I can’t be the only one who finds sotr to be a little too fan service-y. Some references and connections were cute, but others were just straight up fan content.

Personally, I think katniss being haymitchs best friend’s daughter takes away from their relationship. Haymitch originally gravitated towards katniss because he saw her potential. He saw the symbol that he couldn’t reach. And the two of them found solace in their similarities. Now I feel the whole “she’s my besties kid” kinda takes away from it.

I also feel like mags and Wiress were a little much. Ignoring the fact that the chances of mags and Wiress being his mentors are incredibly slim, I feel like this was wasted potential. There was a space here to write a mentor figure that highlighted/contrasted the mentor figure haymitch would eventually become. Mags and Wiress didn’t rlly add anything to how haymitch viewed the games, they just kinda existed as we already knew them to be.

I’m not trying to be hateful, I love the hunger games more than anything. But I’m curious, what do other people think about this?

attack of the clones has its strong points

say what you want about the cringe parts, but watching the battle of geonosis is so cool. its the accumulation of republic and separatist technical design going head to head that is just so interesting to watch. we see a full-scale jedi force for pretty much the only time. obi wan v. jango fett?? the choreography against dooku? dont even get me started. plus, its our introduction to the relationships between the clones and the jedi. it reminds me of the little piece that jumpstarted the clone wars era and all of its awesomeness.

i finally got the bonsai tree lego set, and i've decided that she is my current purpose. lets normalize mini-purposes. they're basically side quests that make the big battles less scary. gotta build that bonsai tree before i apply to 10 more internships!

watching early mha is so bittersweet. seeing all the character interactions and slowburn build ups just arent the same as the last couple of seasons. the dynamics between the whole class are so peak in season 2 and 3. as much as i love shoto, deku, and bakugo, the show development was more entertaining when the spotlight shifted between different groups of students instead of just the trio. plus seeing characters like momo, iida, kirishima, and tsu getting all this character growth that never reaches its full potential in the final arc is just. ugh. and they're all such innocent little babies take me backkkk. i miss the og dekusquad and bakusquad.

also *spoiler* just thinking about the fact that deku is working so hard but will lose the power in a little over a year. its so heartbreakingggg.

to be humble is to be fearless

the true definition of humility is “a modest or low view of one’s importance.” in general, i think people situate this phrase from a prideful standpoint. they assume this means that they are worth less than others, or should view themselves as less. but thats not rlly what humility means. the whole idea that humility has to do with other people is inherently flawed. the central theme of humility is to set aside your fears and pretenses, for an unwavering faith. so if we eliminate fear, then how do we know we’re committing to the correct faith? how do we know that our actions are truly bettering lives?

somehow, i find myself drawn to maka albarn. she is fearless, which she states is due to her "unwavering courage". i think this is a version of faith. she has courage because she stands next to the people she loves. she has courage because she fights for what she believes in. she has courage because she knows who she wants to protect. i think this is a good example of humility. shes young, and therefore prideful. however, in the best moments we see her humility. she knows she’s the weakest among her friends. she knows that some forces are too strong for her to handle. she knows that she’s giving crona special treatment. and yet, she holds to her beliefs and fights anyway. also, she doesn’t impose the consequences of her actions on others. she trusts in the spirit of herself, and those who stand beside her, to act how they must. she u n d e r s t a n d s the people around her. because of that, she knows how to express humility. how to uplift others, while sticking to her own beliefs

this interpretation is definitely a personal one. so ill ask, what does humility look like to you?

just thinking about how delulu katniss was for the entire series. bitch would be like "ugh my best friend gale who i kissed but did not enjoy it at all. im sure i will eventually". compared to "ugh peeta is so sweet and perfect and he draws me plants and keeps me calm at night" like girl. who you tryin to gaslight, us or yourself??
