I'm not gonna lie, when I think about how Jeff Davis, not just created Teen Wolf, but also wrote Criminal Minds, I'm like, "What? Friggin how? How did the critically acclaimed psychothriller crime drama about intellectual mind games with serial killers come out of Jeff 'squishing two werewolves together to make a bigger werewolf' Davis?"

But then I remember the only episode of Criminal Minds I ever watched, (where a man is killing brunette girls on a college campus and gets caught, but then a goth/emo, blonde girl dyes her hair brown and kills another brunette girl, in order to get the real killer released from custody, so that he can hopefully kill her because she's suicidal but too scared to do it herself, saying things like "But I only killed that girl for you! And I actually liked her! She was really nice to me! Please, I'm too scared to do it myself!" when he refuses to do it, and then, once she's surrounded by cops, decides to stab herself anyway and dies, while all the detectives look at her like, "That poor girl...it's tragic what happened to her, even though she bashed another girl's head in with a rock for ultimately no reason") and I think, "Ah...yeah, okay, no, I see it now."

Isaac Lahey: Don't Fuck with his People.

So can we please take a moment to talk about Isaac’s fight with Ethan.

Now a lot of people have pointed out that it was Stiles filling in Isaac about Scott that prompted the fight. Which makes my shipper heart go “SQUEE” as much as anyone else, but I want to go a little deeper with this.

Because while I think Scott’s injury was a final straw for Isaac, I am positive it wasn’t the only reason.

Watch that scene again. Notice something odd? Isaac the werewolf is so pissed off he is literally beating the shit out a guy and he’s doing it without wolfing out. This isn’t an explosive fit of rage, this is a calculated act of violence.

And how can we ignore Boyd in the background, looking so fucking satisfied. 

Because Ethan wasn’t the one to hurt Scott, physically any way. But he is still attached to the source. The same way he is part of the source of Erica’s death, of Boyd’s capture, Derek’s “death”, the loss of Isaac’s mystery girl, the lose of Isaac’s memories. He nearly killed Isaac. He caused Isaac to nearly kill Allison by exploring his weakness. Ethan isn’t the problem, but he is a representation of the problem. He represents all the lose and pain Isaac has been forced to suffer the last few months. 

So when Isaac finds out that he might lose another friend to this, and that once again he is helpless stop, he snaps. He wants to make Ethan hurt. He is translating emotional pain into a visceral response. And that’s heartbreaking. That in that second he is an animal, even though he’s still perfectly human. This isn’t about werewolves or packs or alpha’s or monster.

This is about the fact that Isaac has systematically lost pretty much everyone he’s ever cared about. Even the ones that hurt him. His mom, Camden, hid dad, Erica, in a lot of ways Boyd, Derek, and now he thinks he’s going to lose Scott too. So he goes after Ethan, because Ethan is a physical representation of all the things Isaac hasn’t been able to protect the people he loves from. 

He needs someone to hurt as much as he’s hurting. We’re getting a glimpse of the Isaac we saw right after the bite. An angry young man looking for an outlet. It’s a harsh and stark reminder that Isaac is not a gentle puppy. He’s grown as a person, as a human being, but their will always be part of him that is an angry kid, fighting tooth and nail to hang on to the few people he has left, the few people he trusts enough to care about.

Sterek stunt double/movie star AU - Derek Hale is the next rising star in Hollywood, starring in a lot of upcoming films. Stiles Stilinski is a stuntman who’s playing the stunt double for Miguel Juarez, an actor starring across from Derek in his latest film. 

Derek is amendment on doing as many of his own stunts as he can, this means hours of training with and getting very close to Stiles.

Spending that much time together, in such a close proximity, the two of them grow close and when Stiles is substituted in for rather intimate scene with Derek, something changes.

After they finish filming, Derek works up the courage to ask Stiles out. One thing leads to another and the two end up dating–a relationship that causes a lot of envy and controversy in the industry. A lot of people think that their relationship won’t last, but the two end up together forever.

I feel like my favorite Sterek trope is "Yeah, but I didn't think you would ACTUALLY do it!"

Where Stiles actually does what Derek tells him to do and Derek absolutely hates it. It's a surprisingly versatile trope.

1. Imagine the pack is infiltrated by a shapeshifter. Not only can it look like anyone, it can copy their scent, too. At some point, Derek tells Stiles, "It's too dangerous. Stay in the car." And Stiles just fucking does. Immediately, Derek is dragging him out by the neck, demanding to know where the real Stiles is because "Stiles would never 'stay in the car'. Especially if it was dangerous."

2. Or imagine Stiles is just not having a very good day and during a typical argument at a pack meeting Derek says "If you don't like it, you can just leave." Stiles thinks to himself I don't have to put up with this and walks out the door, leaving a stunned Derek behind.

Later Derek shows up in Stiles' room asking, "Why did you leave?"

"Um, because you fucking told me to?"

"Yeah, but I didn't really want you to go."

"Wha-? Then why the hell did you tell me to leave?!"

"Because you never do what I tell you to! I didn't think you'd actually leave! I thought you'd fight me on it like you fight me on everything!"

"So, you really want me at pack meetings?"

"Of course, I want you there."

"Are you sure? I'm just going to disagree with everything you say."

"I know," Derek says quietly, "That's why I want you there."

3. OR! Imagine that after dealing with the Nogitsune, Stiles stops talking. Not completely, he'll answer questions or relay information about cases, but he doesn't ramble. He doesn't yammer or rant. He doesn't get passionate anymore.

And it absolutely destroys Derek inside, because, as annoying as he could be sometimes, when Stiles talked, he was animated. He was excited and full of life.

It reminds him of the dead quiet after the fire. A whole house of bustling people, suddenly hushed. It's a silence so loud it makes his ears ache. It honestly hurts.

Derek sneaks into Stiles' room one night to confront him about it when it gets to be too much.

"Talk."

"What?"

"Talk. I need you to talk to me."

"About...what?"

"Anything. It doesn't matter. Tell me about your day. Tell me about what you ate this morning. I don't care, just talk."

"Why?"

"You've been too quiet, lately. It's driving me crazy."

Stiles huffs. "You're the one that's always telling me to shut up. I would've thought that you'd be overjoyed."

Derek scowls hard, shaking his head. "It's too quiet. I can't stand it. I just...tell me something I don't know...Please."

Stiles bites at his lip, hesitant and unsure, before opening his mouth. "Um...I...I was thinking of getting new shoes lately?"

Derek nods, trying for encouraging. A tenseness in the muscles of his chest slowly begin to loosen. "Tell me about that."

"Uh...okay."

They sit there across from each other. Derek continuing to ask questions about Stiles' life. About what movies he's seen, what books he's read, what college he's looking into.

As he continues to talk, Stiles slowly grows more earnest as he begins talking about anything other than the past year, becoming more at ease as he notices his rapt audience. Derek thinks that maybe Stiles has missed speaking to another person too.

It isn't until Stiles starts going off about all the flaws of the national fingerprinting database in his familiar flail of limbs that things finally feel right again and Derek can finally breathe.

I had a dream last night that I had baby and I’ve spent the entire day wishing it was true. Like I’ve known for a long time I want kids, but this is a whole new type of wanting. Like longing for something I’ve never had and it’s making me sad.
