Time to see what's going on in the world of HEnabled this week! Last Sunday, I had Martin on the show. We talked about his experiences as a mature student with dyslexia who has completed five master's degrees at elite institutions all over the UK. It's a fantastic episode, you can listen to it here
Looking forward to this weekend, my friend Katharine will have their episode coming out! Katharine and I chatted about their experiences as an archaeological researcher on autism in the Palaeolithic era as a person with autism. Their episode will be out this Sunday (22nd June) wherever you get your podcasts. Listen to the show now
Thanks all! <3

The 10th (proper) episode of HEnabled is out now! Show it some love <3
"As individuals, we are our own worst enemy. If you have a dream to study at a particular university, don't talk yourself out of it." This week on the HEnabled podcast, I was joined by the wonderful Martin! Martin struggled with school due to his dyslexia and did not enter higher education until he was in his 30s. He now holds five master's degrees from elite UK universities, including LSE, Imperial, UCL, Royal Holloway, Oxford, and Cambridge. He currently works at PWC. This week's episode truly showcases Martin's persistence and tenacity in all kinds of educational environments. You can listen to it now on Spotify via the embedded link or wherever you get your podcasts!

New episodes of HEnabled are out! Sometimes marketing with a disability can be tough so excuse the VERY belated post 😅 The following episodes are now out:
Pad's Story: Navigating university with a new ASD diagnosis.
Sam's Burning Questions: My friend Sam does not have any disabilities but wanted to learn more about disability in a judgement-free environment; I gave him a platform to do so in this episode.
Marie-France's Story: Getting reasobable adjustments in both university and internships with a late ADHD diagnosis.
You can listen to the show on Spotify here or wherever you get your podcasts! I would love to know what you think. A new episode will be out this Sunday!

For this week's episode of HEnabled, I sat down with the wonderful Maddy to discuss their experience of Higher Education.
Maddy has been studying part-time for a BSc (Honours) in Computing & IT and Business at the Open University since 2019, after Idiopathic Intercranial Hypertension forced them to change their life's trajectory. During Maddy's studies, they acquired an ADHD diagnosis, which deepened their understanding of themselves.
Maddy's story is the perfect example of an unconventional higher education journey. You can listen to it on Spotify via the link below, or wherever you get your podcasts!

Bro why did you censor the snake's cloaca on the snake anatomy post??? It's a snake?
I didn't censor anything, what -
Tumblr media
oh. Oh, no. That's meant to be a line to show where the tail begins. Oh no, now I look like some weird prude.
Yeah, that's meant to help people grasp the anatomy and visualize how small the tail is in relation to the torso. Not meant to be some kind of weird snake privacy screen

My friend was on my podcast and it was great! Please check it out if you can, my guests are always super candid and vulnerable in the name of sharing their authentic experience of higher education so I want to get them loads of listens 🥰
So today I participated in my first ever ~podcast interview~ on my friend's ( @barror1 ) podcast HEnabled, which focuses on disability and higher education in the UK! It was nice to be able to share some of my experiences with ADHD, autism, and dysautonomia during my time doing a masters in the UK, and it would mean a lot if y'all would check it out (and reblog if you want to help share!)

Not to go "if you have ADHD just go for a run" or anything, but I am so serious if you have ADHD you should regularly go outside, no headphones no phone no nothing and just stand and observe for a while until you've had enough. Not until you get bored, until you've had enough. Drink your coffee without watching tiktok. Have a bath without music. Turn down the volume in your headphones. I cannot overstate how much learning to be bored is cruicial with ADHD. Life is not just about pleasure, no matter what your dysregulated dopamine system thinks, and when you teach your brain to be okay with being bored, then boring tasks stop feeling like torture. By letting yourself be bored you are yoinking your system out of the high/low binary and allow for the highs to feel like actual highs and not just anything that isn't low. I am so serious go literally touch grass. Listen to the sounds in your flat. Stimulate your body the way it was designed. It lowers anxiety and makes you feel like you're real and best of all it's completely free

I am in a period of intense ADHD paralysis (coupled with anxiety) and I know I will pull through of course, I always do.
But damn, doesn’t this suck big time.
