Last year, Tyler Gillett and Matt Bettinelli-Olpin introduced the world to the idea of the "requel" in Scream, the fifth installment of the beloved horror franchise. Inspired by franchise reboots that mix the new and the old, a requel is a movie that revisits the subject matter of an earlier film without being a remake or a linear continuation of the original plot. Now, the Radio Silence filmmakers are busy promoting their next film, Scream VI. While chatting with ComicBook.com's Chris Killian, the duo also talked about another upcoming project, the Escape From New York reboot they're making with their fellow creative, Chad Villella. However, it sounds like fans can officially stop using the term "reboot" and start using "requel" when it comes to the new Escape From New York. "It's a great question. I don't think we know enough about the movie yet to be able to say anything, but yes 'requel' is the idea," the directors shared with Killian when asked if the movie would be a requel that could involve Escape From New York star, Kurt Russell. "There's no way to remake how great that movie is, would be a fool's errand to try. So, you know, we'll try to borrow what we love from it and find a new way to put the package together."⚡️🍿🍿🍿🗽 #comiccon #spoilermagazine #news #losangeles #podcast #magazine #art #instagram #galaxy #film #tv #hollywood #feature #movies #fandom #graphicdesign #nyc #spoiler #comicconradio #comicbooks #actors #artist #life #escapefromnewyork #kurtrussell #80s (at Los Angeles, California) https://www.instagram.com/p/CqSkfKvLPXJ/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

Marvel Studios is getting ready to bring Wolverine back to the big screen with Hugh Jackman reprising the role that he made iconic in Deadpool 3. The studio was expected to recast the role, but with this era of the Marvel Cinematic Universe being called The Multiverse Saga, it made it possible for Jackman to return. Before the news of his return, fans were casting the role online, and some of the names that were thrown out there were Tom Hardy, Keanu Reeves, and even Taron Egerton. Reeves has been pretty vocal in the nerdy community and has previously revealed his interest in the Wolverine role. Now he's once again voicing that he wants to play the mutant. During a recent Reddit AMA, Reeves was asked if he had a role that he regretted turning down, and his response was plain and simple. "Has there ever been a role in your career that you regret turning down?" To which Reeves responded: "…No…but I did always want to play Wolverine."⚡️🍿🍿🍿 #comiccon #spoilermagazine #news #losangeles #podcast #magazine #art #instagram #galaxy #film #tv #hollywood #feature #movies #fandom #graphicdesign #nyc #spoiler #comicconradio #comicbooks #actors #artist #life #hughjackman #wolverine #marvel #keanureeves (at Los Angeles, California) https://www.instagram.com/p/CqSkHD9r1Vd/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

Chris Rock performed his latest comedy special, titled Selective Outrage, live on Netflix, and it featured his long-awaited response to the Will Smith slap at the Oscars. Rock dedicated the last 10 minutes of the special to addressing not only the situation at the Oscars but also things surrounding Will and Jada's marriage and how they addressed infidelity on Red Table Talk. Rock spoke about how he always loved Will Smith but demonstrated how that has changed with a joke aimed at Smith's recent film Emancipation. He also explained why he didn't hit Smith back, and his special didn't hold anything back. ⚡️🍿🍿🍿👌🏼 #comiccon #spoilermagazine #news #losangeles #podcast #magazine #art #instagram #galaxy #film #tv #hollywood #feature #movies #fandom #graphicdesign #nyc #spoiler #comicconradio #comicbooks #actors #artist #life #chrisrock #willsmith #netflix #comedy (at Los Angeles, California) https://www.instagram.com/p/CqSjrAFrzdS/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

