"This shrine to old faith now lays broken. With the roof torn off, walls smashed and idol shattered it's a mockery of what it used to be. Any objects of worth taken long ago. Still though, those from the surrounding homesteads use it on occasion.
Paying their respects to the idol that once stood here. Not just because old traditions die hard. But because of the fear of what might befall them if they don't ..."

"Here lie the bones of a long defeated dragon. Left unceremoniously to be picked clean by vultures and bleach in the sun.
It was historically used by passing traders as a way point in a lesser known path across the desert. However with the recent sighting of a well, it's now a busy and vibrant resting spot. Offering a reprise from the non-stop heat and a place to swap stories of the dangers on the trail."
Hey all,
This is my take on 'what once was' - a theme voted for by my patrons who support me in doing what I do, making awesome maps for people to enrich their DnD games with.

Love Lost in the Undercroft - A Summoning at Hand
(Hit this link to get this map and it’s many variations.)
Hey all,
this map was great fun to make, a once peaceful undercroft now torn asunder through who knows what ritual.
I imagined the would-be-heros rushing in to try and save the day only to find the ritual already well underway. Will they be able to stop it in time or will the priests of the ceremony manage to bring forth whatever foul darkness they have in mind.
Anyway - let me know if you like it :)

From Rite to Ruin -
You can get this map over on my Patreon where there’s some more versions and cool things like that. :)
“You can’t seem to throw a stone in this jungle without hitting yet more temples. You’d have thought nobody would be crazy enough to want to live in such a hostile environment and yet here they are, dedicating their entire lives to building monuments to their Gods.
A recent run in with some lost archaeologists has lead you to believe that those that stole The Serpentine Staff are hidden away within this maze of crumbling buildings. As you investigate the endless labyrinth the sound of voices deep in chant reaches your ear. A quick bit of quiet climbing through the ruins and you gain a vantage point to spy on your quarry.
Eight Robed figures stand in the centre of a small clearing between four pillars. As they chant loudly in to the dying light one of their number lifts above their head a glinting golden staff. You take a deep breath and ready yourself. Hopefully this will go more smoothly than the encounter with the archaeologists…“

Hey all - Hit this link to get this map and more! - https://www.patreon.com/posts/tales-by-fens-of-38371668
It's with great pleasure I get to share a joint project I've been working away on with some very talented and excellent creators. Together we've put together a stand alone module that you can either drop straight in to your campaign, play as a one shot or just pick up and use elements from it that you like in your own game.

Pillars in the Sand
“You wearily take another step across the soft sand. The beating sun and dry hot heat of the desert has been sapping your parties strength for days now. Between that and the sandstorm a few nights back what should have been a 5 day trek has turned in to 8 and with it the rations you have are starting to run out. The carrion birds wheeling above you squark gleefully to your hopeful end.
But there, in the distant haze, you make out a ruined structure of stone reaching up out of the desert. An abandoned arena now half buried, long ago left to be reclaimed by the desert. Stories tell that at night those that lost their lives for entertainment rise again to battle, forever seeking to be laid to rest in a more permanent death that will not come. But more importantly for you the stories tell of weapons of power lost to time and sand, forever buried with the restless dead here.
A smile cracks your dry lips as you take another step forwards...”

Market Square
“The fountain that overlooks the square burbles loudly, overflowing by design down the rock walls in to two pools either side of a wide staircase that leads back up to the fountain from the main square.
On the square itself a small market is ticking along, hawkers and street urchins selling their goods as the patrons overflow from the nearby inn in to a large tent with live band. All reviling in the merriment and drinking their way to happiness.”

Desert Reach
“Through the persistent heat haze above the arid desert you see a large obelisk reaching for the sky. As you approach closer you find it to be a gigantic marble arm. Perhaps 20ft across at the base of the forearm it reaches 40ft up to the palm with all five fingers splayed out as if trying to clasp the sun.
"Standing proud it casts much needed shade over the sand below it. And as you enjoy a respite from the sun you realise the arm appears to be solid, seamless, marble. If this is only the arm of a statue, now long swallowed by shifting sands, you can only guess at the size of the rest of the monolith and it’s total worth.”

Outrun & Overgrown -
You can get this map over on my Patreon where there’s some more versions and cool things like that. :)
“With long swinging swipes your blade hacks at the heavy jungle foliage. The heat and humidity is suffocating but you press on through the day and eventually, to your relief, the overgrown jungle starts to give way to a small animal path.
A few more hours on the rough path and the dense canopy opens up to a small clearing around a set of ruins. Untended and overgrown the stone ruins have begin to crumble in the baking sun and heavy rain.
But you find that the large flat stones offer some protection from the incessant crawling insects and it seems a decent a spot to make camp. Just as you get a small fire going and your kit spread out there’s a sudden flash of light across the sky and a crack of thunder as large, heavy, drops of rain begin to fall and soak your camp ..."

Atone -
You can get this map over on my Patreon where there’s some different versions and cool things like that. :)
“Mosquito bitten and sun burnt your party press through the jungle until finally, the broken trail you’ve been following for days, gives way to large stone slabs. Up ahead through the dense foliage you can hear a deep, low, rhythmic chanting.
Pressing on you soon come to the edge of the dense jungle tree line and before you, dominating a large clearing, is a square temple with high walls surrounded by a moat.
From the tops of the walls you can see an internal flickering fire light as if a bonfire is lit within the compound. The low deep chanting on the wind starts to build to a crescendo until a sudden sharp scream pierces through the night and then silence ...
Behind you in the bushes a branch snaps, there’s a hiss of wind and a sharp sting in your neck. Instinctively you raise your hand and feel a dart protruding from your flesh. As you turn on your heal your vision starts to swim ...”
