Otome Commandments

A list of tropes/unofficial commandments in otome games. There’s more than 10 listed because these days most games have more than 10 suitors choices.

Otome Commandment 1: Thou shalt have at least one emotionally constipated suitor. This suitor speaks in commands, growls, and eye rolls. He is hot AF.

Otome Commandment 2: MC shall have at least one miscommunication with their suitor that could have been resolved if they had actually spoken their mind.

Otome Commandment 3: Thou shalt have at least one suitor who looks pretty in pink. Prettier than you.

Otome Commandment 4: Thou shalt have a suitor who IS sex on a stick whose every word is innuendo.

Otome Commandment 5: Thou shalt have one eye patch dude. 50% fewer visible eyeballs, 200% increased sexiness.

Otome Commandment 6: There shall be one suitor who is the default tired elder looking after everyone else. He shall know how to use whips accordingly. Yes Daddy.

Otome Commandment 7: No sexual experience? No problem! Thou shalt still have a hot steamy night and not get pregnant. MC is covered by protagonist protection.

Otome Commandment 8: There shall be several gentlemanly choices among suitors. Whether they are gentle is up to interpretation.

Otome Commandment 9: There shall be at least one route where MC gets kidnapped and must be rescued. Unless we are talking about Ikemen vampire. Then MC shall be kidnapped at least once per route.

Otome Commandment 10: Thou shalt have suitors whom exhibit violence to protect MC. The readers will swoon. MC will freak out and question their life choices.

Otome Commandment 11: Readers shall rise up in annoyance at MC when they get scared of the suitor. The suitor’s crime? Doing exactly what he said he was going to do.

Otome Commandment 12: Yandere(s)? Yes please. Note: this commandment may not be applicable in real life.

Otome Commandment 13: The cold, stoic consort is secretly the biggest romantic. Hey, we don’t make up the rules here. We just write them down.

Otome Commandment 14: Swords and an inordinate number of belts immediately make consorts more attractive. Bonus points if there’s blood on them.

Otome Commandment 15: There shall be one consort whom readers will agree is the in real life standard. The walking green flag. The man to bring home to your parents. The man who is the embodiment of protectiveness, teasing sweetness, and an overall great guy.

He shall not be the most popular consort.

More Yuu angst in honor of Mother’s Day! Just imagine Yuu getting homesick and missing their mom. All day they’ve been listening to the first years talk about gifts they sent their mothers, little traditions they do for Mother’s Day, and etc. Meanwhile Yuu is stuck knowing that this is their first year without their mother. It feels dreadful knowing that they aren’t with their family nor can they even reach out to them. It doesn’t help that Crowley suddenly proposed that after classes and extra curriculums that their mothers could come. It was a very odd and inconvenient time that he even announced this. Yuu paid no mind to it though a bit lost in thought wondering how their mother was even doing. Soon each of the first years mothers came. It was nice seeing Dylla once again. Ace and Sebek’s mothers both immediately showed off their sons baby pictures. Soon making the rest join in as they all cooed over how small and cute their sons used to be. Yuu took this as a chance for blackmail and agreed with them that the first years were so cute. The shrouds mother happy talked about their son’s happily. Yuu just listened and teased the embarrassed freshman. Every little embarrassing story connected to a random photo or even just listening to them all talk made Yuu momentarily forget about their hardships.

It wasn’t until Ace’s mother stated, “ So Yuu Ace tells me so much about you! Where’s your mother at?… is she late?” She innocently asked soon making Yuu pause.

“… I um… it’s….” Yui honestly had no idea what to even say. How do and why would Yuu tell them: Oh I’m from an alternate dimension with no magic at all! I was originally the janitor but this magic demon cat weasel and me got promoted to one whole student. And I have no way or any idea who to get home…. How would Yuu even being to explain that?

“ Well… I..” Yuu was soon interrupted by Dylla,” They must just be late. How’ve you been Yuu?” She asked Yuu slightly smiled happy they didn’t have to explain the mess that their in currently.

After a while Yuu pretty much met most of the main casts mothers. Georgina seemed happy to see them again too. Yuu somehow got stuck between Georgina and Azul’s mother in a conversation. Riddles mother…Yuu honestly couldn’t stand her especially her comments on how much sugar Riddle seemed to be consuming at the unbirthday parties. Trey’s mother seemed a little tense seeing Riddles mother, but she was very kind to Yuu. Caters mother commented on how cute Yuu was. For the diasomnia group. Honestly Yuu kept seeing ghostly figures behind Silver and Malleus the whole day. Yuu couldn’t even explain what it was, since no one else saw anything looming around the prince and his knight so Yuu shrugged it off as a migrane.

It wasn’t until they got back to Ramshackle their mood suddenly dropped. Yuu misses their mother. They missed her smile. Yuu missed her voice. Yuu missed the comfort and reassurance they brought them. Yuu couldn’t even remember their mothers voice anymore from how long they’ve been here….

