places - wolfstar microfic - breaking the ice au - word count: 161
Sirius grabbed Remus' hand and tugged him towards the changing rooms. Just before they got there, the pair darted sideways round the corner, into a little nook you'd never notice was there unless you were looking for it. Remus had looked for it. Sirius had taken him there. Now it was one of their places. Places that were theirs, and theirs alone. Like that park bench, that kit cupboard, that street corner. Remus held Sirius' hand tighter, and Sirius pulled his arm around his waist. Sirius leant his forehead against the taller boy's. They stayed there for a moment, just drinking in the other's presence. How much back and forth had it taken to get here? For Remus to tell Sirius he loved him, and for Sirius to ask him out? Sirius shivered, and Remus held him closer, letting him take his heat. When they eventually parted, neither frowned, because now there would always be more moments to share, more places.

small - sunseeker microfic - breaking the ice au - word count: 102
James heard the quiet sniffling before he rounded the corner. He made a segway to the toilet cubicles. The softly muffled sound was echoing from the end cubicle - the one with the broken lock. Clearly, the boy had been in such a rush that he had forgotten that. The hockey player jammed his shoulder lightly against the door and it swung open. There, curled up atop the seat was Regulus, but not the skating star that everyone loved, or the gentle boy that James loved. No, it was a broken, hurting Regulus. He looked so small curled up on himself like that.

curious- sunseeker microfic - breaking the ice au - word count: 221
When James got a message from Remus telling him to let Sirius know that Regulus Black was staying over at a girl’s house, he was a little curious about who this girl was. That was the only reason he started to watch figure skating, he told himself. Sometimes the beautiful boy danced on his own, always sad and heart-wrenching movements, calculating but melancholy. Other times, they danced in couples, and the boy danced with a blonde girl that he later learned was Pandora Rosier - as in Evan’s twin sister.
Pandora was pretty, gentle, interesting, and their paired dances were always exciting, like trying something new. They fit into each other’s arms perfectly, matched each other’s step. James began to ask about it; Sirius laughed, Remus raised an eyebrow, and Peter didn’t understand, and just talked about figure skating, because he danced too, just not on the same level. Barty mocked James for having a crush on Evan’s twin sister.
Regulus began to turn up to the rink to watch the hockey games to support Remus (and his idiotic brother too, he admitted). He was shocked to see the right wing wink and smirk outrageously blatantly at Regulus, but began to ask Remus about him. Just curious, he told himself. After all, wasn’t he expected to get close to Evan’s twin sister?

helmet - dorlene microfic - breaking the ice au - word count: 229
The hockey goals were still out from the boys’ practice, and Marlene leant against one as she attempted to catch her breath. Her strategy was always to try and lap early, but sprints were never easy, and always left her feeling as though the air had been punched out of her chest. Across the rink from her, Dorcas finished her laps and then began to skate over.
The shorter girl reached up and began to pull off her helmet – her black hair braided tightly beneath the green and red plastic – just as she reached the goal crease. She didn’t rush over, but glided smoothly, somehow making the long, unwieldy skates seem elegant. Dorcas’ cheekbones were contoured with a slight blush, the only clue to the exertion of her training. Marlene could never quite fathom her partner’s stamina.
Dorcas pulled off her gloves and then reached up to tuck a stray strand of hair behind Marlene’s ear. Her hands were cold against the blonde’s face, and the intimacy flushed Marlene’s face scarlet. She leant forward to hide it, and Dorcas leant up to meet her. Anyone with lesser balance would have slid over and hit the ice hard, but Dorcas was not just anyone, and initiated the kiss without hesitation, unfaltering, pushing Marlene against the goal post. And if they didn’t get much practice in, well, that was nobody’s business.

dusted - sunseeker microfic - breaking the ice au - word count: 413
It occurred to James that it must have been snowing outside because Regulus’ raven black curls were dusted with a light shower of snow. He vaguely recalled Sirius complaining that his brother was permanently cold but always refused to wear extra layers. James also remembered a week ago wrapping his arms around the younger boy as he shivered, before draping his jacket around Regulus’ shoulders. There was a perfectly normal and platonic explanation for these random recollections. James chose to ignore it.
As Regulus swept onto the rink (thankfully in warmer clothes as opposed to his typical leotard), James was stunned to a halt. A puck could have come flying out of nowhere towards his head, and he would have stood still. Frozen, but grinning like a lunatic – and maybe he was. Maybe he was counting his Christmas blessings that he had been lucky enough to be loved by this boy. Because just then the angel in front of him met his eyeline, and the edges of his lips quirked upwards ever so slightly, in the quietest, gentlest, prettiest smile the hockey player had ever seen. It wasn’t big or fancy, but it felt like the most incomprehensible victory that for once James didn’t have to tease it out of him. That Regulus didn’t feel the need to fight it. That it took no coaxing or pestering for the figure skater to grace James with a candle of a grin.
And although it was the tiniest motion, a glimmer of light, it truly lit up the boy’s face.
In another universe, James Potter was still pining after Lily Evans, not realising that that kind of love was not theirs, not knowing that they could never find a romance that lasted. In another, he did not stop denying his feelings until Regulus Black had slipped away, slipped under, drowned in expectations, and James was as lost in his grief as Regulus was in life. But in this one, the stars and the sun and the moon aligned just so that Potter and Black could find each other before it was too late. And while one star tossed a half-finished Christmas note into a blazing fireplace as his moon gazed heavenward, another star let himself dream for the first time, hope for the first time, wish for the first time.
As he buried his still-damp head into James’ shoulder, he wished that next Christmas he would still be in the arms of this incredible boy.