Polka-Dot Man may have died at the end of The Suicide Squad, but that hasn't stopped fans from hoping to see him come back in some form or fashion in a future DC film. David Dastmalchian's portrayal of the villain-turned-hero in James Gunn's 2021 film made Polka-Dot Man an instant hit with audiences. People want to see him back in action, and Dastmalchian clearly wants the same. Dastmalchian recently spoke with ComicBook.com's Chris Killian about his role in the new Hulu film Boston Strangler, and the subject of Gunn's new position as head of DC Studios came up. If the chance to work with Gunn came up again, as Polka-Dot Man or in a new role, Dastmalchian wouldn't hesitate to say yes. "Being on set with James Gunn was one of the greatest experiences of my life," Dastmalchian said. "If it's the one chance that I got to do that, then I'll savor and be grateful for that for the rest of my life. But if there is some miraculous way that he, in all of his brilliance and imagination, finds for Abner or any other character that he thinks I might be right to portray, to come into that world, I'm there in a second." "Abner is by far one of the greatest roles I've ever gotten to play as an actor," he told us. "James wrote me a gift of a role. So if there was some origin story, or if there was a flashback sequence, that could be cool." ⚡️🍿🍿⚡️🦹🏻‍♂️⚫️⚪️🔴⚫️🔵 #comiccon #spoilermagazine #news #losangeles #podcast #magazine #art #instagram #galaxy #film #tv #hollywood #feature #movies #fandom #graphicdesign #nyc #spoiler #comicconradio #comicbooks #actors #artist #life #polkadot #dccomics #daviddastmalchian #suicidsquad (at Los Angeles, California) https://www.instagram.com/p/CqSirORrR7C/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

The Day After Tomorrow is trending because of the freak tornado out in Los Angeles. According to NBC Los Angeles, the damage was confined to the San Gabriel Valley in the city. A video showcasing debris and car parts swirling made the rounds on social media. It's a wild sight to behold, especially in a region where tornadoes are not very common at all. The National Weather Service says that it was a "small tornado" and there are no other updates at this time. Montebello Fire Department explained that one person was injured in the winds but there were no fatalities. Five buildings also sustained some damage. Check out the video below. Here's how 20th Century is described: "When global warming triggers the onset of a new Ice Age, tornadoes flatten Los Angeles, a tidal wave engulfs New York City and the entire Northern Hemisphere begins to freeze solid. Now, climatologist Jack Hall (Dennis Quaid), his son Sam (Jake Gyllenhaal) and a small band of survivors must ride out the growing superstorm and stay alive in the face of an enemy more powerful and relentless than any they've ever encountered: Mother Nature!" ⚡️🍿🍿🍿🌪️🌪️ #comiccon #spoilermagazine #news #losangeles #podcast #magazine #art #instagram #galaxy #film #tv #hollywood #feature #movies #fandom #graphicdesign #nyc #spoiler #comicconradio #comicbooks #actors #artist #life #tornado #gaming #weather (at Los Angeles, California) https://www.instagram.com/p/CqSh6CPrFB_/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

This summer will bring the long-awaited debut of The Little Mermaid, the live-action remake of the beloved Disney classic. The Little Mermaid has enchanted fans thus far with its teaser trailers and various other pieces of marketing, which have spotlighted Halle Bailey's trailblazing take on Ariel. In a recent interview with Edition magazine, Bailey shed some light on the experience of making the film, revealing that she spent as much as 13 hours a day underwater while filming. "I pushed myself as far as I've ever pushed myself in life," Bailey revealed. "And I feel like the message from [Ariel] was to know that you've always had it in you." ⚡️🍿🍿🧜🏼‍♀️🧜🏿‍♀️🫶🏼 #comiccon #spoilermagazine #news #losangeles #podcast #magazine #art #instagram #galaxy #film #tv #hollywood #feature #movies #fandom #graphicdesign #nyc #spoiler #comicconradio #comicbooks #actors #artist #life #littlemermaid #mermaid #disney #liveaction #theatre (at Los Angeles, California) https://www.instagram.com/p/CqSgzWvrvpR/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

