I'm losing my mind over how people on the internet are talking about trump bombing Iran "it's WW3! It's WW3 I'm so scared!"

-first of all. we've seen this before. the United States has been waging war in western Asia for decades. do our wars in Iraq and Afghanistan not ring any bells to you?

-second of all. there has not been a war on US soil since the civil war. get your head out of your ass and have some empathy for the people who are actually going to be and are already being affected by this. namely, the citizens of Iran.

- thirdly. y'all need to take a step back with how you're talking about the Iranian government. they are a horrific dictatorship that abuses it's people, and deserves no love from us. just because we dislike the state of Israel, and the US government, doesn't mean we need to start praising the government of Iran.

-lastly, stop fear mongering about nuclear war.

If your in this situation (this also goes for you OP), there’s a document called an advanced directive (also referred to as a living will), If you believe that your parents/ next of kin would not respect your choices for medical treatment or end-of-life choices you want, you can fill one out to make your own choices legally binding.

An advanced directive also allows you to assign a proxy, ie someone else to legally take over the spot that would be assigned to next of kin. This means your SO, your best friend, a member of your found family, or even your neighbor that you’d trust can take over the process of being your advocate should you fall ill and can’t make your own choices, or take over the end-of-life arrangements should you pass away.

Any LGBTQIA+ legal clinic in your state should be able to help you with these documents, some will even do them pro-bono for trans, NB, intersex, and gender diverse individuals.

was talking to my gf about my fear of dying young for being trans and my mom putting my deadname on my gravestone, and she said "i hope that never happens, but if it does, i will carve your name into your grave myself if i have to." and i think theres something extremely raw about that sentiment and trans community in general. you can kill only our bodies, but you cant kill transsexuality

Like no Deborah, you aren't going to lose your job for simply supporting Palestine. Everyone who has lost their job, lost it due to pro hamas comments, comments where they were supporting the death of innocent Israelis and/or jews, or where xenophobic and/or antisemitic. It's called creating a hostile working environment and discrimination, which is a fireable offense. My absolute cunt of an ex step uncle was fired for a disgusting khanist post on LinkedIn, and he deserved it.

The reality of being jewish, simply jewish, not a zionist but just because a person is jewish, is thay you get harassed online and in real life, you get death threats, smear campaigns trying to falsely paint you as a criminal (re the Sydney mall killer incident), and if you speak out about any of that or any other antisemitism, even if you are the biggest antizionist out there, you are now labeled as a zionist and are disregarded (re yuval). You also have a chance of being attacked (re jew stabbed in the eye with a Palestinian flag, re two jewish kids in Berlin attacked, re a 12 year old French jewish girl being raped, etc etc etc) or even killed (re older jewish man being killed by a pro Palestine protester).

And whilst I cannot speak on what it's like to be Palestinian in today's climate as I'm not Palestinian, I'm sure they face the exact same treatment as jews do.

disabled people are worth whatever cost or resources is needed to keep them alive. disabled people are worth it even if they don't live long. they're worth it even if they will need extra support and resources for every day of their life. they're worth it even if they spend all they life indoors. none of it is wasted. none of it is in vain. time, effort, money, resources spent on a life are not wasted. these things have served their purpose. the joy of someone's existence is not undermined by not lasting forever. there's no meaningful point, some threshold where you can say "okay this is enough. after that it's not worth it." it's always worth it.

It didn’t hit me until recently that people genuinely think Kamala Harris was a police officer because of all the people who call her a cop online.

Like I think maybe it’s important people should know she was a prosecutor. She was once a district attorney and later an attorney general for the state of California. And we can discuss how related that is to police work and how tied she is to the carceral system etc etc (but for fairness would have to include her record of pushing for lowering incarceration rates through programs helping former prisoners + her office refusing to jail folks for low level weed offense). But she was never a police officer. Like people should get that clear. Kamala Harris was never a police officer. She was a district attorney. She was never a police officer.

Also just to add to this, if your claiming to care about a genocide so much, you should also care that Trump getting back in to office will cause a genocide of multiple minorities within our own country as well as worsening the death of innocents in the Middle East/palestine.

Addressing some anti-voter reasoning (and explaining why it's bad)

The reasoning most anti-voters are using is bad, and here's why.

"I plan to vote third party."

When it comes to presidential elections, third-party voting is dead in the water without massive election reforms, which Republicans will never allow if they have their way. By voting third party, you're effectively voting for Trump and Project 2025/Agenda 47. This might sound harsh, but it's just the truth right now.

"I would be complicit in genocide."

If genocide is what you're worried about, how would letting Donald J. "Finish The Problem" Trump become president help? Do you really think Donald J. Muslim Ban Trump isn't going to go after Palestinians already in the US? And what exactly do you plan to do for Palestinians in a Trump dictatorship when you've been imprisoned for "pornography" because you were trans in public, posted pictures of trans people or characters, or posted support for trans people? (Yeah, Trump and his buddies want to legislate so-called "trans ideology" as "pornography" and make it illegal.)

"It would be no worse than what POC are going through already."

However bad things are for POC in America right now, a Trump presidency would make them even worse. Using their suffering to justify letting Trump into the White House again is really, really messed up.

"White people have it coming."

White people won't be the ones who suffer the most. Again, POC will be disproportionately affected by Trump's policies. If you actually care about POC, why would you want to subject them to that? How does making things worse for them help anything?

"Bad things happened under Biden."

And a number of them happened because of Supreme Court members whom Donald Trump appointed, and because Republicans blocked his efforts to fix things. Furthermore, many good things happened under the Biden/Harris administration. Here's one post with examples. Here's another post. And here's another post. And here are some good things Kamala Harris has done.

One reason to vote for Harris is to balance the Supreme Court. If elected, she'll be able to appoint judges who aren't turbo-conservatives, which would help us immensely going forward. (It was a liberal Supreme Court that got us gay marriage, remember?) Meanwhile, if Trump is elected, he will appoint more turbo-conservative judges. We gotta think about the long game here.

"The Revolution would solve everything."

Leftists right now would never have tactical parity with, much less superiority over the US military, which Donald Trump would happily sic on all of you. At best, your "revolution" would actually be decades of insurgency. The genocide in Palestine would still happen, and the most vulnerable people in the US would suffer even more.

So basically, there's just no good reason not to vote at this point. Refusing to vote (or voting third party) is counterproductive to literally anything you want to accomplish, unless what you want to accomplish is "make things infinitely worse for everyone."
