him. Geralt merely wore a jacket over his clothes, but he was sporting the green fingerless gloves Regis had knitted. Being sat on had left no permanent scars on them.

When Geralt headed up the stairs to the main house, Regis went inside to collect a pot of tea and some of Marlene's anise cookies. He carried it all upstairs, hearing Geralt rummaging around in his chest in the bedroom while he arranged the tea pot and cups on the table. It had grown into a habit, meeting to drink tea or wine in the summer and chatting about their day. After having been away for weeks, Regis was looking forward to it. He did not travel often any more, but he still had friends all over the Continent and made a point out of going to see them regularly.

Geralt brought with him the scent of snow and winter, and of sheep and coffee. He cast a glance at the seat of his chair, and when it was free of knitwear, he sat down and held out a package to Regis, wrapped in burlap and tied with twine.

"I made something for you." There was a shyness to his smile that Regis didn't often see, and he found it as endearing as he found the package intriguing.

"Oh?" He untied the twine while Geralt poured the tea and picked up a first cookie, fitting it into his mouth whole. Even with plenty to eat in the house at all times, Regis had noticed Geralt fell back into his Witcher days eating habits when he was stressed, or nervous, or simply distracted: ravenous and fast.

The burlap fell open and revealed a knitted scarf, the wool a grey so dark is almost seemed purple. It was soft and broad, long enough to reach down to Regis' thighs if he simply wore it around his neck.

"I know you don't strictly speaking <i>need</i> it, but it's good camouflage. It will stop the old women from telling me to tell <i>you</i> to dress warmer." Geralt had made another cookie disappear, and Regis grabbed one for himself.

"I strictly speaking do not need many things that I enjoy, and I will enjoy this. It's lovely." He pushed his nose into the wool and inhaled the scent. "Did you dye it yourself? Who taught you to knit?"

"I did. And I asked Marlene, who asked Annie, who was very patient. Hiding it from you was the worst thing. If you hadn't left, I don't think I would have finished it in time for the cold weather. I'm glad I can still surprise you." The shyness had made room for pride, the smile turning into a fangy grin that Regis knew some people found off putting but he never had, for obvious reasons.

"My dear Geralt, I would never dare to think I have fathomed all your secrets." Regis leaned over for a kiss. "But this is a particularly delightful one. Thank you. For the scarf, and the surprise."

FAQs

Does there have to be a monster in the story/the artwork that is important for the plot/the piece of art? - Yes, definitely! The monster can be purely imaginary though, like in a dream, or maybe people only think there is a monster, but it turns out there is not. It must be a driving force of the plot/central element of the artwork, though.

What is a monster? - "A monster is a type of fictional creature found in horror, fantasy, science fiction, folklore, mythology and religion. Monsters are very often depicted as dangerous and aggressive with a strange, grotesque appearance that causes terror and fear. Monsters usually resemble bizarre, deformed, otherworldly and/or mutated animals or entirely unique creatures of varying sizes, but may also take a human form, such as mutants, ghosts and spirits, zombies or cannibals, among other things. They may or may not have supernatural powers, but are usually capable of killing or causing some form of destruction, threatening the social or moral order of the human world in the process." Must the monster be evil and scary? - No, not necessarily. There are "good" monsters in the original Witcher books, like Dopplers or even a Higher Vampire. The monster could also just be a mischievous goblin that hides socks. Humour and fluff very welcome!

Must the monster die? - That is totally up to you. There are quite a few examples in the books where Geralt does not kill the monster, even cases where he befriends it.

Is sex with a monster allowed? - Sure, why not? Just tag it accordingly if it is nsfw or any warnings/triggers apply (like non-con etc.).

WITCHER BEASTIARY: DRAGONS 

Despite what tales of noble dragon slayers rescuing innocent maidens might have you believe, the people organizing expeditions to hunt down dragons are invariably motivated not by the desire to put an end to the local threat, or even to win fame, but by simple greed.

In the same way, tales painting dragons as terrible foes of the human race, which are used to justify half of all hunts, are just fables. If dragons had no treasure hoards, nobody would even give a damn, except maybe the serfs whose sheep they devour. ��  (card template)

They trudge on and on through the darkness of the sewers for what feels like endless hours to Yennefer. And the longer it takes, the more tense she becomes. Her toad has been drifting in and out of sleep - or maybe unconsciousness, how would she be able to tell the difference? - but it is alive, which is something. As they had to repeatedly wade through the stinking, dirty water on very treacherous ground, she put it back into her pocket so she would have both hands free in case she slipped. It is a lot safer like this and, of course, Yennefer frequently - and more anxiously than she would ever admit to anybody, including herself - checks on the little animal. However, there is something else besides her worry for her unusual pet. At first, Yennefer thought it was the rats that scurry away in droves as soon as they round a corner, but after the first few times she has gotten used to the inevitable rodents. They are no danger to the nightly wanderers anyway. And yet, she feels the constant urge to turn around and check if something is following them. Has she grown paranoid during the escape from Thanedd? Or is she imagining things because of the many Witcher stories Geralt told her about horrible and very deadly monsters? Whatever the reason may be, somehow Yennefer has the very disconcerting feeling that some ancient evil is lurking in the depths of the sewers, something dark and dangerous which even Dermain's optimism cannot dispel. Again and again she glances back over her shoulder. But nothing. No drowners or nekkers are suddenly rising from the murky water, nor man-eating fish or gigantic alligators or krakens. Yennefer sighs. How she yearns to leave the stinking sewers behind!

FAQs

Does there have to be a monster in the story/the artwork that is important for the plot/the piece of art? - Yes, definitely! The monster can be purely imaginary though, like in a dream, or maybe people only think there is a monster, but it turns out there is not. It must be a driving force of the plot/central element of the artwork, though.

What is a monster? - "A monster is a type of fictional creature found in horror, fantasy, science fiction, folklore, mythology and religion. Monsters are very often depicted as dangerous and aggressive with a strange, grotesque appearance that causes terror and fear. Monsters usually resemble bizarre, deformed, otherworldly and/or mutated animals or entirely unique creatures of varying sizes, but may also take a human form, such as mutants, ghosts and spirits, zombies or cannibals, among other things. They may or may not have supernatural powers, but are usually capable of killing or causing some form of destruction, threatening the social or moral order of the human world in the process." Must the monster be evil and scary? - No, not necessarily. There are "good" monsters in the original Witcher books, like Dopplers or even a Higher Vampire. The monster could also just be a mischievous goblin that hides socks. Humour and fluff very welcome!

Must the monster die? - That is totally up to you. There are quite a few examples in the books where Geralt does not kill the monster, even cases where he befriends it.

Is sex with a monster allowed? - Sure, why not? Just tag it accordingly if it is nsfw or any warnings/triggers apply (like non-con etc.).