orbit - sunseeker microfic - breaking the ice au - word count: 65
When James kissed Regulus on the ice rink, it was like scoring his first goal. The surprise, the elation, the shock. The exhilaration made him feel like he was in orbit.
When Regulus skated away from James, it was like when the goal was disallowed. The frustration, pain, the crushing disappointment. He was tumbling back to earth and the landing wasn’t going to be pretty.

roots - rosekiller microfic - breaking the ice au - word count: 233
Evan did this a lot. Ignored him. They fell out a lot, as best friends did. But it always made Barty feel so small, so insignificant. Evan Rosier was a rose. Beautiful, timeless, elegant. His cornrows were pale and his eyes a shocking baby blue, but his blood was startlingly red. Burning, bright, like flower petals. Once Evan blocked a puck that was headed for Barty’s chest, and his finger bled. His blood was just so shining and bright.
But roses had thorns. Barty felt one now, digging deep into his chest, twisting with every nonchalant glance Evan threw in his direction. Maybe he was the one that was bleeding. It hurt so much, so bad. If Evan wanted to break up, he could have said so. He didn’t need to move away to the other side of the pitch, as far away as possible. And no explanation either. Evan hadn’t said a word to him all day. Just furtive stares.
Barty had had to hear about the whole changing positions arrangement from Sirius flipping Black of all people. Sirius, who was now his fellow defender. The thought made him squirm like aphids were running down his back. Another thing roses were was desirable. Always, so, so desirable. Barty longed for Evan, needed him with every fibre of his being. But apparently this rose has replanted itself far far away from its roots.

enticing - wolfstar microfic - breaking the ice au - word count: 162
Remus sat on the windowsill of the changing room, muscles aching from the hours of extra practice, staring out at the moon. In reality, he was much too tall for this perch, far too gangly and lanky, but he’d sat here almost every evening since he'd transferred here. Since he'd joined the team. He liked to watch the moon wax and wane, disappearing but always coming back.
Now, though, his eyes flicked across the velvet black sky, scanning for the big dog. There it was, the star he sought, twinkling down at him from Canis Major, like that obnoxiously flashy grin.
If Remus thought about it, it was fitting that Sirius was the brightest star in the night. After all, he seemed to be enticing Remus in like a moth to a flame. He burned so bright, unlike Remus who could only reflect what others brought to the table. Yes, Remus was the moon, and Sirius was the only star that mattered.

welcome to the rink!
my name is leo, and this is a collection of my microfics - in non-chronological order - all set in a marauders muggle au at an ice rink
James Potter, Sirius Black, Remus Lupin, Peter Pettigrew, Barty Crouch Jr and Evan Rosier all play on the ice hockey team. Peter is centre, Sirius and James are left and right wings, Barty and Evan are defense. Remus Lupin is in goal, having recently filled the vacancy when (James' ex and Remus' best friend) Lily Evans recommended that he gave it a go.
Remus is very intimidated by the team captain Sirius, who has as much energy as James, but channels it with a lot more purpose, and Remus can’t figure out his motives. he’s also a tad intimidated by the two defenders who seem to spend more time flirting than actually blocking the goal.
at the same ice rink, they also have figure skaters. while the hockey team are struggling underdogs who go on the rise with the new goalie addition, their figure skaters are renowned and legendary. their names are Regulus Black and Pandora Rosier.
Regulus, Pandora, Mary and Peter all figure skate (Regulus and Pandora professionally). Lily, Mary, Marlene, Dorcas and James all speedskate (the first four professionally). everyone at the rink is trained by skating coach Minerva "Minnie" McGonagall.
and a lot is about to go down.
ships are: rosekiller, sunseeker, wolfstar, dorlene and pandalily trans reg, mentions of depression and negative mental health, abusive relationships i'm a minor, so no hate please
please interact/send me asks/dm me about my fics, i would love to answer any questions and will take requests for microfics and povs :)
my main is @n1cc0l0-f13rr0
