you basically ran towards it, hoping no one would reach there before you. you sat down, sighing in relief. you patiently waited until your heard the familiar sound of footsteps. kunikida handed you your drink as he gracefully put his tea on the table and takes a seat. the atmosphere was rather awkward as you didn’t know what to talk to him about. work? nah he’ll probably get irritated. interests? does he even have many- “y/n, i know this may seem rather weird asking you but, what is your ideal partner?” he asked you, his eyes focused on yours, not looking away. you couldn’t keep the staring competition up and looked out of the window. my ideal partner hmmm.

“well for me, my ideal partner would be someone who is completely honest and opened with me,” you managed to mumble out, occasionally looking towards him, “a relationship should be built on trust and honesty. without those it’s meaningless. if you truly love someone you will be honest with them, even if it may hurt their feelings at first, but it’s the right thing to do. because lies will just accumulate and will end up in complete and utter chaos.” as you rambled on and on you noticed how his eyes never moved from you. his hands supported his chin as he obediently listened to your every single word. “and that’s it.” he nodded slightly as he finished the rest of his tea. “you can wait outside of you like, i’m just going to settle to payment.” you knew there was no point arguing with him. his stubborn when he wants something done his way.

you stood outside, humming to keep yourself company in the once busy streets of yokohama. kunikida briskly walked towards your side, lightly touching your back indicating for you to walk.

the walk home was rather silent, but not in an awkward way. you felt a tingling sensation inside close to his presence. and it continued to grow everything he walked closer and closer to you. the first thought that came into your mind was am i dying?-

“we’re here.” kunikida broke the silence as he stopped in front of your house. your apparent happiness started to escape from you. you dismiss him with a small smile as you open your front door but he stops you. “wait, i have something for you.” he hands you something wrapped in a distinctive piece of neutral coloured paper. so kunikida. it was small but heavy. you thanked him once again and slowly closed the door, smiling at him once last time.