Yuu misses their mom. ————

You know whats a crazy really specific wish I have? Seeing the Great Seven in TWST's artstyle. It would be really interesting to see how they would translate the original designs to anime. (This ask was absolutely inspired by Yana Toboso's Frozen fanart that lives in my head 24/7 tbh.)

Spring in the House of Lamentation

Spring in the Devildom meant many things. At last, it was getting much warmer, the birds were getting louder, and the days much longer.

The most sinister of flora was beginning to bloom, the fanged flowers popping up beneath every window, and the strangling daffodils blossoming between every crack in the pavement.

This was fine by you. What was less fine, was the bugs.

It wasn’t so much seeing them everywhere, hearing the buzz of their wings, or feeling the prick of their little teeth as they searched for blood and sometimes your very soul. The main issue was the brothers’ reactions to these bugs.

Maybe hundreds of thousands of years in the Celestial Realm—a realm where only cute and useful bugs existed—made them especially weak to Devildom bugs. All you knew was that high-pitched shrieking coming completely out of nowhere on a daily basis, sometimes right beside you, was completely unbearable.

In a house of demons, only you—the human—and Lucifer paid the bugs no mind, as the other six fled for their lives. Sure one or two Devildom mosquitos could kill you, but were you scared to see them? No. Not really. Were the brothers? Damn right, they were.

You could be playing a video game with Levi full of a million jump scares but what made you jump from your seat was his genuine high-pitched scream as a blood-red millipede snuck under his chair to hide in the dark.

You and Mammon could be driving at speeds that would have you arrested in the human world and he wouldn’t flinch, but the second a giant gnat gets into the car he very well may swerve and crash.

Beelzebub did not at all mind the big bugs, to him they looked like drool-worthy food, especially the gelatin-like slugs bigger than your feet (which you always had to return to the wild—feeling pity for them.) He did however mind the marching ants that snuck in through the crack Satan made in the wall during one of his fits. He couldn’t sit still with the intrusive thought they’d be crawling all over him or worse—eating his food. While Beelzebub didn’t scream loudly like his brothers he would look extremely upset and come find you for help, sometimes bursting through your door causing you to shriek instead.

Belphegor was possibly the worst. Although he slept all day, he was up late through the night so you’d often wake with a start to a tall shadow leaning over you, asking you if you could also see the horrific bug in the corner of his room, and can you please do something about it?

Satan didn’t scream but he did startle, sometimes it’d cause sudden loud noises as walls broke or vases shattered. Everyone was always too afraid to come check if it was a bug because there was a big possibility he was just angry and they did not want to get in the middle of one of his fits of rage.

Asmodeus was worse than everyone. Horror movie screams rang through the halls, loud enough to shatter glass that continued until Lucifer came to take care of the issue and hand his brother a bill for new cups.

Lucifer has time and time again tried spell after spell to rid the home of bugs. He even tried human world pest repellent and inhumane traps but none of it worked. Somehow, much like the rats to the castle, the bugs returned and you heard his endless complaints about it at least three times a week.

Little everyday things like these were your biggest issue with spring. In autumn you had a bit of break and in winter especially despite the Devildom rarely getting cold, it was still the time of year for the little bugs to rest.

Despite all these inconveniences caused by the most minor of creatures, the one thing you agreed with the brothers on is when the arachnids came for a visit. In the Devildom there were no such things as cute jumping spiders or dancing little scorpions, just giant pointed monsters that wanted to eat you.

In these moments you were reminded that this truly was hell…but at least it wasn’t yet summer. That’s when things were at their very worst.

He’s known for his intellect and observation skill

Definitely asks very difficult questions

Don’t act like he wouldn’t LOVE asking people riddles just to watch them flail

Fenn: Succubus

Roy: Kitsune

Incredibly beautiful and poised on the outside, but clever and has a hidden mischievous side

People always seem to think he can do no wrong and he’s all sunshine and rainbows, but that’s what he WANTS you to think

He can be a little trickster if he wants to

Everyone around him worships the ground he walks on but you have to be careful around him lest he see an opportunity to mess with you a bit

Lynt: Unicorn

Unicorns are known for being serene, gentle, and very kind

Beings of purity and innocence, which is Lynt in a nutshell

They’re drawn to peace, kind of like Lynt and his naps

Calm, dreamlike nature gives off a sleepy aura

Rio: Griffin

Griffins are part lion and part eagle, both creatures that represent courage

They’re seen as protectors in a lot of cultures, fierce with personalities embodying deep loyalty and honor

They’re both regal and sunshiny, embodying Rio’s protector personality

Lance: Werewolf

Fits his lone wolf personality

They often represent duality- wild on the outside but carrying hidden loyalty or softness.

They’re portrayed often as brutish beasts, but in some cultures the werewolf is a victim of a bite and turns against his will.

Lance enjoys looking tough and loner on the outside, but if you squint you can see the kindness and the soft heart that he works so hard to hide
