JOMP BPC: Overrated Book

I read this book for an English Enrichment club as summer reading in 2023. I'm not going to lie when I say that I really struggle to read in the summer. I get so busy and distracted that picking up a book is one of the last things on my mind. Because of this, I was forcing myself to pick up this book which may have influenced my opinion of it but I found it really unengaging. I think that the plot and what the book is a comparison between and metaphor for is so intriguing and captivating but the play itself was painful to read.

JOMP BPC: Published This Year

I've read two of Benjamin Dean's middle-grade books and this is his most recently published one from January this year. I really enjoyed the other Dean books I read, so I'm on the edge of my seat for when I can read this book!

JOMP BPC: Retelling

I don't read too many retellings and any I have read, I've already spoken about (including this one). But I felt like there is more to say about this one. Cinderella is Dead is a YA feminist retelling of Cinderella set long after she has died. It's an incredible book that I've read and was my friend's gateway drug into Kalynn Bayron's other fairytale retellings. My friend rated Cinderella is Dead, This Poison Heart, and This Wicked Fate all 5 stars. Along with that, she rated You're Not Supposed To Die Tonight 4 stars and is currently reading Sleep Like Death. She's a massive fan and, to be honest, I see why!

I hate it when book girls say the whole ‘why me? I’m just like any other ordinary girl, why would you want me?’ For like the fifth time in the chapter. Like girl do you not want him? Cause I’ll take him. And then when the guys like ‘no, I only want you’ and I’m like ‘ buddy if she didn’t get it by the second or third time you said that, she’ll never get it.

This part of the book almost always stresses me out.