AIR, Ben Affleck plays Nike head man Phil Knight. Its essentially the story of how Nike got Michael Jordan. It will be interesting to see how people react to the larger release. Sneaker culture has exploded worldwide since the 2000s. It was already massive by the time Jordan made it to the league. However, as AIR makes it clear, things shifted into another stratosphere with the introduction of Nike's Air Jordan line. One man and a marketing team is likely the reason that so many young athletes clamor for these kinds of endorsement deals now. Ben Affleck via Hollywood Reporter "I've never known anybody with that kind of charisma and power who walks into a room and it just reverberates," he added. "And is it him or is it the way people treat him? Is it your memories of him? I don't know, but it's powerful. I said, 'Please, can I come out?' And he was great. 'Yeah, no problem. Come to the golf course.' Went out, met with him. I waited for him to finish playing. I don't golf myself. Because I just feel like it eats people's lives up." "I have to be very clear, this is not the authorized Michael Jordan story. He was not compensated in a way that would be appropriate if this were that. If you're going to do a Michael Jordan story, they should back the fucking truck up. This was me saying, 'Mike, I'm not going to make the movie if you're not cool with something about it. I just won't do it. I want to know what's important to you.' He was very clear," Affleck recalled. "He was the one who told me about [Nike executive] Howard White, who wasn't in the original script, who's played by Chris Tucker. And I said, 'Any anecdotes about your dad?' And without going into any more detail, he actually talked about his mom, who wasn't really in the script. That's when I understood what the movie was. Talking to him about his mom was incredibly moving, and I realized, 'Oh, this isn't about Nike.'" ⚡️🍿🍿🍿👟🏀 #comiccon #spoilermagazine #news #losangeles #podcast #magazine #art #instagram #galaxy #film #tv #hollywood #feature #movies #fandom #graphicdesign #nyc #spoiler #comicconradio #comicbooks #actors #artist #life #michaeljordan #nike #aire #benaffleck (at Los Angeles, California) https://www.instagram.com/p/CqSe2r7LT_b/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2's new raid seems to connect the series to the Call of Duty: Black Ops franchise. For many years, Call of Duty has reliably released a new game every year. To ensure that stays fresh to fans, Activision opted to split the various developers who work on the series into their own franchises. Infinity Ward handles Modern Warfare, Treyarch tackles Black Ops, and Sledgehammer... does a variety of things with little consistency. For the longest time, these franchises were kept very far apart from each other in terms of their connections, but in recent years (likely after the success of things like the MCU), Activision has tried to string them all together. Given everything has sort of been rebooted in a way, this has made it easier to tie things together.⚡️🍿🍿🎮🎮🕹️ #comiccon #spoilermagazine #news #losangeles #podcast #magazine #art #instagram #galaxy #film #tv #hollywood #feature #movies #fandom #graphicdesign #nyc #spoiler #comicconradio #comicbooks #actors #artist #life #callofduty #gaming #gamer (at Los Angeles, California) https://www.instagram.com/p/CqSeDFPLKep/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

A "new" GTA 6 gameplay clip has been making the rounds today. New is in quotes because the footage is actually from last year's massive leak, however, many have never seen the footage as the clip, in particular, was buried by other media of the game. And at the time nobody knew what they were looking at it, but since then it's been deduced that the footage is actually from GTA 6 Online and its hides a very interesting detail. Unfortunately, Rockstar Games and its parent company Take-Two Interactive have acted swiftly and already taken the footage down, but not before the aforementioned tidbit was noticed. Currently, GTA 5 Online lobbies support up to 30 players. If you were expecting this number to be doubled or tripled with GTA 6, it looks like you're out of luck, however, it will be bigger. Hidden in the footage is some code showing the current player count, which reads "2/32." In other words, lobbies are being expanded to 32 players. ⚡️🍿🍿🍔🎮🎮🕹️ #comiccon #spoilermagazine #news #losangeles #podcast #magazine #art #instagram #galaxy #film #tv #hollywood #feature #movies #fandom #graphicdesign #nyc #spoiler #comicconradio #comicbooks #actors #artist #life #gta #gta6 #gaming #gamer (at Los Angeles, California) https://www.instagram.com/p/CqSd1h9LarH/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

WandaVision composer Christophe Beck to the cast of the Disney+ series. A new piece in Film Music Reporter had the scoop. Beck has worked on hits like Frozen, Buffy The Vampire Slayer, and the Ant-Man trilogy in the past. So, it's not a complete shock to see him back in the MCU. During the Film Music Live show, he told the hosts that audiences would hear his work in Agatha: Coven of Chaos. Now, MCU fans don't know when the Disney+ series will be hitting the airwaves. There was speculation that the program would be around this year. But, the timeline has become much more fluid with all this talk of restructuring. At any rate, this would be exciting stuff for WandaVision fans. ⚡️🍿🍿🍿 #comiccon #spoilermagazine #news #losangeles #podcast #magazine #art #instagram #galaxy #film #tv #hollywood #feature #movies #fandom #graphicdesign #nyc #spoiler #comicconradio #comicbooks #actors #artist #life #music #composer #wandavision #marvelcomics (at Los Angeles, California) https://www.instagram.com/p/CqSdoP7LUhH/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

