But I do notice that when people are laughing, they’re generally not killing one another. Instead of bitching again about adaptations I don't like, I'll gush about something I do. I'm working on self-improvement. I entreat you all to bask in the wonder of Frank Gorshin's gut busting comedy. Nothing but respect for MY Riddler.

That Feeling When

You're writing a group fight and realize someone has been standing there doing nothing for several minutes.

Yes, how dare DC make this character created by Jewish writers Jewish? Don't they know that everyone needs to be straight, white and Christian unless there's a "reason" for them not to be, because it's not like the real world isn't full of people who just are Jewish or are Hindu or are anything that isn't Christian because, shockingly, not everyone is the same. (End sarcasm)

Furthermore, custody cases aren't as simple as "child automatically goes to next of kin." Colonel Jacob Kane was in the military and might not have even been in the country when his sister died. His family was probably with him living at base housing. Even if he was immediately given emergency leave, it's not like he could just relocate to Gotham instantaneously.

So when faced with the option of ripping a child who had just lost both parents in a particularly traumatic way away from the only home he's ever known, everything that's familiar to him, including the school that he's used to, in order to go live on some random military base and probably needing to move every six months - two years OR letting him stay in the family home he's familiar with and be cared for by a devoted caretaker that can devote 24/7 to his well-being (Jacob's wife was also in the military, so neither of them could realistically do this) it makes perfect sense that Jacob would talk to Alfred and make this arrangement.

So there is a perfectly valid reason why Bruce didn't go live with his uncle that doesn't involve needlessly villainizing one of the few Jewish characters in a medium created by Jewish writers.

This diner had a jukebox, which was a socially acceptable way to force people to listen to music they don't like. It was listening to an ipod without headphones, but you paid for the privilege.

So I get up and go over to the jukebox and start putting in quarters. I had a lot of quarters with me, because my dead parents left me all their money as a way to try to offset the truama of being orphaned. Didn't work. Anywho. So I'm selecting Night on Bald Mountain over and over again, when Alfred comes over. I thought he would tell me to stop, but instead he says: wait. So I wait. "Before you put in another Night on Bald Mountain," he says "put in one Boulevard of Broken Dreams." And that is when the afternoon went from good to great.
