I decided to revisit a painting I did a number of years ago with oil paint, but this time with watercolour. I wanted to see my progress and the kind of look I could get. I'm pretty happy with how it turned out. The watercolour piece is probably a quarter of the size too. This was painted from a photo I took at the #cowrajapanesegarden in #cowra. With the smoke that continues to roll into Canberra and other areas in NSW and Victoria there is the constant reminder of the tragic bushfires that are devastating our beautiful country. My thoughts are with those affected by these fires, the lives, homes and countryside lost and those who are working so hard to get the fires under control. I hope we get some rain very soon to help. My mum sent me a photo from back home of the smoke filled countryside and it looks like it should be winter, with the hazy hills and grey sky, but sadly not. I've not done justice to her photo but I needed to paint it out.