New information about the Genshin Impact character Arlecchino has apparently leaked online, giving players an idea what she might look like when she actually arrives in the game. For those unfamiliar with Arlecchino, the character is one of the Eleven Fatui Harbingers that work for Tsaritsa. Fans got a brief look at Arlecchino and the rest of the Fatui Harbingers in last year's A Winter Night's Lazzo trailer, but it seems that the character could look a little bit different by the time she appears in the game. The following description comes from Team China, with a translation provided by the Genshin Impact leaks subreddit. "Black white gray with some red, a regular suit without a fur collar, has a tail like tailcoats. No hat, has a very pretty hair accessory, should be wearing regular heels (Team China: I've never worn any, idk)." It should be noted that this is all speculation at this time, and should be taken with a grain of salt. Arlecchino's appearance in A Winter Night's Lazzo isn't too far off from the description, though parts of her outfit matched what the rest of the Eleven Fatui Harbingers were wearing. As such, it's possible we could see her appearance change somewhat when she does appear in the game. For now, fans will just have to wait patiently to see what miHoYo reveals! ⚡️🍿🍿🍿🎮 #comiccon #spoilermagazine #news #losangeles #podcast #magazine #art #instagram #galaxy #film #tv #hollywood #feature #movies #fandom #graphicdesign #nyc #spoiler #comicconradio #comicbooks #actors #artist #life #gaming #gamer # (at Los Angeles, California) https://www.instagram.com/p/CqSdPRSr355/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

Zack Snyder's Army of the Dead: Lost Vegas is still alive at Netflix. In 2020, the streamer announced Snyder's Las Vegas-set zombie heist movie would spawn a live-action film prequel — 2021's Army of Thieves — and an anime spin-off series expanding the Army of the Dead universe. Despite the lack of updates since announcing the star-studded voice cast, Snyder revealed in a new interview that the stalled Army of the Dead anime remains in the works as he develops the Norse mythology-inspired anime Twilight of the Gods and his upcoming sci-fi epic Rebel Moon for Netflix. "I will say that there's been a slight stall on the Lost Vegas animated thing. For technical reasons, it went off the rail a little bit," Snyder told The Nerd Queens, adding that "Twilight of the Gods, on the other hand, has been forging ahead incredibly well and it's looking amazing." Snyder said the Army Universe is "still alive and well in my mind." "I know exactly what I would do," the director said of a potential live-action Army of the Dead sequel. "It really depends on how we try and figure out how we go forward with Rebel Moon and the Rebel Moon Universe. It's not a small-time commitment to Rebel Moon stuff, because a sci-fi thing like this — at this scale — does require a lot of attention to make it all make sense, and it's a very interconnected world."⚡️🍿🍿🍿🧟‍♂️ #comiccon #spoilermagazine #news #losangeles #podcast #magazine #art #instagram #galaxy #film #tv #hollywood #feature #movies #fandom #graphicdesign #nyc #spoiler #comicconradio #comicbooks #actors #artist #life #zacksnyder #armyofthedead (at Los Angeles, California) https://www.instagram.com/p/CqScyoWrmRS/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

Adrian Monk is back — and it's still a jungle out there for the "defective detective." Tony Shalhoub and the Monk cast will reunite for Mr. Monk's Last Case: A Monk Movie, a feature-length sequel film reviving the series that ran for eight seasons between 2002 to 2009 on USA Network. After revealing Peacock's Monk movie will catch up with the germophobic and obsessive-compulsive Adrian Monk (Shalhoub) in the present day "post-COVID," the Emmy-winning actor has shared new details about Mr. Monk's last case involving a wedding and a global pandemic. "It's Monk present day after however long we've been away from him, 13 years now, going on 14 years," Shalhoub told EW. "This is post-COVID. Monk has been knocked back on his heels because of COVID. He's older. He's not going to be chasing down things on the street and things like that. Hopefully (laughs). We're going to have to write to the fact that Monk's older." "It's a really interesting story," Shalhoub added. Good Burger 2 is happening and 90s kids all over are taking a victory lap. Paramount+ will be getting the Kenan Thompson and Kel Mitchell movie this year. The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon saw the two announce the project last night and the Internet devolved into hysteria. Back in 1997, the All That comedic duo brought the franchise to the big screen. Thompson and Mitchell said that Good Burger 2 would begin production in May during the late night show. Later this year will see fans head to their orange couches for the premiere. "Honestly, when we brought it back for the reboot of All That, it was just so nice to hear that the beats and rhythms were still working," Thompson told Entertainment Weekly recently. "And it was the same thing at the table read that we did for the movie. It was so refreshing to hear all those jokes and hear Ed's character come to life once again — the way he just does not understand the world the way everybody else does. It's just so hilarious, and it's so ripe for new opportunities, new storytelling, new jokes."⚡️🍿🍿🍿🍔🍔 #comiccon #spoilermagazine #news #losangeles #podcast #magazine #art #instagram #galaxy #film #tv #hollywood #feature #movies #fandom #graphicdesign #nyc #spoiler #comicconradio #comicbooks #actors #artist #life #goodburger #kenanandkel (at Los Angeles, California) https://www.instagram.com/p/CqSb7nKrqiI/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

WARNING: Major Scream VI spoilers below... ⚡️🚨 Just like with every other Scream film, the newly released Scream VI delivered a big twist in the film's third act and unmasked the surprising killers behind a new round of Ghostface attacks. These new killers, as many fans probably expected, had ties to other characters in previous Scream films, but the actual identity of this group wasn't known when the writing process began on Scream VI. The killers behind the Scream VI Ghostface killings are revealed to be the father, brother, and sister of Richie Kirsch, the killer in the 2022 Scream film. The trio wanted to get revenge for Richie's death at the hands of Sam, but according to writer Guy Busick, "that actually wasn't part of the initial pitch." "We just knew it was going to be a family, a secret family, and they had a slightly different motive for coming after Sam," Busick told EW. "The motive of the killers in the last film is very intellectual – it's more about an idea about toxic fans feeling that their franchise has fallen on hard times and 'we have to get it back on track,' and they're taking it so far. But it's very intellectual, it's very esoteric, and we wanted something really primal. It had to be more personal. That's when we found the Richie piece and we were like, 'Oh, that'll be fun, because it ties all the way back into our first movie together and it tells one big story.'" ⚡️🍿🍿🍿👻🔪 #comiccon #spoilermagazine #news #losangeles #podcast #magazine #art #instagram #galaxy #film #tv #hollywood #feature #movies #fandom #graphicdesign #nyc #spoiler #comicconradio #comicbooks #actors #artist #life #scream6 #scream #ghostface (at Los Angeles, California) https://www.instagram.com/p/CqSbpTCLMWb/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

Brendan Fraser is having one heck of a year. The actor known for major movie hits from the 1990s like The Mummy just won the Academy Award for Best Actor for his performance in Darren Aronofsky's The Whale. He will also be seen in Martin Scorsese's next film, Killers of the Flower Moon. Due to all of the press Fraser was getting during awards season, the actor and his fans have been reminiscing about some of his most iconic roles. Unsurprisingly, some folks want to see him return to some of his roles from the past, including his former co-star Alicia Silverstone. Recently, the Clueless alum attended '90s Con (via Variety) and revealed she would be open to making a Blast From the Past sequel. The 1999 romantic comedy follows a man who rejoins society after spending his life in a fallout shelter. "With Brendan? I would do anything with Brendan. It was so much fun," Silverstone said during a Clueless panel when a fan asked if she'd make a Blast From the Past follow-up. "I just saw Brendan after he won his Oscar and he's so cute. He talked in his speech about how we all go through this really hard time and you have to grow and it's part of life that you struggle and then look what happened to him!
